starvenger Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 MASK(I believe this is what it was called, the one where the car doors would open and the cars would be able to fly) M-M-M-MASK...Always riding hot on VENOM's trail... I still have a few of those on my Hard drive. EDIT: Also, with what Spiff said... my favorite was "Stiletto On." Got the series on VHS, but I don't think it's that obscure. Same with Battle of the Planets.
Guest Reservoir_Kitty Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Sweet. Snorks, He-Man/She-Ra, Thundercats, the Mario cartoons, Smurfs, Jem and the Holograms - now, I didn't think this was obscure, but I was talking about it to a couple of my friends and they thought I was out of my mind. *shakes head*

Guest sek69 Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 What's sad is how many of these shows I only saw because they were on TBS before WCW Saturday Night.

Same with Battle of the Planets. MASK isn't obscure, but judging by the median age of the board, most people are too young to have watched it during its initial run. Battle of the Planets I would say is obscure, since I had to google "1980's cartoons" to even remember the title of the cartoon.
Spaceman Spiff Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Am I the only one who watched Star Blazers?
starvenger Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Battle of the Planets I would say is obscure, since I had to google "1980's cartoons" to even remember the title of the cartoon. It's because most people remember it as "G-Force" or "Gatchaman", I think. Am I the only one who watched Star Blazers? I'm more a Robotech guy, myself.
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Beetle Bailey : The Cartoon Ditto Police Academy
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Beakman's World (not a cartoon but this seems to be a completely forgotten kids show) I just bought Beakman's world on DVD for 5 bucks at Amazon

Star Ocean 3 Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 That was a book series more than a cartoon I think. But I can't think of the name either. Yeah, they were primarily books. Someone must know this. Mr. Men www.mrmen.com
Ted the Poster Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 This just popped into my head... Samurai Pizza Cats I raise you Cowboys of Moo Mesa I remember the arcade game based on that show. Awesome.
GreatWhiteNope Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 This just popped into my head... Samurai Pizza Cats I raise you Cowboys of Moo Mesa I remember the arcade game based on that show. Awesome. Ever play the "Cadillacs and Dinosaurs" arcade game? Highly underrated.
Vyce Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 They're so bad... Yes! That show desperately needs a DVD release. And this thread is really bringing back the memories.
The Amazing Rando Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Ah...Robotech was awesome. I contend that the Voltron Lions > Voltron Cars. They even did battle at one point.
starvenger Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 I contend that the Voltron Lions > Voltron Cars. They even did battle at one point. I have that one on tape too (thank you, Motor City Comicon. Also thank you for having Aria Giovanni show up). Sadly, it's not as good as you'd hope it would be. Then again, it's spliced from two different Japanese series, so there's only so much you can do. Yeah, I only know about it because Cartoon Network aired G-Force around 1993-1994. There's BotP DVD's on sale which not only have BotP eps, but the (much more violent) Gatchaman eps they were based on, AND an Eagle Riders (I think) ep as well, so you can compare the different shows. There's also a Gatchaman 95 DVD out, which updated the series, and Jun/Princess is more, um, bouncy - if you're into that sort of thing.
Guest jm29195 Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 There was this show, people fighting against these giant plants in space, and the plants were sort of hybrided with cars, anyone remember what that was??
Use Your Illusion Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Anyone ever see a cartoon called Techno Man? I can barely remember it, but it was largely Japanese influenced with a guy who would get into this huge robot suit and fight aliens etc. Was a really great series that had a nice ending to it.

MrRant Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 These shows are neither obscure nor forgotten.
alfdogg Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Good to know I'm not the only one who remembers Mr. Bogus.
SuperJerk Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Bionic Six Anybody watch "Jem"? My older sister got me hooked on it. Those bitches were hot.
starvenger Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Bionic Six Anybody watch "Jem"? My older sister got me hooked on it. Those bitches were hot. Actually, for a show that had eps that were (at various times) 10, 15 or 30 minutes long, it was pretty good. Odd thought, but was Jem a model for Sharon Apple in Macross Plus?
Guest Fook Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Anyone here ever watch Toxic Crusaders?

I remember them being 30 minutes. Jem was based on a Hasbro toy, and the cartoon was made by the same studio that did GI Joe and Transformers.
starvenger Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 I remember them being 30 minutes. Jem was based on a Hasbro toy, and the cartoon was made by the same studio that did GI Joe and Transformers. It was kinda weird. They started off with a half-hour block consisting of 10-minute (incl commercials) eps of Jem, Bigfoot and Robotix. Then, they moved to 15 minutes each with the shows rotating (I think they added a different show here as well). Finally, Jem got the full 1/2 hour, and the others went away.
