Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 I think the best he'll get, not that it's even likely, is as someone they'll plug into the main event when they need an extra body. When they do another Elimination Chamber, he'll probably be there to make up the numbers.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 Maybe if >C< started using steriods and gained some muscle mass. He does have the mic skills to be a main eventer but sadly he is too small and looks like a cruiserweight. So unless there is another steroid case that will force WWE to change from bodybuilder freaks to a more normal looking wrestler I don't see Christian getting a title reign any time soon. Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 Could he? I think he could without a doubt. Will they let him be? Probably not.

Guest Coffey Report post Posted March 30, 2005 I think that he could. What's to say that he couldn't? He's not 6'8" and 260lbs? So what? He can work, bump, sell & talk. That's all you need. Not to mention he can be funny, which WWE seem to like. I don't think that you have to have a lot of size to be a viable main eventer. You just have to be bigger than Rey Mysterio & Amazing Red because they look like children. We've seen Christian mean streaks in the past. Anyone can win a match by cheating. Christian seems to be pretty good at cheating. I'm not saying that he'd have to booked like Honky Tonk Man either. His finisher seems to be pretty established. He could hit it on anyone. WWE could build him up. Remember, Chris Jericho was Undisputed Champion and he's not a lot bigger than Christian.
slimm44 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 I think he could...I could see it as a refreshing start of the company. Kind of like when Booker T got the title in WCW. I don't see it immediately happening but in the next couple years if he got the right push.
Highland 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 Remember a few years ago when he had that awesome entrance with the opera music entrance and the glittering lights? He's not getting any higher up the card than he was then.
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 The new music is almost opera good, but much better than generic rock before this one. I can't buy Christian as a top guy because he only has one name. See also: Batista. "Edge" can slip through the cracks because the guitarist from U2, I guess. And Edge is sharp and quick and....uh, edgy? But a guy just named "Christian?" Do you at least see what I'm trying to say?
tbondrage99 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 With people like Angle, Jericho, Benoit and Eddie winning the world title I cant see the siae thing being that big of an issue anymore. As far as Christian being a main eventer. I could see it easily myself but then again Im yet another big Christian fan. He has all the skills required for it all he needs is the proper push. Maybe Christian can find that push as a face? Hes pretty much been a heel the entire time he was there except for a few months after he and Edge left The Brood, and since he was still teaming with Edge during his little bit of face time we hardly saw any personality from him at all. For all anyone knows Christian could be huge as a face.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 Czech Republic...I agree 100%, and I've been saying that for years. I think one of the first rules of naming a wrestler should be if you can picture hearing "Here is your winner...and NEW WWE Champion..._insert name here_". With "Christian" it just doesn't work. Maybe he could take up the name Christian Cage like he had in the indys before joining WWE. That would be better.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 Remember, Chris Jericho was Undisputed Champion and he's not a lot bigger than Christian. ...not a good example if you think he could be a believable main eventer. I think Christian could be, but he'd have to have the right character, and I don't think he's hit on one that works well enough to be a main eventer. Plus, it wouldn't hurt if another steroid scandal reduced the size of your average WWE wrestler. Christian would be able to look like a competive guy next to guys the size of HBK and Bret Hart. Aero 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 I think he can main event. Whether or not he'll ever get a World Title is questionable, but then again, who ever thought guys like Bradshaw (who was a mid-carder and below for years) and Eddie Guerrero (a former WCW Cruiserweight Champion) would actually become World Champ one day? I don't think Christian's size is stopping him since Eddie, who's about the same size more or less, has been a solid main eventer for over a year. He could probably benefit by going to Smackdown post-WM if he doesn't win the Ladder match. I wouldn't mind seeing a Cena-Christian feud, despite having to endure likely annoying CLB raps and what not.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 Christian has been, for me, possibly the least interesting person on Raw since the split. I simply can't get excited about the guy at all. Even when I was a Raw recapper here briefly I'd just gloss over his matches.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 Every generation has to have its Tito Santana types, just solid journeymen who get to roughly the IC level but never really beyond that. I know it's a weird comparison since the two aren't much alike but I'm just tossing a name out there. Christian isn't really a guy I think is a main event type. As a singles wrestler the guy is simply like watching paint dry in a regular wrestling match. Too many chinlocks and resting (though he has cut back on it a bit), no real must see characteristics. I find him amusing at times in a scumbag heel sort of way, but not in a way that would make me pay to see him get his ass kicked.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted March 30, 2005 He'd have to do a lot of work moveset wise to ever be a credible main eventer with fans. Right now he's boring when he has to get in the ring and he'll have to control the flow of matches with a guy like Batista.
Guest Thrashist Report post Posted March 30, 2005 It's weird, even after all of these years, Christian doesn't seem like he's been damaged much. Even while getting prominent TV time, and even while jobbing frequently, the guy has always just been 'there'. So while he hasn't been a guy I would consider 'held down', he still has potential to move up in my eyes. That may be due to him never working a program with Triple H like Booker, RVD, Jericho, etc have, but I digress. While I honestly don't think he'll ever get a reign, if WWE wanted to, he could definitely hold his own as a main eventer. But he would definitely have to intensify his persona by taking the same energy he has now but *acting* like a main eventer instead of just a goofy midcarder. It wouldn't be that much of a change, just a slight tweak in attitude. His promo on Monday was good. And yeah, he could definitely try changing his moveset. I've never particularily disliked any of his matches, but I've never really been impressed by them either.
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Report post Posted March 30, 2005 Bradshaw's rise to the top is useless moron Scott Keith's fault: The SK Rant for WWF Armageddon 2000. - THQ sucks. Well, No Mercy as a game is pretty kick-ass (I’m officially retracting my initial disappointment after playing the WWF title route with Bradshaw)
The Czech Republic 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 Just remember, at one time, naming a wrestler "The Rock" sounded idiotic. Yeah but he had the personality to pull it off, and everyone made the connection that he was Rocky Maivia. Christian is just...I don't know. There are millions of Christians in the world. Unless Vince markets WWE strictly to the Middle East, nobody is going to view a guy just named "Christian" as an uber-heel
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 I want Christian to win the ladder match. First match of Mania. Batista wins the titles from Hunter, then Christian comes out right after the match and gets his title shot. Wins it with help from Edge (just because) and Tomko. Holds it for a month while Batista just kills everyone in site and loses it back at Backlash.
death_by_burrito 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 A few months back when Christian mentioned in a promo on Raw that he wanted the Heavyweight title, I marked like crazy. I can't remember which Raw it was, but I remember thinking "That's the first time I ever heard Christian say he wanted the World Title". As far as being a main eventer, I think he could in a few months time if he moved to Smackdown. On Raw it would be a little harder with Edge, Jericho, Kane, Benoit, HHH, Batista, and you could possibly say Shelton Benjamin and Randy Orton too. Smackdown I think would be easier for him to be a top heel because if Cena wins the title at WM, then the top contenders would be JBL, Angle, and CCC. Granted, he does lack moveset wise, but so does JBL and he's done a pretty good job at the top of Smackdown. All in all, I guess it would just depend on which show he would be on and how his character gets over.

Unless Vince markets WWE strictly to the Middle East, nobody is going to view a guy just named "Christian" as an uber-heel This could be why they have started to call him Captain Charisma, or rather he is calling himself that more than Christian. The guy has the mic ability and he has enough personality to make a good heel but he has to start winning big matches now. It seems like Christian's RAW plans work like this every week Wrestler A makes fun of Christian, Christian gets insulted, they wrestle, Tyson interferes and Christian still loses by pin or DQ. The only way they can make Christian believable is he starts winning when someone mocks him and he actually wins the higher profile matches he is in. Like for example, some wins over Jericho, Benoit and Michaels would go a long way and he's better at the heel role than Orton and Edge are right now by leaps and bounds. But right now, he is job heel.

With "Christian" it just doesn't work. Maybe he could take up the name Christian Cage like he had in the indys before joining WWE. That would be better. I agree, but don't think even Christian Cage is a good enough champion's name. If Christian is gonna change his name at all (and he oughta, if he's gonna transition to main event), might as well change his whole name to something different and more marketable. If WWE ever plans to make Christian a maineventer, they'll change his name. Otherwise, I doubt he'd ever escape the association with his tag past. Same reason we had WWE champion John Bradshaw Layfield as opposed to WWE Champion Bradshaw.
natey2k4 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2005 Same reason we had WWE champion John Bradshaw Layfield as opposed to WWE Champion Bradshaw. I disagree with that.. while Bradshaw had to go a complete gimmick change and Bradshaw by itself would not have suited a Million Dollar Man gimmick, they had to give him a full name or it wouldnt be marketable... Christian WONT have to go under a complete gimmick change. When you go to live shows, the fans EAT him up.. with boos. They literally hate the guy.. at our house show we had here, Besides me screaming and yelling my ass off for Christian, EVERYONE hated him.. he got more boos than Triple H.. (that's probably because Triple H got alot of cheers too). Too me Christian's character is perfect, he's the perfect heel, gets angry easy, hates wrestling the big faces, and cheats to win. He also is very funny when he needs to be.. And I think people can agree, this guy ALWAYS steals the segment/promo. With the best Entrance on RAW and being a pretty decent wrestler.... this guy has everything, except a few major profile wins.
