So in less than one school year away from home, my dog has died from cancer at the age of 7, both of my parents have undergone surgery to get benign tumors removed, and today my older cat had to be put to sleep because her kidneys were failing. She was almost 18 and was really healthy until I went back for second semester and everything started going bad. She didn't eat or drink at all last week except for when I visited on the weekend and she tried to convince me that she was okay or something. I guess as soon as I went back to school, she went back to being sick, and couldn't even walk or move much. It's pretty sad, because she had always been sort of my buddy all these years. She was only six months younger than I am, and she had always been closest to me because of the three houses we've lived in, my room was always her favorite one to sit on the bed or windowsill of and listen to birds, or sleep, or whatever it was she did. There's probably a picture of her as a kitten in my crib somewhere. She was interesting in that she never meowed typically, it was more of a "rah" sort of chirping/quacking noise. So yeah, it's just really upsetting for me. Sorry for reinstating the old "Czech Republic turns the board into his blog" thing from the summer, but I just felt like writing stuff down. But wow, I leave the house, everything goes to hell

Yeah, you selfish prick. If you had only stayed at home and used your tumor preventing dog cancer destroying old ass cat fountain of youth powers that you apparently have, it wouldn't have happend. It is obviously all your fault.

Clearly. I've been told I have that effect on people.

I can't even take my above post seriously with an Iraqi raising the roof flanked by dancing Kool-Aid men.

Last night I remembered how to get the Frog ending in Chrono Trigger. It just came out of nowhere.

Czech, I feel for you here man. I've grown up with my cat who's an extremely healthy and extremely active 11 1/2 years old through the umm... 6 different homes we've had the pleasure of sharing during her lifetime, and she's been the same way with me. I'm extremely close to her and could imagine that I'd feel like shit in your spot, too.

Stop leaving your cats out in the middle of the road and you won't have that problem.

That's why dogs are tight. You hit a dog with a car once, and they totally get what the deal is, and stay out of trouble forever. Every dog I've ever had has gotten hit by a car, but they always end up fine, and they learn a valuable lesson.

At least your kitty lived a long, happy life. My one kitty died at age 4 back in November. We got him as a stray and he had so many things wrong with him when he got sick. He put up one hell of a fight for two months before passing, but yeah, it hurts when they go...

I have a 14 year old cat that has been my buddy since I was nine and a half years old. He shows no real sign of old age besides not being able to jump over the backyard fence like he used to as a young kitten, still though he is going in for a blood test just to make sure everything is ok since it has been two years since he had a checkup *fingers crossed*

Yeah I guess the vet said that he was surprised how hard she was fighting, as she was down to like a third of a kidney. She never got sick before, remarkably.

It barely showed anything at all. FAR worse things get posted.

Stop stealing my gimmick, Czechy.

I've got a cat who's, uh, I dunno, maybe about 12. She's got a couple of small bald patches under her chin and around her ears, and is generally kinda cranky and listless, but shows no overt signs of aging.

Good thing Banky is away or else he would have made an appearance by now in this thread and probably started one of his own in HD.

Oh, and what's odd is that about two months after Shadow died (he was a black short hair) a black long hair cat appeared at my front door in single-digit-degree weather, so of course I took him in. And two months to the day when the better half and I took Shadow to the vet to get him creamated we took Max in to get checked up/fixed/etc...

So what would the end result be if Czech, Jingus, and a kitten were kept in a room for several months?

Everything would be fine until I ran out of cigarettes and went to go buy more. Then Muggy would suddenly discover that he's had terminal lung cancer for the past year and the kitten would spontaneously combust.

How the hell does Muggy figure into this?

Sorry. Confused this thread with the breast cancer one in HD.

Oh man I'm on drugs right now. (And was when I posted the post in question, too.)

When we took Shadow to the vet where he stayed for 10 days, the vets and techs were amazed because he red blood cell count was so low he should have been dead. It was heartbreaking the morning of his death because we had to manually feed him and give him medication, and when we put him up on the counter he began wimpering as if to say he had given up and was ready to go. It made me sick to my stomach to hear him, but a few hours later he was in peace. My only regret is that I would have been with him when he finally went -- I was in another room when he died... :(

Since somebody removed my act of goodwill towards that shit stain TheCzechReublic I will instead share a story to ease the hurt he's going tru.

Back a few years ago I had this party to do for a little girl that was 7 years old. I have the parents emails me the picture of the child I'm doing the party for so I know which runt to go up to when getting there. I got the pic which had the girl holding a white cat and the words "Jill and Mr. Puffles" typed up with it. So I printed the picture up and made my way over there to perform. While backing into the drive way I felt a weird bump on the passenger side of my Wagoneer. I got out and wouldn't you know it was Mr. Puffles. I had runned over her cat and he was now stuck to the driveway and a bit of him was on my tire too. I decided the best form of action would be to go into my wagoneer and take the shirt off of my Ventriliquist Dummy to place over Mr. Puffles. I also removed the scented tree from my rear view mirror and taped it to his side where a weird smell had started to come out. I put a party hat on the kitty to complete the costume and walked into the backyard where all the kids was happy to see Grumco. Little Jill saw Mr. Puffles and right away laughed at her friend's new occupation of clown sidekick. I took the cat and held it by its front paws and then mades it look like it was dancing across the picanic table, but that's when the real trouble started. The tape gave way and my little scented tree fell and with it Mr. Puffles insides landing in the Chex Party Mix below. The kids ran screaming in terror and because of this Grumco had to pay a hundred fifty dollars for the mess rather than makes his normal eighty dollars performance fee.

So you sees sometimes it is better to accept the death and hide it in a hedge thans to dress it up in happy costumes and dwell on it.
