I'd wager it'll make more money than the vast majority of 'real' ECW shows. Not that that's a hard task, but still.

ECW's shows rarely surpassed .25 buyrates, so it shouldn't be hard at all.

 

But having the Rock on the show would be awful. This is supposed to be ECW, people. I'm all for sacrificing authenticity for money, but come on. Why waste a Rock return on this show?

I don't think the ECW ppv will be any different from any other recent WWE ppv. In other words, yes, it will bomb. It'll tank because they don't hype their PPVs (especially the "filler" ones between the big ones) nearly enough and they don't put matches together until the last minute.

 

I really hope Shane's show goes well, though. This'll be interesting to see play out.

It'll be a disaster. Few if any ECW fans watch the product anymore and they'll probably slap a $35 price tag on it. 50k buys at best.

 

This is just a horrible idea. The crowd they're trying to get are the ones that know that it'll be a watered down suckfest.

A WWE presents:An ECW p.p.v. might bomb since all the former ECW wrestlers they have are either out with injuries, OVW trainers or are being jobbed out. Benoit, Eddy, Jericho and Rey started as ECW guys but most people remember them as WCW wrestlers, but if WWE decides to push some "ECW" guys really hard and convince RVD to make an in-ring return for the p.p.v. then it might get a good buyrate.

It's not an idea I'm 100% behind really. I think the styles of work and production will clash SOMEWHERE, as to get the true feel Paul would have to be granted free reign, a move which is always unwise, cos you know, companies tend to go out of business when it happens.

RVD might make a return, but isn't he still recovering from his injury to make an "in-ring" return?

WWE could just have RVD wrestle for the ECW p.p.v. and have him just do squash matches (or cut promos backstage) just like Kurt Angle until he recorvers completely from his injury.

Yeah, that will make a difference actually. Especially if Sandman does show. Course, they splashed out for 'Voodoo Chile' for Hogan, getting 'Enter Sandman' for one show might not be too much to ask. They wouldn't bother with his entrance otherwise, it just wouldn't work.

I am going to order it. I am just too curious to see if it will rock or will it go the Heroes of Wrestling route. Hell, it might produce a couple good matches. All I need are Doring and Roadkill.

It's my understanding that they could use the music for the live broadcast but would have to cut it out for the DVD (see: Dudleyz 'Bombshell' theme, Ric Flair's theme). Otherwise, ECW would have had the hell sued out of it for all the times it broadcast copyrighted music on its television shows.

Shane Douglas is hosting Hardcore Homecoming at the ECW Arena the night before the WWE PPV. He's supposed to be featuring all the people that won't be featured on the WWE product.

what did ecw do with its home videos then? they edited their music? (I dont know I never bought one except for those best of ones issued in 2000)

And Vince WILL NEVER do a WCW show. ECW was a side pet project to Vince. He doesnt have the hatred for ECW that he has/had for WCW.

I get the feeling they won't even trot out the titles on the show. Danny Doring and Roadkill were the last ECW Tag Team Champions if I remember correctly, and there's no news about them appearing on either WWE's or Shane Douglas' show.

Moral: WWE writers/announcers know nothing about ECW.

 

They'll watch the WCW Junkyard Invitational from Bash at the Beach to get some "tips" on the ECW PPV.

I doubt that they will acknowledge that Rhyno was the last ECW Champion, but who really wants to remember that period anyway.

 

Hopefully they will find some old beatdown ring for the show as well, if they are going for an authentic ECW feel a high end WWE ring with the round turnbuckles and sparkling canvas isn't exactly the best way to go.
