I decided to do some further investigation into the dummy IP and found a way to reroute it and find out where the host IP originally generated from. Rhode Island, was where it came from (That's where Gheyme lives), and it even got as specific as his town, which I thought was a nice touch. All in all, I personally am 100% certain.

 

Don't get me wrong, iB was most definitely banned for sucking as his name states, but the fact that he turned out to be a PBP just further solidified the reasoning behind his banning. I PROBABLY should have banned him as soon as I found out he was a PBP, but didn't, for the sake of keeping the "Don't suck" precedent.

There's no way he can be Gheyme. We have iB at my board too and his IP goes stright to Queensland. Plus he's made mention of Australian television etc... stuff there's no way someone from Rhode Island would know at all.

That's good enough proof for me. -iB- lived in Gheyme's hometown, yet pretended to be from somewhere else; what other explanation is there?

Sorry, I said why a couple times on aim, I suppose I forgot to say it here as well. IB has been here quite a while, at times coexisting with Gheyme under real dummy accounts.

I've spoken with them both at the same time. I know it's possible to have two aim accounts going at the same time, but if they are the same, he carried on two entirely seperate conversations with two distinct personalities, which I've tried to do and found exceedingly difficult.

Someone (who I won't name to save humiliation) also told me they read ib's web site, which is all consistant with the ib persona.

From what I know of Gheyme, he simply doesn't have the ability or probably the initiative to do all of that, not to mention it being quite outside his style. At the most, they're associates, but I just can't see them as the same person.

Of course, the easiest way to solve this is to have ib shows us a picture of himself having sex with a female with a kangaroo in the background. That will prove he's not Gheyme.

 

In light of this information, remember two things:

 

1. I'm not saying I want iB allowed back. I really don't care. I would prefer a precedent be set that you can be banned for no reason, and a lot more of it be done. In a way, this has happened, since apparently the banning was underway before this double identity idea was set upon. Good.

2. Even if they were the same person, I would probably argue that they weren't, for fun. But I assure you that is not the case in this scenario.

However, IDRM has made the most valid point that regardless of him being mistaken for a PBP his banning was a good thing and the 5 day countdown was nothing if not amusing

Hoff clearly misses the point of having a "You are banned" thread. It allows all of the dissenters to dissent and discussion of bannings to occur in a more orderly fashion than the "OMG Y DID U BAN THAT GUY U GUZY R POWAR ABUSERS~!" posts/PMs that tend to pop up when someone is banned. And while most bannings are usually not made a show out of, this banning has been a show for almost a week now.
