Guest Failed Mascot Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 So...who picked it up? I went to buy it and was told "No, you have to wait till Christmas!"...bastards.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I picked it up. Great stuff. Homer meeting George Harrison is classic. "Oh my god! Where'd you get that brownie?!"
teke184 Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I picked it up from Target tonight. I didn't realize how many of the great episodes were in that season... I thought that some of them like Homer The Vigilante and Boy Scoutz N' The Hood were in the sixth season instead.
Guest Failed Mascot Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I can't believe I have to wait another 4 days for this. I'm pissed. Stupid Christmas. Any really good extras on it?
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I should have my copy in the mail tomorrow.....at least I'm hoping.
BlackFlagg Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 mine came in the mail yesterday and already watched it all, I knew this was a great season but didn't realize just how great.
Placebo Effect Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 Are there still commentaries on every episode?
cbacon Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 Yup, 3 or 4 with Conan O'Brien. I picked mine up tonight.
NoCalMike Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I picked it up a little bit ago while christmas shopping, along with the rise and fall of ecw. I haven't had time to watch either yet, but I will be soon.
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 i asked for this for christmas but my family while probably buy me a sweater vest instead or something; which is cool because sweater vests are cool.
Guest Failed Mascot Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 i asked for this for christmas but my family while probably buy me a sweater vest instead I'd say maybe Santa would get it for you but you've been a rat bastard all year. You'll recieve nothing but Oliver Stone films this year Banky!
Guest hhheld_down Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 not to change the topic but i believe shaun of the dead is out as well, that motherfucker better be under my tree saturday as well
Downhome Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I got it, along with Napoleon Dynamite.
treble Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I'll get it sometime after Christmas. Hopefully there's some Boxing Week sale to make it a bit cheaper.
DMann2003 Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I have to wait until after Christmas too- Grrr, asked for this, Ultimate Matrix and 24 Season 3. And I saw that Surviving Christmas is already out on DVD- geez not even Gigli had such a quick video release, I mean 2 months from the theater to video shelves that's some kind of new record isn't it. Poor Affleck, he better go cuddle up with Jen Garner's boosom.
Boner Kawanger Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 Have to wait until after Christmas, no way I'll get it before them. Damned release date and free shipping (in five to nine days) from Amazon.
Guest Crazy Dan Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 Fortunately my parental units had yet to get me a present and I was able to mention that this would be a great ideal gift. I had no idea this had been released until I was walking through Target and saw it sitting on the shelf. Season 5 is one of my favorites as it has so many great episodes that are considered classics. Hopefully I will be able to watch Rosebud on Sat.
Star Ocean 3 Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I got it and I didn't even know it was the day it came out...Best Buy has the best price for it, apparently. I haven't even finished the seasons 3 and 4 DVDs, though.
Slayer Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I hope to pick this up tomorrow, and I'm quite eager to get it. This was one of the first seasons where it was noticable when the syndication assholes cut out good scenes.
DerangedHermit Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 I just got it; mmm.......filler. Nah, it's actually very awesome, these disc sets get better and better
tbondrage99 Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 I got mine tonight along with Season 4 which I hadnt gotten yet since it was never around. Now I have all of them out on DVD aside from Season 3 which I still havent seen around. Oh well It will be mine sooner or later.
Bruiser Chong Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Anyone who's on the fence should go get it at BB this week, since you'll get it for over 10 bucks off. I used one of their coupons to score it for $23.99. I thought it'd take me a while to get through it, but I'm already on Disc 3. I'm listening to the commentaries of episodes I've seen a million times. Still good stuff and I hope this proves that commentaries weren't the thing holding these releases up, since they're provided for each show.
Slayer Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 I got it last night and watched Disc 1 before going to bed, then watched Disc 2 this morning. Like I said before, it's amazing how much good stuff was cut out in syndication (most notably in "Rosebud", so far), those bastards.
Guest Dynamite Kido Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 I got mine and started to watch disc two last night. I was pretty pumped as my favorite one of all time was on it. That being "The Last Temptation of Homer"....
NoCalMike Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Regarding Shaun of the Dead. I heard that this release is pretty bare bones and that there is a region two version that is LOADED with extras, so I am gonna try and hold off until Region 1 gets a better release. January is going to be a good month for DVDs for me, I already have Oz season 4, Curb Your Enthusiasm season 3, and Harold & Kumar go to white castle:UNRATED VERSION marked down on the calendar.
DrVenkman PhD Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Figure this one out... I got Simpsons Season 5 in the mail today, and that shiupped on Sunday with standard shipping. Seinfeld - my Christmas present - still remains undelivered, and was shipped 6 days ago with upgraded shipping since the first shipment from November was lost. I did get $10 credit from Amazon out of the whole deal, which made the price of Season 5 low enough I was able to classify that as an additional gift. Of course, this means it has to sit under the tree for a few days, but it's cool.

Besides that everything is practically the same.
DerangedHermit Posted December 24, 2004 Report Posted December 24, 2004 I love the deleted scenes, especially the Bond one (that they had on a clip show) from $pringfield. Bond: "Joker? Deal me another card." *Homer deals* Bond: "Rules for Playing Stud Poker?"
Guest Failed Mascot Posted December 24, 2004 Report Posted December 24, 2004 I love the deleted scenes, especially the Bond one (that they had on a clip show) from $pringfield. Bond: "Joker? Deal me another card." *Homer deals* Bond: "Rules for Playing Stud Poker?" Villian: Looks like you lose Mr. Bond Bond while being dragged off by thugs: Wait, no! I never lose! It was that lousy dealer's fault! At least tell me your diabolical plans. Villian: Oh no. I'm not falling for that again. I want this now! I'm sick of waiting.
Bruiser Chong Posted December 24, 2004 Report Posted December 24, 2004 Classic stuff. I just finished the set as far as episodes go. I'll be skimming through the extra material over the next couple of days. I'm a big Simpsons defender, but it's tough to even think of the current incarnation as the same show when you watch episodes like the ones found in S5. They're just so well-done and dare I say, fulfilling. The ones now are just empty laughs.
