Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted December 21, 2004 EDIT... NOT RELEASED BUT SIMPLY DISMISSED! Credit: PWTorch.com The original reason behind Heyman's dismissal was thought to have been because he was outspoken, but that may not be the case now. Heyman was apparently dismissed for listening in to a Raw booking meeting without permission. Heyman was allowed access to Smackdown! booking meetings, but not Raw. Before each Raw, the writers take place in conference calls, so they can discuss ideas about the show. Roll is taken at the beginning of each call. A system is in place to announce when anyone joins the call or when someone hangs up. Unexpectedly during a recent Raw meeting, the system announced that a person had left. Stephanie took roll and everyone was still there. The WWE was fearful that someone had breached their system, but they were able to track the number in the call and the number belonged to Paul Heyman. This was the last straw for Heyman and he was put on leave of absence by Stephanie. It is still uncertain if this will be permanent. Vince basically had to convince Stephanie to let Heyman back on the booking team the last time there were problems and she was reluctant to do so. This time around, it might be impossible to convince her. So to sum it up, the reason as to Heyman being dimissed may not be because he was outspoken, yet rather untrustworthy. spman 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2004 The thing with someone like Heyman though is that he's a valuable commodity, and WWE knows this. If they were to release him from his contract, TNA or any other upstart promotion would snap him up in minutes, and with his knowlege and experience with the buisness, could likely use him to become a major competitor. Once his contract runs out though, Heyman can do whatever the hell he wants though. It's the same thing with Bischoff or any successful writer really. Guest Loss Report post Posted December 22, 2004 They have to tow the line with conference calls, so I can understand the decision. They may speak openly about a wrestler's lack of talent, stuff he should hear to his face anyway if they really want him to improve, but stuff they can say to him in far more diplomatic fashion. Heyman was being dishonest, and they've had problems in the past with writers breaking confidentiality by telling wrestlers things said about them in production meetings. He deserved what he got. SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2004 I wonder how big the brick of shit that drop's in Vince's pants would be, if Heyman ever went to TNA? Vince would just laugh because he knows the politics at TNA are worse than the politics in WWE, and Heyman would be just as bad off.
Kizzo 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2004 How does Vince have to convince Steph of anything? Isn't he still in charge? Yes, he's still in charge....but she is the creative director of the booking team...she appoints the people she wants on her team...wouldn't it be odd for Vince to override her decision when she is the one basically running the department, and the one that has to deal with the person she can't get along with??? Promoter 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2004 I get what some are saying, but isn't it odd that a writer on the creative team can't listen to what's being done on the creative end of the other brand? It's not like they really want them competing anyways as Vince even stated this in the mainstream press. I also thought Heyman was an advisor for both raw and smackdown, but had some input for smackdown because his character and wrestler are on the brand? It's not like it's a wcw booker listening in on a wwf booker's conversation in 1997. This company is horrendous in keeping things secret anyways moreso than Heyman. This is the guy who had his employees paid with wwf money in the monday night war era with having his fanbase not knowing this in fear of the renegade image being destroyed with collecting money from the big wigs. HHH goes on national television on Canada derailing wrestlers all the time without fear of them hearing it, so why is this any different? Who cares it's wcw type news and drama for the net I suppose
Guest ManKinnd Report post Posted December 23, 2004 The rule may be questionable, but not the punishment. If you don't like the way things are, look to change them, not go blatantly against them. Heyman was wrong.
