I dunno why they turned Crush heel, IIRC he was fairly over and could have been a main eventer (not a good wrestler, but was charasmatic as the Hawaiian powerhouse IMO).

Ted DiBiase was supposed to win the tournament for the heavyweight title at WrestleMania 4, but after Honky Tonk man refused to put the IC title back on Savage the WWF scrapped the plan and made Savage the heavyweight champ.

 

Perhaps my favorite: Sid Justice was supposed to do the job to Hogan's big leg at WM8, but since he knew he was getting fired immediately after the show he kicked out and Harvey Whippleman (whatever his name was) had to squash the match lol. Great job Sid.

I don't think the WWF was going to immediately fire Sid after the match. They aired some squashes of him a month after WMVIII and IIRC, were looking to set up a feud between him and Taker.

Sid/Taker was a match that occured on the post WM8 European Tour. One is on the UK Rampage 92 CHV- it's absolutely dire!

right cuz when crush went to wrestle a squash on a later raw one night with savage on commentary , savage attacked him and was suspended for getting involved

Sid kicked out of the legdrop because Papa Shango missed his cue to get to the ring. Sid only kicked out because he was meant to be DQ'd and not pinned and he really had no choice but to kick out. Sid was kept around for a while after WM VIII, even though he failed a steroid test just before the event. He wound up walking out not long after during a house show run against Warrior as he was unhappy over, not only Warrior winning so quickly, but also Warrior kicking out of his powerbomb.

I was just watching SummerSlam '90, and noticed that the Boss Man had a shiner when he went out to be in Hogan's corner. I went back and looked, and I didn't notice it on him when he was the referee for Jake/Bad News. Any word on how this happened? Did he catch a good one from BNB while he was getting hammered? Or was it there the whole time and I just didn't get a good enough look at him.

At Royal Rumble 91, Savage revealed he helped slaughter win the belt. Obviously, slaughter never gave savage a title shot,,was this ever brought up?

Yeah, this was addressed on the 2/91 TME Special. Before Tunney announced the #1 Contender, Okerlund brought up the fact that Slaughter pronounced Savage as #1 Contender. Apparently, Tunney wasn't impressed as he dubbed Hogan the WMVII challenger.

Yea, in all fairness to Shango he or someone in the WWF brass probably mistimed how long it was going to take to get to the ring because that WM 8 walkway was pretty long. I miss the long walkways to be honest.

That match was put on there to calm the crowd down after Hogan v. Rock, putting the title on her there would've been pointless.

It still baffles me why we had HHH-Jericho as the last match on the WrestleMania X8 card instead of Hogan-Rock. Did they really think Rock-Hogan wouldn't draw as much heat as it did?

HHH addresses this in one of his DVD's. He said he knew the crowd would be worn out from Hogan/Rock, but still wanted to go on last because it was a World Title match, and a world title match should always go on last, or something.

 

Even though the crowd was all screwed up by it, I agree with him, and was glad they went on after. It helped keep the (then) Undisputed Title in high regard. Now, both World titles are about as prestigious as the North American Lightweight Title, but oh well.
