Let's face it, no one gives a shit about Merry and Pippen dicking around with the trees and arguing over who is taller. The theatrical version cut out a lot of useless crap. There was maybe one awesome scene in the EE, namely Boromir/Faramir/Steward and that backstory. ROTK will have all sorts of pertinent stuff added though. Now, I read that while watching TTT today and I have to ask: how is the Army of the Dead any more un-realistic than an army of Ents marching in Isengaurd? I remember reading an interview where PJ basically said that there won't be another DVD release of the LotR trilogy until the next format is out and useable. And since the trilogy will be re-released then anyways, he wants to add some extra stuff to make it worthwhile for the loyal fans out there who already have the movies. I'm probably one of the few people that only cares about the movie and not the extra features. I got Two Towers and Fellowship at Slackers for $25 each, and I've intentionally waited untill ROTK was almost out to get them so I could watch the entire trilogy together. as an aside, I found an easter egg on TTT- Andy Sirkis accepting the award for Best Virtual Performance from the 2003 MTV movie awards.
