starvenger 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2005 Usually these are the unrated versions, not really the R rated versions. The really annoying thing is only when a movie that blatantly needed to be rated R like A vs. P comes out and it's PG 13. When EVERY film in a series is rated R (hell both series) you can't just go PG 13 without pissing people off. Personally, I think that there's no difference between an 'R' and 'unrated' version of a PG13 movie, simply because when they made the decision to cut it down to PG13, the 'R' version no longer exists for the ratings board to rate. Probably just semantics on my part. The silly thing is that AVP would have made the same amount of money I think. I agree, but that was their decision, so I guess we'll never know. How is someone going to "sell you" on someone you don't like (or probably won't like if you loathed on of his books)? Granted, I haven't read MAXIMUM BOB so it may be his worst book. I could be wrong, of course, since I don't actually live there and you do. Yes there is a P rating although I can't recall any cinematic releases which have been given it. It is widely used on TV for young childrens shows such as Sesame Street. All ratings from P through to MA15+ may be broadcast on television, PG after 7:00pm, M15+ after 8:30pm and MA15+ after 9:00pm. R18+ material is not prohibited. Unfortunatly this means from 7:00pm - 8:30pm we get stuck with B grade american material such as 'My Wife and Kids', 'According to Jim', 'Joey', and about a 1000 Simpsons repeats. Then when 8:30 hits we get the decent M rated stuff such as LOST, CSI:xxx, The O.C. and Desperate Housewives. From 9:00 we get the MA15+ rated shows such as The Shield, 24(Due to Jacks drug use in season3) and The Sopranoes. (Yeah 24 and The Sopranoes have the same rating over here, despite the huge difference in content language wise). I would love to see them do multiple takes of 24 so that international viewers could get a proper swearing Jack Bauer, that 6min short they did of Bauer telling Driscoll to fuck off was gold. We also have a X18+ rating, a criminal offence to supply to a minor, for Pornographic Movies. I'd already heard feedback from Hollywood insiders saying this movie would earn him tremendous respect in the industry and break him out of the "wrestler" typecast. No question he more than held his own with real heavyweights of the industry. The vibe around him was no longer of the wrestling star doing movies, but as a major acting star who years ago was a popular pro wrestler. Movie was fun. Don't know how much they ramped up the Chili-Edie relationship, but the focus of the book is actually Chili-Linda Moon, so who knows? Maybe Christina Milian just didn't cut it... Well, apparently they did exactly that - they ramped up Chili-Edie in order to try and rekindle the Pulp Fiction vibe, and Linda Moon is an afterthought. That kinda sucks. One of the criticisms is how Chili just seems to switch careers, which seems silly because that's more or less what he did in the first movie. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2005 I just saw the movie today and don't believe this crap. Be Cool was a lot of fun, hell it's worth going to see just for Vince Vaughn and The Rock. They were funny as all shit in this. I think they defocused Christina Milian because it's always hard to do movies with "Agent/producer finds mega talent" storylines. I mean it takes a really amazing talent to have that be the main focus and Milian really isn't it. Travolta and Uma are for the most part on auto here but Vaughn and Rocky are GOLD as well as Cedric and Andre from Outkast. Maybe not quite as good as Get Shorty but it's fairly close. It was too long, though, and a little slow in a lot of parts (mainly when the conversation was about Milian). Definitely see Get Shorty before this if you haven't, though. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2005 Yeah the stuff about Mr. Lovejoy, the various Martin Weir as shylock flicks, the Touch of Evil stuff....you have to see Get Shorty to understand a lot of little details in the film. Here's one thing I wondered about though: Did Vince Vaughn die in the film? I know he got set on fire during the video shoot but nothing was really mentioned about him living or dying. razazteca 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2005 I think this was a case of a movie that did not need a sequel just like The Whole Ten Yards. Be Cool seemed like a rehash of Get Shorty with all of the best parts of the orginal redone over and over again. The worst of it was the unwanted guest watching tv or listening to music waiting to kill Chili but he smooth talks them into making a deal with him instead. Whenever Vince Vaugh was on screen it got laughs and made think of John Cena, The Rock was great as the gay body guard, Andre stole all the scenes he was in "Don't give me a gun" was my fav and Cedric was entertaining as usual.
