moral suasion 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2004 50 additional minutes. That puts the movie at over 4 hours
Mik 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2004 This is the first time I haven't seen a Lord of the Rings movie since its theatrical release - so I'm excited to picking this up and watching it again. Too many good DVDs coming out from now til Christmas.
Vyce 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2004 50 additional minutes. That puts the movie at over 4 hours Frankly, four hours is not long enough.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2004 Considering that PJ apparently has an additional 3 hours + of footage he never used in all three films laying around, I could do with more footage.
the max 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2004 I'm thinking that down the line, the ultra-geek edition gets released and is basically all three movies' extended editions, along with PJ's three hours of unused footage, thrown onto like 8 discs. I'd buy it.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2004 Fuck yeah. FUCK YEAH!!! Bring this shit on!!! I loved ROTK but it felt choppy, like it was obvouis things were cut out, it didn't flow like Fellowship or even TTT. I'm excited for this.
El Psycho Diablo 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2004 Actually, the ROTK cut..before editing..was 6 hours. @_@ I'd buy it. TTT's EE was much better than the theatrical release. A lot of the scenes they put back in were pretty vital, and helped flesh out the movie a bit more.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2004 When they originally announced the first cut a huge petition was circling the net campaigning New Line Cinema to make the movie 5 hours with a break after the first 2 1/2.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 I actually prefer TTT theatrical. Let's face it, no one gives a shit about Merry and Pippen dicking around with the trees and arguing over who is taller. The theatrical version cut out a lot of useless crap. There was maybe one awesome scene in the EE, namely Boromir/Faramir/Steward and that backstory. ROTK will have all sorts of pertinent stuff added though. Hell, they dropped entire subplots like Faramir and Eowyn.

Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 I read today on IMDB that Peter Jackson really didn't want to do the whole "Army of the Dead" because he felt it would look too unrealistic, but he did it anyways to appease the fans of the books. Now, I read that while watching TTT today and I have to ask: how is the Army of the Dead any more un-realistic than an army of Ents marching in Isengaurd?
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 I think he's trying to avoid going into the realm of ghosts and spirits for whatever reason. The Ents are real. The closest thing you ever really get to anything ethereal in the trilogy is Galadriel freaking out.
Kaertos 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 Oh... about the super-geek edition with the extra 3 hours of footage or whatever... I remember reading an interview where PJ basically said that there won't be another DVD release of the LotR trilogy until the next format is out and useable. And since the trilogy will be re-released then anyways, he wants to add some extra stuff to make it worthwhile for the loyal fans out there who already have the movies. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 I'm glad he used the Army of the Dead, since it caused a major markout for me when Aragorn and the Dead Army showed up in Gondor. How else can they explain how the city was saved?
Guest P!NK. Report post Posted November 22, 2004 Serious question: does anybody ever really watch these Super Geek Edition versions of the trilogy? Or do they sit on your DVD shelf and get pointed out to envious (and truly ignorant) friends?
algrim 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 I'm probably one of the few people that only cares about the movie and not the extra features.
Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 Serious question: does anybody ever really watch these Super Geek Edition versions of the trilogy? Or do they sit on your DVD shelf and get pointed out to envious (and truly ignorant) friends? Yes. It is the theatrical versions I don't watch. I'm probably one of the few people that only cares about the movie and not the extra features. I haven't watched all of the special features myself, but these versions of the film are better than the cut versions released in theatres.
Kaertos 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 I actually just watched the Fellowship extended edition last week. And I have watched all of the special features at least once. I find the ones I like and I watch those of and on. Really, I buy them for the movie, but the special features are icing.
Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 I only own the Extended editions. I got Two Towers and Fellowship at Slackers for $25 each, and I've intentionally waited untill ROTK was almost out to get them so I could watch the entire trilogy together. as an aside, I found an easter egg on TTT- Andy Sirkis accepting the award for Best Virtual Performance from the 2003 MTV movie awards. Man, I haven't laughed that hard in ages.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 How do you access that easter egg?

LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2004 Wow that was hilarious! Gollum: "You don't have any friends...nobody likes you!" Smeagol: "Dobby likes me!" Gollum: "Dobby!? Dobby is a f*ckin' fag!"
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2004 Serious question: does anybody ever really watch these Super Geek Edition versions of the trilogy? Or do they sit on your DVD shelf and get pointed out to envious (and truly ignorant) friends? Seeing how I have no friends, I haven't bought the EE's for their looks. I only watch the extended films...
the max 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2004 I watch the extras to kill time on a weekend afternoon when there's nothing else on and I'm bored. Of course, once you watch them once, you really can't watch them again...
