Open the Muggy Gate Posted May 4, 2005 Author Report Posted May 4, 2005 Oh, one of those. I thought this board was filled with athiests....
CBright7831 Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 Call me a pussy all you want but I hate thinking about the end of the world. I do. I don't know why. Just imagine a tital wave coming right for you and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Or imagine the sun going off and everyone dies slowly as they freeze to death. Or imagine the wolrd getting to close to the sun and burning and the ground caves in and the world just explodes like in Superman. I somewhat fear the year 2012 now for some reason and I don't fear much. I just hope I'm dead and gone by the time the world ends and that's if it ever does. I guess I can thank movies like Deep Impact and The Day After Tommorrow (both which I have never seen and never will see) for my fears.
The Czech Republic Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 Oh, one of those. The C Man's claim to fame will forever be divulging that he had a gay encounter with a friend, and somebody replied that "his friend must like C Men."
The Metal Maniac Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 Or imagine the sun going off and everyone dies slowly as they freeze to death. For the record, when the sun eventually does run out of fuel and explodes, it'll actually increase in size for a while first, probably enough to reach Mars' orbit. So we don't have to worry about freezing to death.

Art Sandusky Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 Okay, keep the fake world-ending stories in here. Don't talk about the real science stuff. That shit's scarier than any prophecy.
The C Man Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 The C Man's claim to fame will forever be divulging that he had a gay encounter with a friend, and somebody replied that "his friend must like C Men." Damn, I thought everyone had forgotten about that.

PLAGIARISM! Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 I'm scared of death. As long as I'm wasted when it happens, I don't mind.

Damn, I thought everyone had forgetten about that. With a perfect follow-up like that one, you're infamous for life.
Highland Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 I hope the end of the world is like Safer Sephiroth's "Supernova" spell. Also, I hope "One Winged Angel" plays. That would make it all worthwhile.
Guest Brian Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 It seemed like almost everyone I knew was finding some different form of "prophecy" for 9-11 after it happened "Ye and the twin pillars collapsed..." "The two brothers shall fall..." "Two rocks will crumble..." "I just made up this prophecy this morning, but..." f you're prophecies are vague enough, they'll probably be filled at some point. Hell, the two brothers could be the Kennedys.
The Metal Maniac Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 I just hope it will be quick and painless for the beings of earth when this happens. I suppose it depends on how quickly the sun will increases in size. I can't imagine it'd be too fast, so people may have to watch the sun grow bigger and bigger, as the earth grows hotter and hotter, while all the water boils away and there is no way the planet can sustain life anymore. But, I mean, at least everyone will be dead before the sun actually touches the earth. Oh, and people should check out this website to see some end-of-the-world scenarios. It's written kinda tongue-in-cheek, doesn't take itself very seriously; but it is freaky.

Open the Muggy Gate Posted May 4, 2005 Author Report Posted May 4, 2005 Whoops. Sorry bout the double post.

Your Paragon of Virtue Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 For those of you so worried about death, do you think that this life is it? Because from what I've noticed most people that do not, don't fear death at all because they know something about the afterlife that I don't apparently.

It's easy to prophecize events that have already happened
ragingfear79 Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Ok here we go, just because the mayan calendar ends on 2012 doesnt necessarilly mean that thats the end of the world for them, their calendars went in cycles, meaning that when one calendars cycle is over a new one begins (or something along those lines). Also i head read something in here about bible codes. Please that is the bigges load of bull i have ever seen, you could do the same thing with Moby Dick, my anthropology professor actually took the book and found cryptic passages about the end of the world in it. If we go we go, but i think that noone for certian can predict or determine our future, I refuse to believe that our destiny has been preset or that is part of some sort of master plan, we thread our own fate and determine our own lives through the decisions that we make.... (sorry for the long post but i had to get it out of my system)

You got to realize at some point that you're lucky to live.
Jingus Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 I don't know if there is an afterlife, and the thought of dying scares the shit out of me, but I face it with a grim, reluctant, stoic resolve because I know that my death is inevitable. That's all I got.

I guess I can thank movies like Deep Impact and The Day After Tommorrow (both which I have never seen and never will see) for my fears. If the sun were to go out, I'd kill myself. I imagine a lot of people would. You think I'm going to sit around and either starve, or freeze, to death? No thanks. For that matter, if any huge natural disaster was going to wipe out the world, or my part of it, such as a tital wave - I'd kill myself. If given enough time, that is. I don't understand why anyone wouldn't, unless they're of the belief that suicide will land them in hell, or something such as that. I'll take "Quick and Painless" for $100, Alex.
Nighthawk Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 When I'm an old man, or if I get a life threatening disease, I'm doing heroin. Shit sounds awesome.
Jingus Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Oh god yeah. If I were stricken with a disease for which there no cure, and was an old old man on top of that, please do fill my body up with as many drugs as possible.
Vyce Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 For those of you so worried about death, do you think that this life is it? Because from what I've noticed most people that do not, don't fear death at all because they know something about the afterlife that I don't apparently. I believe in an afterlife but I have a somewhat healthy fear of death. I'm not paralyzed by the thought of it, but frankly I'd rather go out as an old man rather than sooner. But if you're gonna get wasted by some sort of natural disaster like in Deep Impact or Armageddon or what have you, or if I were to come down with a terminal disease, what are you gonna do? I wouldn't kill myself. I'd try and take steps to live, if there was some way to survive or escape my plight. Failing that, I'd just rob and loot everything I could get my hands on. And probably just fuck anything that moves.
Art Sandusky Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 I'm paralyzed by the thought of it. Really. I hate when it happens while I'm in public.
The Metal Maniac Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 But if you're gonna get wasted by some sort of natural disaster like in Deep Impact or Armageddon or what have you, or if I were to come down with a terminal disease, what are you gonna do? I've already decided that if I ever see the flash of an atomic explosion, and am alive long enough to realize what's going on, I'm headed straight for it. Fuck that duck and cover shit. I don't wanna live in a post-apocolyptic wasteland. If the world ends, I'm going with it.
