Orton's RAW promo

Recommended Posts

Over? If it weren't for the females in the crowd, the arena would be in dead silence when he comes out. That's how it's always been.

As an Orton fan, I can say...yea that's probaly true. But ONLY since his face turn. Did you not hear (For one..the heel heat boos, not X-pac heat when he was a heel) and the eventual cheering Orton got from everyone, Female AND Male after he was established as the 'cool, cocky, badass heel'. etc. He was simply over. Girls liked him..evidently for the same reasons they do now, and guys liked him, I guess for the effect I have in quotes.

And the only reason the crowd stopped getting behind Orton is for the same reason that all the "Ortonpologists" (w/e the hell that is :S) are saying. They turned him face to fast, and thefucked up his character, and they pretty much made him look like a bitch for a few months. This is why yea...now all he is getting is female cheers.

Orton and Batista were in the same position. Now people are saying Batista's so over with the marks and the smarks because he has character. And he's been built up greatly, and everything. Thing is, if it was Orton in the exact same position, I have reason to believe that he'd be just as over as Batista, and the marks would love him, as well as there would be smarks who'd jump on his bandwagon.

So more then likely, he has the potential, but, when he had a chance to show they potential most, they had him 'spit in HHHs face, and run from him every week'.

The only way Undertaker should win is if Undertaker sells like mad for him, Orton almost wins, then switches to Smackdown and feuds with him there until eventually beating him at Summerslam or even WM22.

The only reason I can think of to not let Orton go over is that the match itself hasn't been built up long enough yet.

As far as this "Orton only gets teenage girl pops goes", last fall (before Triple H buried him), he was getting good reactions from a pretty desent cross-section of the audience. (I'm basing this on my attendance of a Raw taping last September, where roughly 30-40% of the audience was wearing "Legend Killer" t-shirts.)

He put over HHH as great. YOU ARE A KILLER AND WE WANT TO SEE YOU MURDER HHH. DONT PUT HIM OVER. Dont play that bullshit respect card. BE A FUKIN MONSTER.

He was passive and nervous with his "week after" promo. He has a stupid and cheesy hand signal now. He is just anotehr big guy now, no uniqueness.

Orton played the exact same respect card in his promo against Undertaker last night.

None of this can be blamed on Orton or Batista though. They are told what to say. And in order not to offend the senior citizens backstage, they have to cut these "I respect you" promos.

Book both of them right, and they could be stars for years to come.

Book them badly (which is a dangerous possibility for both) and they'll die.

Over? If it weren't for the females in the crowd, the arena would be in dead silence when he comes out. That's how it's always been.

From Backlash 2004 - the Raw after SummerSlam 2004, yes, Orton had the crowd involved in his matches.

Orton really was popular through that stretch. It was only when he turned face that he suddenly "had no future".

Peple really need to get over this streak actually meaning something. It's one of those things that has been hyped up to be so much more than it is.

It sure doesn't mean PPV buys. They're going to be pushing Orton in the future, like it or not. He's young, is a decent worker, and has charisma. He's only 25. He's had a huge ascent in a short time and he needs this win a lot more than Undertaker needs to protect a meaningless streak.

People like to claim how "not over" Orton is, but he's really just in the middle.

He had momentum after Survivor Series and had some after his first reign.

He was booked horribly at the time of the Rumble, but that's no reason for everyone to suddenly proclaim he'll never be a big star.

This win *and the proper follow up* would do wonders for him.

Wow, a note to all aspiring hosses out there, wear a nice suit and some cool sunglasses and you'll somehow win over the internet crowd to the point where they think you should win the title in the main event of a WM or end Taker's streak or hell why not just do both and kill two birds with one stone....

Why don't you kindly shut the fuck up? You're adding nothing to this discussion, and frankly the other Orton fans have much better points to add to this discussion than your repetitive anti-smark horseshit and strawman arguments.

Batista stills sucks in the ring, but he's gotten over a lot more with less. Nobody said Orton was heatless either. We're saying he's getting mid-card reactions and is getting less heat than he should have gotten.

If Batista wins, he'll still have heat but he'd need another decent program or two if he were to become an established big name. You know, just like any new champion? It's why Benoit's reign sucked. It's why Orton's reign sucked. Once the chase is over you have to switch gears. It's going to take more work to make a new face champ worth cheering for against his challengers than it would for an established face champ.

Batista will remain over if:

1) He beats HHH at WM. Clean.

2) He beats HHH in the rematches. Clean.

3) HHH acts majorly humbled by the losses and not "Keep it warm for me Batista."

4) HHH moves down and get involved in a midcard feud, and Raw is not built around him.

5) Batista has a decent reign length. These bullshit token one or two month face reigns have to stop.

6) They continue to write promos where Batista's opponent does most of the talking and whining, and Batista responds with a few comments that make him a subtle smartass and badass. He should not do 20 minute blab fests. Nobody should, but that's another matter.

7) They build up some strong heels for him to face after HHH. This is by far and away the biggest concern, because Raw does not have any other strong heels. They need to start building some, like two months ago. If Orton beats the Undertaker, he *might* be able to pass for a strong heel.

In short, smart protective booking, which has gotten over every other star since the dawn of time, will get Batista over and keep him over. Whether or not he gets it is another matter.

Orton pretty much has to go over if they want him to have any kind of credability.

I won't even touch whether or not he deserves to.

It is the worst thing that would happen. You can't just put Steven Richards over HHH because the fans wouldn't buy it. He has to earn credibility first, at least enough so that the fans would buy him going over Taker. Trust me, the fans will shit all over it if Orton wins.

He has to job clean. Anything else is the wrong decision.

He was more than taken seriously during his run as a heel. The fans didn't shit all over it when he went over Foley, they won't shit on him going over the Undertaker when he does.

I didn't read the whole thread at it seemed more like "he should win!" "No he shouldn't" for the first few pages with nothing more. So, if I;m repeating anyone, it's not intentional.

I think he needs to work on his promo skills but he got over as a heel last night and it was done almost right. Orton should have grabbed the mic after the RKO and said the line about "If I did this to my girlfriend..." and he should have shown no remorse for it on the way back to locker room. He should have been posing on the ropes while they carted the bitch off. He should not care about or respect anything but himself and Stacy should come back to him. I think they can build a Savge/Liz type deal out of them with Stacy being the devoted love slave and Orton treating her like shit. As long as JR doesn't kick it into hyperdrive the first week of the angle and go on and on about how she should leave him it could work. They could play it up for months with maybe a few of the divas tlaking to her about him being a prick and build it up to her eventually leaving him and taking on another guy to gain her revenge. This would actually give Orton and Stacy defied characters, which is a novel concept in WWE these days. Orton needs to be a total dick next week and really turn up the volume on his heel turn and then go over Taker at WM. A DQ win is bullshit and does nothing for either guy. If Taker's streak is ended by a DQ it's a huge waste. Taker needs to lose clean to the RKO in a evenly fought match. None of this total Taker domination bullshit before a fluke roll up. They need to put Orton over strong and move him to SD! to feud with Cena over the title and tell HHH that under no circumstances are the words "Randy Orton" to come out of his mouth during a promo for any reason.

just saw this on 411...

- Randy Orton is working despite a shoulder injury. He is expected to be sidelined following WrestleMania. WWE is trying to keep him as healthy as possible so he can work his 'Mania match with The Undertaker.

Now I think they're gonna put Undertaker over. I don't think they'll let Randy beat the Undertaker and then dissapear for a little while.

Why not have this?

Ref bump, RKO, it becomes obvious Orton would have the Undertaker pinned and the streak would be over if the ref would just make the count.

Randy helps up the ref and Taker still only manages to kick out at two. Orton gets pissed cause he knows he had Taker, he knows he had him. Have Orton kick out of the Taker's chokeslam to show how much heart he has going for him and DECIDE THE MATCH based on the crowd reaction.

If the crowd at Mania wants Taker pinned, let Orton have the pin. If they don't, have Randy go for a top rope move and just get caught with the tombstone. Send him to Smackdown and give the Undertaker no credit. Say "I beat myself, you never beat me Taker" and just feud till Randy RKO's for a three at a major show (someone said Summerslam which I agree with) leading to Cena/Orton for the title.

Batista can feud with Hassan, Edge (who needs rebuilding), and anyone else who can be built up and Smackdown gets a heel superstar in the making.

Anybody notice that TSN didn't edit the RKO on Stacey?

Maybe they thought the bitch had it coming.

Because no one comes out of a long program with Taker more over. Taker will dominate the feud and make Orton look like a pile of shit until Summerslam and then say that since he's not over that he shouldn't lose to the guy. They need to do the win for Orton at WM. Orton losign does way more to hurt him than a loss would Taker. Taker is 42 years old and presumably won't be active all that much longer. Orton is 24 and has years and years left in him. They have to bite the bullet and give Orton the big push and keep him heel. Having the fans decide who wins the match in a face/heel match is not a good idea. They're going to go with the face. Having the fans (who are generally not looking at the long term) dictate the finish of a match where one guy has been pushed to the moon for 15 years and never loses at the biggest PPV of the year and the other has been victimize by bad booking and being on the same show as HHH is not really fair to Orton. If they have a good match with a clean finish the crowd won't care that Taker lost. If it's a fluke or filled with ref bumps and other horseshit then they'll shit on it. It's all about the booking. HHH beat Foley clean at 2 straight PPVs in early 2000 and the fans didn't shit on the outcome because the matches were good, weren't overbooked and had clean finishes. If they book the match to make Taker look way better than Orton and have Orton get the win somehow no one gains from it and both are hurt, especially Orton.

Okay first off, nice of you to just quote the first part of my post that took up about 1/8 of what I said. But the fact is what I said is completely true anyway. NO ONE here(okay, maybe like 2 people) liked Batista and the nhe shows up at Mania 20 wearing a nice suit and sunglasses and for days 500 posts were popping up with "OMG PIMPTISTA!" in it. He got over with the smart crowd by wearing a suit. Now your dumbass can try and deny that fact, but everyone here knows that it's true.

Furthermore, by not quoting the rest of my post you left out the part where I was the first person in this thread to put more than "Orton needs to win" as reason as to why a win would help him and since my post the rest of the Orton should win supporters have been using wha I said as their points as well. Now this isn't because I discovered some great secret or anything, these were all very obvious points, I was just the first to point them out in this thread. I see you took a piece of it as well with your "this is wh yOrton's reign sucked" line. Guess you aren't adding anything significant to this thread either....

Anyway, not that I'm done with the guy who is obviously mad because I pointed out that he picks his favorite wrestlers based on their attire, I want to move on to something a little earlier in the thread, the short argument over who is winning at Mania. As of right now, I would definately put my money on HHH. Batista has gotten the best of H since the feud started which tells me that they are running the cowardly heel looks like he can't beat the monster but somehow does anyway storyline. HHH has not one-uped Batista ONE time in this storyline. So unless something happens on next weeks Raw, I say Trips is definately walking out of Mania with the title.

You're spot on about Batista. I could not for the life of me figure out why everybody here was spooging in their pants over a roid freak in a designer suit and sunglasses. The guy sucks. I've asked before for someone to name a good match that he's had without someone named Benoit or Michaels as his opponet and nobody answered. I asked for someone to name good promo he's cut and no one answered. The gut is boring. Watch his match at WM 20. He gets the tag when Rock is down adn waht does he do? He hits him a couple of weak lookig punches and then starts shoulder blocking him in the corner. Batista was a shitty monster heel and is a shitty monster face. He's imobile in the ring and wrestles exactly like Tomko, Masters, and every other shitty hoss who OVW was forced to turn out. That beign said he still needs to win the belt at WM if for no other reason than to transition it to someone else not name HHH. Maybe if Batista cycled downa little bit and worked on flexibility and being slightly explosive in his matches I'd find him entertaining. I liked Goldberg because of those reasons and he used original moves. Batista sucks and has no redeeming wrestling value other than looking good in a suit.

Sorry for the tagent. Orton should still win at WM. He has some in ring talent and will get better (he's only 24) and will also improve his delivery of promos. Taker is old, washed up, and played out. It's past time for some new blood at the top of the card. I'm not even really a fan of Orton, but looking at the state of WWE right now he absolutely needs to go over clean.

In my half-ass paying attention to this folder during my time here, I don't think it was right after WMXX when people started getting on the Batista wagon, but rather after the Orton turn post-Summerslam when Batista actually started getting mic time as opposed to just being silent big'um hoss behind Flair and Trips. Then it seemed like quite a few people were saying "Maybe the E should have pushed him instead of Orton"

I've always liked Batista. He's got an incredible look and he's a pretty good worker for a big guy.

I never thought of him as a future main eventer though but the feud with HHH has been great. I hope they port some hosses from SD or have him switch shows with the belt after Mania so he can have hosses to fight against.

It was actually around December when everyone seemed to be jumping on the "Pimpista~!" bandwagon. Notice most are jumping of after they've realized that he is nothing more than a roid freak in a nice suit? Poeple here were jerking off over him and got delusional enough to say that he was a good worker or a good big man and he is neither. He's actually a poor worker and shitty big man.

The reaction wasn't just a ho hum, "maybe they should have pushed him instead." It was "OMG~! PIMPISTA~! IS THE MAN AND HE RULZ 4 LIFE." All of the sudden 3/4 of the board turned into 5 year old marks.

Orton has been pretty consistantly hated on for as long as I can remember, but of the two I'd much rather have Orton in the main events than Batista. Orton failing wasn't really all his fault. The booking was horrible.

My problem with Orton (again, bearing in mind that before last month when I started watching more often, in the previous two years I've watched RAW maybe once a month) was, at least during his Evolution time, well.. just take everything I said I hated about Triple H's promos in this post, but replace the present tense with future ("I will be the greatest!")

Batista has shown more improvement in the last year than Orton has IMO. He's not great in the ring but he's also had nowhere near the calibur of worker to make him look good like Orton has.

They've both improved a lot.

But if you compare Orton's Raw debut and now, he's at least 3x the worker he was. Batista? He's better, yes. But he's still not great. His matches with Jericho were all extremely awkward. I'd still say Orton has improved more in ring than Batista.

Outside of the ring though, Batista smokes Orton. And not just because Orton tucks his shirt in all the time.

I've been a fan of Batista since his days as Levithan. As for Orton, he just looks like the villian from a Revenge of the Nerds movie with a Lex Luger ability on the mic.

All we need is Spike to come to RAW and defend the honor of Stacy while Orton hangs around with Snitsky who just yells, "NERDS!!!"

End it with Stacy talking about how good Spike is in bed, complete with "Nerds are better in the ring and better...in bed."

Run this angle, I might buy Orton as a heel. Until then, his "future" and "legend killer" gimmicks fall on my deaf ears.
