Can you imagine going grocery shopping with Roger Waters? He'd probably yell out all the things he needs to shop for, and it would sound like "Eclipse" or "Not Now John"

You just gave me douche chills.

Would you look at her

She looks at me

She’s got me thinking about her constantly

But she don’t know how I feel

And as she carries on without a doubt

I wonder if she’s figured out

I’m crazy for this girl

GOD THAT SONG IS GOOD

I liked that song, although I have not heard anything else by Evan and Jaron.

I'm really into early to mid 90's ambient techno (The Orb, Global Communication, Pete Namlook, etc.) right now.

Why isn't there a DVD of Sparks music videos. I quite to see one from watching the clips on their website.

I'm pretty sure you could find a few on youtube.com

I saw Evan and Jaron live on one of those big Jingle Ball concerts, the local pop station put on at the local hockey arena back in December of 2000 I think. They weren't bad but they ended their mini set with an atrocious acoustic blues cover of AC/DC's You Shook Me All Night Long that had all of the middle aged guys who brought their daughters, groaning in disgust.

Oh yeah..

"Youth" by Matisyahu is pretty good, although it'll probably disappoint some of the people leaning towards him after hearing "King Without A Crown"

IOW, following up a single from a live album with a single that has guitar solos will startle some

I like how I still listen to The Wallflowers' Bringing Down the Horse ten years later. Mostly because my other musical tastes during that time were questionable (Third Eye Blind, "Return of the Mack").

Still, the stretch from "One Headlight" to "The Difference" is gangbusters.

One Headlight and Heros are still kick ass.

WALK AWAY - DROPKICK MURPHY'S

A buddy of mine is a wrestler and was named Dropkick Murphy (obviosuly named after said band) but had to change his name in fear of being sued by the band, since the fed he works for recently got a TV deal.

A still think its awesome he named himself after a band.

The Wallflowers are a perfect example of the sophomore jinx, sadly enough. Bringing Down The Horse was a great album, but in a way, it was *too* good, and they couldn;t follow it up. Every time I hear One Headlight or Heroes on my mp3 player, I think "what the hell happened to that guy?"

Being Dylan's son couldn;t have helped that much in the long run, either.

I've said it before, but I love Sonic Youth so much. Every band I get into, I eventually get a little burned out on, but all I have to do is turn on a (good, they made some serious shit) SY album, and I'll probably hear something I've never heard before.

I saw Pink's "Stupid Girls" video for the first time today, and may I say: zing.

It's no "This One's For You," of course, but it's good for what it is. I've been waiting for someone to use a music video in order to take a shot at some of these airheads.

On the contrary, I can't get into Sonic Youth at all for whatever reason.

I dont get We're Only in It For the Money. It seems like a big joke from start to finish for me.

I want to get into Zappa, so can anyone recommend me some more serious work of his?

YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE!

Electronic:

Jazz From Hell

Frank Zappa Meets the Mothers of Prevention

half of The Perfect Stranger

Jazz:

Hot Rats

Waka/Jawaka

The Grand Wazoo

Sleep Dirt

Broadway the Hard Way

Make a Jazz Noise Here

Classical:

the other half of The Perfect Stranger

The Yellow Shark

and how could I forget Uncle Meat, whatever the fuck that is?

as for WOITFTM: It's not really a joke to me. I think you need to understand late-1960s America, specifically the hippie counterculture. Basically what the album is saying is a simultaneous "fuck you" to both the establishment and the counterculture, both of which Zappa feels are equally shallow and full of shit.

Thank you, I will give We're Only in It For the Money another try soon, but I'll try and look into a few of those as well.

Guest Agent of Oblivion

I wouldn't go that far, unless it's Bongo Fury, or the version of "The Torture Never Stops" off of Cheap Thrills.

Cyber Mark should listen to Freak Out! before he fucks with any of the other 60's material.

Speaking of Beefheart, I couldn't get his saying "GIMMIE THAT OOOLD TAHM RELIJUUUUN" out of my head the other day. By the time I got home, I was too tired to dig out my copy of Trout Mask Replica. If I ever organized my CDs, that wouldn't have been a problem.

I was watching VH1Classic today and they played the video for The Beach Boys' "Kokomo". Back in 1988 I remember this video getting pretty decent airplay on MTV. Then I thought "Could you imagine a twenty year old band's comeback hit getting airplay on MTV today?" Hah.

This is excluding pulling a Carlos Santana and teaming up with hawt modern stars, by the way...
