"Team America gets NC-17 Rating"

Recommended Posts

Uh-oh. It looks like Sean Penn doesn't care for Matt and Trey. That is if you believe Drudge:

To Trey Parker and Matt Stone,

I remember a cordial hello when you guys were beginning to be famous guys around Hollywood at some party. I remember several times getting a few giggles out of your humor. I remember not being bothered as you traded on my name among others to appear witty, above it all, and likeable to your crowd. I never mind being of service, in satire and silliness.

I do mind when anybody who doesn't have a child, doesn't have a child at war, or isn't or won't be in harm's way themselves, is encouraging that there's "no shame in not voting" "if you don't know what you're talking about" EDIT: So what Sean is saying here is that you don't have a right to speak your opinion regarding voter participation if you don't have a child or if you're not in harm's way. Wow, and people say Bush is a free-speech Nazi (Mr. Stone) without mentioning the shame of not knowing what your talking about, and encouraging people to know. You guys are talented young guys but alas, primarily young guys. It's all well to joke about me or whomever you choose. Not so well, to encourage irresponsibility that will ultimately lead to the disembowelment, mutilation, exploitation, and death of innocent people throughout the world. The vote matters to them. No one's ignorance, indcluding a couple of hip cross-dressers, is an excuse.

All best, and a sincere fuck you,

Sean Penn

P.S. Take this as a personal invitation from me to you (you can ask Dennis Miller along for the ride as well) to escort you on a trip, which I took last Christmas. We'll fly to Amman, Jordan and I'll ride with you in a (?) 12 hours through the Sunni Triangle into Fallujah and Baghdad and I'll show you around. When we return, make all the fun you want.

Because Hollywood celebrities think that since they've acted in some movies that we need to hear about their political activism

I saw this on a sneak preview last night. Very hilarious, as they take the piss out of the left and the right. A wonderful satire on the "war on terrorism" Everyone, go see it.

This is great, now Penn will be a character in South Park and be ripped on for an entire season, hopefully they can fit him into this season.

I hope not because let's be frank: P&S have done a HELL of a lot worse than Sean Penn when it comes to them bashing people who have different beliefs (most notably anti-smokers and Democrats). And let's not forget "That's My Bush", where P&S went out of their way to give Bush a constant blow-job to the point that they literally changed the entire purpose of the show (which was supposed to be mocking politics) when their man Bush got elected......

That being said, I wish that the people behind King of the Hill and the Simpsons would do something towards tearing P&S a new asshole because if these two fuckers desperately need to be taken down a peg and given a good old-fashion public humiliation to humble them......

It all has to do with the cult of personality that Parker and Stone have created for themselves and the notion that they are never to blame for their problems.

Has it been stated that P&S were required by Paramount to get an "R-Rating" for them to even greenlight the release of the film? If they new they had to get an R-Rating then I have ZERO FUCKING SYMPATHY for Parker and Stone. They've been in the game long enough to know what they can and can't do and should have planned accordingly.

Whatever happened to the generation that knew way more about computers than their parents?

Perhaps people are aware that this whole thing could end with P&S throwing a temper tantrum and not releasing the film at all if they can't escape the NC-17 rating out of a sense of pure spite? Remember, Parker and Stone are ultra-cynical capitalists at heart (and have even stated as such in interviews) and that they know full-well that they can manipulate their fanboy legions to create a shitstorm for them if they can't get their way. And perhaps they are uber jealous that someone like Michael Moore could get his film a huge box-office haul after his film almost didn't get released and are now waving the flag of "Look at me! I'm being put down by the MPAA!!!!" in hopes of emulating the box-office successs of Moore's film? Especially given how their film is one of those films that are only going to appeal toward their die-hard fanboys and not sell to the casual audience and die a horribly nasty death at the box office, further showing that P&S are nothing more than a one-trick pony who can only be crude and put down other people who they just don't like?

So as far as I'm concerned, Parker and Stone can go jump in the lake and drown. Cause I'm sick and tired of them acting like their shit don't stink and acting like they are the only ones in the world to ever be repressed by someone else.

JasonX you obviously haven't seen the genious of Baseketball, Orgasmo, Southpark the movie...

Or most of the recent years of southpark.

In other words, one trick ponies, not by a LONG shot.

Dork.

Parker's good, Stone's a hanger on.

I don't know, Parker may be the brains but he's also got a bad habit of coming off like an utter prick in interviews. Stone meanwhile comes off in interviews as a decent fellow who seems to not have become as drunk off of his newfound fame and clout as his partner even if he is a "hanger-on"....

As for EricMM: Basketball was crap, Orgasmo was merely so-so, and Canibals the Musical was an utter disappointment IMHO. And don't get me started on That's My Bush.

They've only hit gold with South Park. And while the show has definately improved in terms of writing over the last couple of seasons there still are crap in it that makes me wonder what fucking planet Parker and Stone live on.

Their man Bush?

Huh?

I'm sorry, but "That's my Bush" made George Bush look GOOD??

Was I watching a different show? They made him out to be a moron.

The movie takes shots at both sides so I'm confused.

Well, since Bush didn't rape nuns, it wasn't quite negative enough, I s'pose.

...BTW, if the ads are to be believed, Team America has an "R" rating...

WHAT?

I don't know where you heard that the show was supposed to be mocking politics because that's not true. The show was a parody of sitcoms, from the cliche stories to the annoying laugh track. Plus, I'm pretty sure they've stated in the past that they weren't too happy with Bush being selected as the Republican nominee. So I don't know where this "giving Bush a constant blowjob" thing is coming from.

If they new they had to get an R-Rating then I have ZERO FUCKING SYMPATHY for Parker and Stone. They've been in the game long enough to know what they can and can't do and should have planned accordingly.

I don't think ANYONE's been in the business long enough to know what sex positions are or aren't acceptable in a scene involving two marrionettes with no genitalia.

Anyway, I also caught the sneak preview last night and I thought the movie was ok. Most of the humor comes from sight gags and while some of them were funny, I think the script could've been better.

Yeah, I watched a lot of That's my Bush and all it did was make fun of George Bush. This idea that it actually was supposed to compliment is either a joke, or coming from someone who has no idea what they're talking about.

Also, I don't see how a show about the president doing dumb things in the White House would have worked if he hadn't got elected. I think JasonX is just making up random shit right now.

Now granted I only saw one episode of "That's my Bush" but it didn't seem to me as they were being pro-GOP or anything. They made fun of everybody, which is what I like about Matt and Trey. Mike is right though -- if a show/movie doesn't have the Republican person raping nuns or lynching blacks, it's a pro-Republican propaganda piece.

Although the funniest thing about the whole "That's my Bush" story is the fact they advertised on the back cover of National Review...

I think Sean's point was that if you don't understand the seriousness of the war and its effect on people around the world, to not only have but encourage an "I don't give a shit" attitude is pretty irresponsible. The last point seems to just ask them to educate themselves on the seriousness of the matter and then see how they feel about it.

The main problem is that Parker and Stone utterly and completely pussied out on TMB the moment that Bush got elected. The show originally was supposed to air a month after the election and they said it was going to be just like South Park in terms of no-holds barred mocking of the institute of the presidency. But once Bush got elected they immeadiately delayed the project for over five months and in that time totally castrated it to be nothing more than a bunch of pussy sitcom parodies with Bush and his family plugged into them with ZERO bite.

Who told you that?

I was following the project when it was going to possibly be about Al Gore and it was designed the same. It was never meant to be a message or a mockery of any President, it was designed to mock sitcoms.

Parker and Stone aren't fans of Bush. They aren't even fans of Kerry. They dislike them both but they are among some of us who hate the "jump to conclusion" patrol.
