Spaceman Spiff Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 All these Nirvana mentions, but not their cover of "Where Did You Sleep Last Night"?
Corey_Lazarus Posted July 18, 2004 Report Posted July 18, 2004 Well, AoO, he asked for acoustic songs, not MELLOW acoustic songs.
Guest Temet Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Still no mention of Karma Police? Brilliant song, but how is that acoustic? Yeah I've heard versions with only Thom and Jonny, but only on bootlegs...
C Dubya 04 Posted July 20, 2004 Report Posted July 20, 2004 Foo Fighters - Everlong (just fucking awesome, actually all of his acoustic versions are gold) Warren Haynes - Lucky (nice solo cover of Radiohead) Kevn Kinney - This Town Dylan - I Shall Be Released Allman Brothers Band - Melissa
B. Brian Brunzell Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 I've always been partial to Alice In Chains UnPLugged version of "Nutshell." Throw in Pearl Jam's "Thumbing My Way" as well. Great song from a great album.
Guest Fire and Knives Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 I see a lot of Nirvana. I see Dylan twice. This shit is all wrong. It's all wrong, you fuckers. Go listen to The Times They Are A-Changin' until it sounds awesome. Jesus. K.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 Give 'em a break. No one's mentioned Days of the New yet.
B. Brian Brunzell Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 True, but "Whimsical" off of the first Days of the New album is fucking great. Would I put it up with Dylan, or the Stones' "Play With Fire?" Hell no. But still, it's a great tune. I also LOVE the acoustic version of Jeff Buckley's "Last Goodbye." I have it on the Live in Chicago DVD.
Guest Fire and Knives Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 No one's mentioned Days of the New yet True, but "Whimsical" off of the first Days of the New album is fucking great. Why must you incite them so? K.
B. Brian Brunzell Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 Oh, I'm not praising Travis Meeks, only about 1/3 of that album is even listenable, but "Whimsical" is simply a good song.
Guest krazykat72 Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 Smashing Pumpkins: Disarm, Cherub Rock (Earphoria), Mayonnaise (Earphoria), 1979 and Muzzle are really good this way too. A ton of Dylan songs Tom Petty - Yer So Bad -Paul Jacobi-
KTID Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 Still no mention of Karma Police? Brilliant song, but how is that acoustic? Yeah I've heard versions with only Thom and Jonny, but only on bootlegs... Well now, its not simply acoustic, but it does quite clearly feature an acoustic guitar and therefor does meet the criterion.
TheBigSwigg Posted July 21, 2004 Report Posted July 21, 2004 Hurt, I'm so lonesome I could cry, The Running Kind, Wayfaring Stranger, Thirteen, and The Beast In Me by Johnny Cash. Hell, nearly anything he put out in the last 10 years.
