Promoter Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 The wwe is going to have Tough Enough again this year and the winner is going to get a cool million dollars. WOW! Vince is crazy unless he gets some true tough as nails athletes to come out. I can see Holly being all crockety about this. The thing is it's going to be covered like the Diva Search thing was for raw, but on smackdown.
Guest thebigjig Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 well thats a bunch of crap... the only way I would interested in watching TE is if they revolved it around a group of struggling wrestlers touring the independent circuits... sleeping in their cars and leading a hard, gritty life... instead of a bunch of spoiled motherfuckers living in a mansion You would think they would want to make a reality series unlike all of the other generic ones out there...
HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Pfft. You can complain all you want. I'm trying out.
iggymcfly Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 I thought they gave up on that whole thing. The last time they did it, they didn't even put the winners on television. Oh, and trying to incorporate a reality show into a couple segments in the middle of a wrestling show is always a recipe for disaster. If the Diva Search had been its own weekly hour-long show on Spike, it might have actually worked.
Guest drdrainoscott Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Source please? They mentioned it in the Smackdown "ticker" that runs on the bottom of the screen. One can only hope that this is rigged like the Diva Contest and they use it to springboard a new character up the card, cause for a Maven or Nidia to be making more then 95% of the roster is beyond rediculous.
Guest TigerDriver91 Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 I heard Carmella is rigged to win Tough Enough
Guest Staravenger Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 (edited) I have a good idea. Take 10-12 Hobos from NYC, train them to be a wrestler, and the winner gets a sandwich. Then the person can be named Boxcar Bronx, and he can feud with the Brooklyn Brawler. Greatets feud EVER! Edited August 20, 2004 by Staravenger
BHK Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Well, if it's not rigged, for a million dollars said wrestler will be getting the god push.
Guest MikeSC Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 well thats a bunch of crap... the only way I would interested in watching TE is if they revolved it around a group of struggling wrestlers touring the independent circuits... sleeping in their cars and leading a hard, gritty life... instead of a bunch of spoiled motherfuckers living in a mansion You would think they would want to make a reality series unlike all of the other generic ones out there... Why would you assume that indies WON'T try out? Heck, I'd be stunned if no TNA guys tried out. -=Mike
Guest Staravenger Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 I can imagine if it was rigged.... The Contestants... James H. Mark Q. Jamie B. Jack A. (sounds like a Dusty Rhodes idea) Shamalama D. Hugh H. Hunter H.H.
Guest Staravenger Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Heck, I'd be stunned if no TNA guys tried out. -=Mike I would be. The regulars are UNDER CONTRACT. If WWE wanted them so bad, they would've taken some of them when they had the chance.
ChrisMWaters Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Shark Boy minus the mask should try out.
Rob E Dangerously Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 It'll be a million dollars, over a few years
Eclipse Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Well, how are they gonna run the Tough Enough during programming? Will they take up big chunks of Smackdown, just like the Diva Contest?
Guest drdrainoscott Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Well, how are they gonna run the Tough Enough during programming? Will they take up big chunks of Smackdown, just like the Diva Contest? One of the McMahon's said during a shareholders coference that in the fall they were going to cut Smackdown to 90 minutes with the other 30 going to Tough Enough. I don't know if that means it will be a completly seperate show or what, but it sucks that Smackdown is getting the shaft once again.

Guest wrestlingbs Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 That's freakin stupid. "Sorry, but due to lack of ticket sales we have to let three wrestlers go. But no worries! I'm sure when we let 12 kids with no experience live in a mansion and do basic bumps, all to earn $1,000,000, all the while you guys struggle to pay bills, then things are bound to pick up!" This spits in the face of all the wrestlers who have ever competed in the business. Even Zach Gowan!
Guest Staravenger Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Speaking of the $1,000,000, anyone know how much the previous Tough Enough winners get in their contract? Can't be too much, considering Maven is the only male winner on T.V. and barely gets to be squashed, and Jackie & Nidia probably don't make too much considering their position on the roster.

I wasn't originally In favor of a Fourth Tough Enough, but If It means 30 Minutes less Smackdown! I'm all for It!
Guest syncer55 Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 The million dollar prize will gain lots of publicty, but I feel that the contestnat will be even worse than they were from previous years because they will be playing for money and not to wrestle.

Joe Schmo it! Too bad news has gotten around and obviously the only people who would try out are probably smarks or really really REALLY stupid marks.
Guest news_gimmick Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Just ridiculous. Thats exactly what I thought when I heard about it tonight on the show. Heh, since the last one went so well, let's do it again AND pay them more! Not exactly the smartest idea I think, the concept of the show is not new and entertaining anymore, but being that everything on MTV is reality crap anymore it'll draw viewers. Just not me.
haVoc Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Did they say what channel it will be on? Keep MTV's producers away from it and it could end up being alright.
redbaron29 Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Fear Havok...you probably didnt read the thread before you posted your question....They said it would be during smackdown Hence it will be on UPN
Aero Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 I thought they gave up on that whole thing. The last time they did it, they didn't even put the winners on television. Johnny Nitro was on TV for a couple of months with Eric Bischoff, even appearing backstage with him at Wrestlemania. Sure, he only wrestled a few times, but he was on TV.
Golgo 13 Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 And Matt was supposed to come in to beat Chavo Jr., but was injured, so we got the Jackie reign instead.
Promoter Posted August 20, 2004 Author Report Posted August 20, 2004 The wwe are probably trying to entice some top flight athletes who would otherwise not bother entering this contest. It could work, but looking at the track record who knows. They might get someone like a Brock Lesnar again who is talented, but is in it for only the money and leave when they can't take it on the road or we could get another Diva disaster on our hands.
Dandy Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 Tazz mentioned on Smackdown that pro-wrestlers, amateur wrestlers, football players, and "elite athletes" should try out. Sounds like they are moving it from the past formula to try to get some people already trained in wrestling or people that could pick it up faster. I hope they do get some indy wrestlers.
razazteca Posted August 20, 2004 Report Posted August 20, 2004 It should be rigged so that Monty Brown wins the contest with the POUNCE~
