JoeDirt Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 "As talk continues that WWE plans to put on an ECW PPV on June 12, more information has come out as to what it might be called. On January 18, 2005, WWE got a trademark on the name "ECW ONE NIGHT STAND". That could very well be what they call the show, which is already slated to take place in New York City. WWE has not confirmed yet that they will do the ECW show but sources within the company have told us that they expect it to happen." --PWInsider.com
ChrisMWaters Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 If Survivor Series wasn't that month, they should have just used November to Remember.
ChrisMWaters Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 November to Remember in June? ...hence the message "If Survivor Series Wasn't That Month" Meaning they should have done it in November. ...heck, they could have used Heat Wave, Guilty as Charged, Anarchy Rulz...any of those would have worked better than "One Night Stand" for an ECW PPV.

I'd go with Heatwave or Hardcore Heaven.
Guest The Shadow Behind You Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 He's saying they should have had the PPV in November. N2R was the worst name they used anyways. Yes, worst then Hardcore Heaven or Anarchy Rulz or Heat Wave or WrestlePalooza.
Guest Super Pissed Smark Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 ECW: In Name Only ECW: This Will Suck ECW: We Fucked Up ECW: We're Sorry, but RVD hurt his knee so it's Dreamer-Spike Dudley in the main. ECW: Do Not Order ECW: Have We Fired Paul? ECW: Tazz on Commentary ECW: The night we looked at the line, thought it was a long ways away, and decided that not only were we not going to cross it, but we weren't even going to attempt to get close to it, so there. ECW: Only an hour of Triple-H and Evolution on this show No, seriously, this will be great. You go Vince.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 I know. I got it. Anyways, they should still have used an actual ECW PPV name. If they have no problems taking names from WCW (GAB) why not from ECW, considering its an ECW PPV....
The Czech Republic Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 It's not like the show is gonna happen anyway. Who cares?

Lil' Bitch Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 I would have gone with Hardcore Heaven myself since that's the closest PPV ECW had to June.
Guest netslob Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Wrestlepalooza...i always liked that one.
clean rob Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 I have low expectations for the show (not as low as Super Pissed Smark I guess though...), but I actually think this name is pretty good. It fits. And it's about a hundred steps up from Taboo Tuesday.
King Cucaracha Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 They shouldn't use a real name because the real name PPVs would give the impression that they're continuing on from ECW. They're not. They're putting on ONE show, for one night. Hence they need a title that'll reflect that, to stop people thinking "WOW, ECW IS BACK1!!1!" And in the circumstances (Taboo Tuesday), it could have been a lot worse than One Night Stand. I like it actually.
tbondrage99 Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Its going to be in New York? You would think they would have it in Philly.
Guest Hass of Pain Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 I think the name is pretty much perfect and it sounds like a name ECW would have used in the late 90's if it was fitting. Good work by whoever came up with it.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Will Van Dam be back by then? IIRC RVD is out for 6 months, so the 6th month is June, and I think he will be back in at least an appearing capacity if not wrestling.
CBright7831 Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Maybe Paul's intentions was to see if Vince would be dumb enough to actually do this project, so he suggested it to him. Paul (massaging Vince's feet): And while we're at it, Vince, why don't we put JBL and Big Show in a barbwire match. Vince (petting Triple H on the head): Hhhmmmm. Sure Paul, that sounds great. Paul (thinking to himself): He fell for it. He actually fell for it. I can't believe he's this fucking stupid.
BUTT Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Its going to be in New York? You would think they would have it in Philly. I'm guessing they didn't want to do it in Philly because Viking Hall is, with all due respect, a pretty crappy arena, and it holds around 1500 people (not to mention WWE is realistic about what kind of crowd an ECW show would draw, and most other venues in Philly are too big for ECW). The Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center is a very nice building (it was the original home of Raw) and it holds around 2500, I think, not to mention ECW did many popular shows there in their final months; in fact, I remember one of the major New York newspapers (the Daily News or the Post, I'm not sure which) ran it as a front-page story when ECW did their first show there.
tpww7 Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Yep they ran a story about the August 2000 Tag Title Tourney shows at the Hammerstein.
Guest MikeSC Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 They could use ECW: This Time, The Checks Won't Bounce -=Mike
Guest Billy White Shoes Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 If Van Dam isn't going to be able to wrestle by then they should just scrap the whole thing right now. Or at least push it back to when RVD returns. Van Dam is the first guy who comes to mind when you say "ECW" that is on the WWE roster right now.
Jingus Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 Alright, let's start guessing what the card will be. My main question: will Vince bring in non-WWE wrestlers on this show? In theory the WWE has enough guys who worked in ECW at some time or another to put on an entire show with their own crew, but it'd just be weird having an ECW show without Jerry Lynn, Sandman, Raven, etc. Plus, who knows if guys like Tommy Dreamer, Lance Storm, Tazz, or Sabu would be physically able to wrestle or not.
Jericholic82 Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 how about ECW: We're Not WWES Competition, WE SWEAR (as on the dvd wher Vince basically treats them well, showing he never thought of them as Competition, and since he was bascially bankrolling heyman for a long time, it wasnt) One Night Stand is a decent name for an ECW reunion (which it should be treated as, not all smarks get excited like Special Ed OMG ECW IS BACK YAYYYYYYYYYYYYY-ECW IS DEAD AND IT SHOULD STAY THAT WAY) honestly how many of you would actually order this ppv? I wouldnt (although I hardly ever order ppvs so no big shock there lol) man that came off kinda mean there, geez Im sorry you guys I LOVE YOU GUYS......................EHHHT SCREW YOU GUYS IM GOING HOME
