The reason behind the transfer of power in Toryumon to Dragon's Gate is mainly because Ultimo Dragon is planning to return to the WWE in November. The plan is for Dragon to return to WWE without his mask and wrestle under the name "Asai", his real last name.

NOOOOO!! I know to most people it doesn't matter, but he is NOT The best looking person to put on T.V. without a mask, especially when the only people WWE seriously push don't look like they had an accident on their face.

This sounds to me more like his idea than the WWE's, because I'd have to imagine given the choice of pushing a person as opposed to a established character they'd take the easy option.

WWE, unlike WCW, actually seems interested in possibly making a bit of money selling masks. I can't imagine them asking him to unmask.

 

Heck, they saw the wonders doing that did to Rey --- and when he worked maskless early in his career, Dragon didn't exactly LOOK like a wrestler.

Why was'nt Ultimo Dragon vs Rey Mysterio booked for Wrestlemania when he first showed up? It was the match up that everybody wanted but it never happened on WWE PPV.

Just a minor pet peeve: Why is it that Japanese wrestlers almost NEVER have first names when wrestling in America? Except for Kenzo. I mean, Akio, Sakoda, Miyamoto, Minnamino, and now Asai. Jesus.

imagine a possible storyline to this. Ultimo hints his return the WWE does a production over it, storyline wise it leaks back to Kenzo who wishes to destroy the legendary masked wrestler on WWE tv to prove his dominence. Along the way he fights some unknown unmasked wrestler from japan on Velocity and absolutely squashes him. This wrestler then swears allegeance to him. Kenzo agrees and this wrestler stands by Kenzo's side as they go from Smackdown to Smackdown. Each time the Ultimo promo plays and Kenzo demands a match with him at a PPV show.... Weeks go by This unnamed wrester working with Kenzo tries assisting in his matches but always seem to messup, moving either too slowly or too fast getting Kenzo to lose matches and pull DQ's. Kenzo berrates him and abuses him verbally in japanese...all the while unbeknowst to Kenzo the other Japanese wrestlers all bow to this wrestler and snickers at Kenzo behind his back... Finally a Smackdown promo shows Ultimo under the mask answering the challenge to Kenzo. The day comes, Kenzo tells his servant that he doesn't want him out at ringside because he is bad luck....

 

The match comes... and Kenzo comes out. Ultimo's music hits and out he comes in his mask. then..stops at the ramp....Pulls off his mask revealing himself as the man Kenzo been traveling with. Asai then Mops the Floor with Kenzo totally outclassing him in the ring. To Finally beating him.
