CBright7831 Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Wow! Here is another picture. This movie is going to be awesome. Thoughts?
2GOLD Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 That the movie has already been remade and didn't need to be remade again. Good director but I'm not interested. Seen the original, seen the crappy remake and seen the crappy sequel.
CBright7831 Posted February 1, 2005 Author Report Posted February 1, 2005 I like to forget the 1976 remake the sequel to the 76 remake never happened. Kind of the like the 1998 Godzilla movie. Ronald Emmerich raped my favorite monster!!!!

edotherocket Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 When are we going to get a trailer for this?
Use Your Illusion Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 The artwork is great, however that says nothing about what the movie is going to be like. Plus, we haven't even been given a trailer yet, so I don't think there is much ground for anyone to be saying 'it will be awesome' just yet.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 If it's the Naomi Watts of 22 Grams or Muholland Drive, then that's a good step, however if it's the Naomi Watts of The Ring or Le Divorce, then pass.
edotherocket Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Its pretty cool in the original King Kong when he fights the T-Rex, they actually modelled their motion on a couple of wrestlers. It's not often you get to see a giant monkey apply a front facelock on a dinosaur.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Kinda funny the dumb monkey is holding the chick up next to the one dinosaur's mouth. I was always a Godzilla fan...
CBright7831 Posted February 1, 2005 Author Report Posted February 1, 2005 Anyways I will reserve my judgment til I find out who Jackson cast in the Fay Wray role. Naomi Watts .... Ann Darrow Jack Black .... Carl Denham Adrien Brody .... Jack Driscoll Andy Serkis .... King Kong/Lumpy the Cook http://imdb.com/title/tt0360717/?fr=c2l0ZT...fc=2;ft=25;fm=1

Guest Vitamin X Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Andy Serkis .... King Kong/Lumpy the Cook Now THAT'S interesting.
cabbageboy Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Oh god, Adrien Brody as the HERO in this version? Isn't there some sort of macho dude out there that could have done this better? Naomi Watts is ok but not remotely on Fay Wray's level of hotness. Jack Black as Denham is an interesting choice though, I kinda like it. Why do I have a feeling that this movie won't make as much money as they are hoping? My feelings on it are "It might be ok, but why remake King Kong? I can just watch the original and it still holds up quite well for its age."
Dobbs 3K Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 I dunno...I think it will do well. A lot of people (especially teenagers and stuff), haven't seen the original. I just hope it doesn't turn out to a Jerry Bruckheimer-esque big budget schlock-fest...though Peter Jackson directing pretty much guarantees it will be good, as far as I'm concerned.
edotherocket Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Will this version retain the grubby Chinese chef, primitive islanders who steal away the white woman and the explorers randomly shooting a brontosaurus that wasn't attacking them I wonder?
MarvinisaLunatic Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 When are we going to get a trailer for this? This Sunday...Im willing to bet. They always put big summer blockbuster movie Trailers on during the Super Bowl. Last year I remember "Hidalgo" and "Troy" ...and there was "50 First Dates" and "Miracle" as well. The year before I remember there were quite a few : "Hulk", "The Matrix" sequels, "X Men 2", "Daredevil", "Anger Management", "Bruce Almighty", "Terminator 3" and "Bad Boys 2"
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 I have very little interest in this. They'll do something to fuck this up like every other remake out there.
cabbageboy Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 Mega classics shouldn't be remade. If you do it too different like the 1976 film (Jeff Bridges looked like he was auditioning for The Dude there, haha) then people cry sacrilege. If you film it again scene for scene, people trash it like the 1998 Psycho. What would be sad is if this King Kong actually overtakes the original in popularity much like the Pacino Scarface did the original.
edotherocket Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 The remade Ocean's Eleven was better than the original. Any of the Peter Jackson LOTR films was better than the Ralph Bakshi one. ...thats all I got.
CBright7831 Posted June 22, 2005 Author Report Posted June 22, 2005 Just in case you were sleeping under a rock — the two minute and thirty second 'King Kong' teaser trailer will be shown on all NBC affiliated networks Monday, June 27, from 8:59:30-9:02 PM ET.
Dangerous A Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 I heard Kong will have a ton more agility thanks to CGI advancements. I heard he'll be jumping around and moving like the newest Hulk movie movements.
bobobrazil1984 Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 is WETA doing the effects for it? That scene pictured will kick all kinds of ass if their work is as good as the LOTR work.
cabbageboy Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 Thing is, stuff like the original Ocean's 11 wasn't really a classic anyway. It's a fair/decent movie and there was room for improvement. And with the Bakshi LOTR, hell that wasn't really too good to begin with and only goes to Helms Deep. Huge room for improvement there (though the animated LOTR does clarify a few things that were confusing to me in the movies). Adrien Brody as our hero (here recast as a sensitive playwright rather than a tough sailor) already has me cringing.
CBright7831 Posted June 23, 2005 Author Report Posted June 23, 2005 Quick clip of the teaser trailer in NBC ad - features T-Rex and Kong
Soja Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 Quick clip of the teaser trailer in NBC ad - features T-Rex and Kong <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's some quality CG love-handles on that T-Rex.

Just because I don't watch NBC, along with quite a bit of television as it is, doesn't make me "sleeping under a rock".

Calm the fuck down, and don't get so hostile. I copied and pasted that part from another board. I never realized that would offend anyone. I guess I'll change it since people are getting emotional.
Lil' Bitch Posted June 23, 2005 Report Posted June 23, 2005 Kinda funny the dumb monkey is holding the chick up next to the one dinosaur's mouth. I was always a Godzilla fan... Godzilla won the fight damn it!

How about the William Wyler version of Ben Hur, compared to the silent version? Twelve Monkeys as a remake of La Jetee? Heat as a remake of LA Takedown?
