Vanhalen Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 Does anyone care about Tyson any more, theyve been showing the PPV adverts a lot, but ever since Lewis destroyed him(which I'd always hoped for), I have no interest in watching him again
Art Sandusky Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 I'm seriously considering a trip to the sports bar to see him win in two rounds.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 I'll watch the replay on HBO in a week. I'm all about the "I need some fuckin' money" ring tour he's got coming up.
Crimson Platypus Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 Wow I consider myself to be a boxing fan and I don't even know who he is fighting (didn't know he even IS fighting at that).
Guest Dumb Fuck Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 It amazes me that anyone buys his fights...
jimmy no nose Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 HBO is definitely not carrying it. Mike is a Showtime fighter still. I will most likely be seeing it at a friend's house who will be getting it for free.
Alro Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 Last I heard, Freedom Hall is only a 1/3 sold out. One of the local news programs mentioned that there is a slight possibility that the fight will be blacked out in Louisville. Â The same station had an interview with the promoter who said they are hoping to attract some last minute buyers with their recent promotion. There is a tractor trailer advertising the fight sitting in Slugger Field's parking lot. Tyson, Laila Ali (who may be just as big of a draw as Tyson in Louisville) and some of the other undercard fighters had an open workout at 4th Street Live! (Louisville's new entertainment complex). They are promoting the hell out of the fight, but I'll be surprised if the arena is half full.
Guest Staravenger Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 It's "Showtime PPV" so it won't be on HBO. I predict though by next weekend Showtime will air it. I can't think of many times (if any) when a big fight on PPV is not rebroadcasted on HBO/Showtime a week or so later.

The programme is advertised as starting at 11, so does that mean tyson at about 2 or 3am?
NoCalMike Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 the mere fact that this is on ppv is absurd to begin with.
Alro Posted July 28, 2004 Report Posted July 28, 2004 Who is Ali fighting this time?  Monica Nunez  Here is the full card:  Mike Tyson vs Danny Williams (heavy) Laila Ali vs Monica Nunez (s middle) Nelson Dieppa vs Archie Solis (WBO jr flys) Randy Griffin vs Julio Garcia (middle) Russell Chasteen vs George Linberger (heavy) Willie Stewart vs Vitaliy Kopytko (s middle) Nick Casal vs John Rudolph (welter) Devon Alexander vs Lance Leggett (welter) Timur Ibragimov vs Earl Ladson (heavy)  Start time per Ticketmaster is 6:30.  And as a point of reference, Freedom Hall maxes out at 19,169.

nogoodnick Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 I get the feeling Tyson is gonna come out mean and vicious. How would you fight if youre entire financial future depended on it?
MrRant Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 I'll watch it on PPV at work since it will be free.
Scroby Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Did Tyson ever fight Bob Sapp? Whatever happen with that?
NoCalMike Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 I'll go with Skip Bayless on Mike Tyson in agreeing he is probably the biggest con artist Boxing has ever seen(well besides Don King) What has the guy done in the last 10-12 years to actually make people think he is a heavyweight threat? Yes, he had some impressive KO's early in his career, but a lot of those guys were over-the-hill (SPinks, Holmes) and once Tyson lost that first fight, he has basically been all hype and no bite. Tyson, go away...please.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted July 30, 2004 Report Posted July 30, 2004 Tyson was the only boxer to ever beat Spinks. Larry Holmes boxed ten more years after the Tyson bout, and Tyson is still the only person who ever knocked out Holmes.
