Damaramu Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 Ok the other one is about what you got right. This is what you got wrong. What did you predict that you got totally wrong? Like I said in the other one Kurt Warner gave me the idea. I predicted he'd be the comeback kid this last year and have another great season and lead the Giants to stardom. I was wrong on that one......I make the same prediction for Kurt in Zona!
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 What's horribly sad is that I agree with you. He'll probably do very well surrounded by 'quan Boldin, Bryant Johnson, and Larry Fitz, not to mention the running back they picked up in the draft.
Carnival Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I said Ryan Leaf would be better than Peyton Manning.
Guest Vitamin X Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I didn't think Leaf was better than Manning, however I thought he would be almost as good. I never thought Manning would end up being THAT good, though. Manning was in a better situation, though. Only recently have the San Diego Chargers unfucked themselves. Of course, my contention that the Shaq trade was grossly in LA's favor (and this was a sentiment echoed by damn near everyone on this board as well- if I could find the thread we were ALL wrong) is probably the worst one.
Jorge Gorgeous Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I said Portland and Utah would and Phoenix and Dallas would NOT make the playoffs this year.
nogoodnick Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I said the Sonics would be out of playoff contention by the All Star break.
alfdogg Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 How many people said that the Wolves would go to the Finals this year?
nogoodnick Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I found my NBA Western Conference preseason predictions: 1. SA- Add Brent Barry to already solid group 2. Minnesota- One year and a playoff run under their belts 3. Houston- Yao+T Mac= finish anywhere from 1-5 4. Sacramento- Only got older in offseason, If Webber stops sucking maybe better than 4 5. Denver- Possibly adding Martin to a solid cast and the improvement of Melo 6. Lakers- Assuming they keep Kobe and not Malone 7. Memphis- Should just keep getting better as a team 8. Phoenix- Adding Q and Nash to Marion and Amare should at least get them # 8 seed 9. Portland- Same team as last year but now theyll play together without past distractions 10. Utah- Added a couple of great pieces but will it be enough? 11. Dallas- Lost veteran pg, no D 12. New Orleans- Move out west probably not gonna help 13. Seattle- Didn't improve at all IMO, lost Barry 14. Clippers- Unless they get Kobe its the cellar again 15. Golden State- Ewww Well who wouldve knew Seattle would do well? I was way off with LAL, Dallas, and Minnesota.
Guest Vitamin X Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 Yeah Seattle was certainly a surprise. And while it was no secret the Lakers weren't going to be as dominant as they once were, their midseason plummet and finishing with their worst record in decades was a tad shocking.
Alro Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I said Roger Federer was going to run over everybody in the Aussie Open.
the max Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I don't know if it counts, but I had Nomar pegged for finishing his career in Boston, having led the Red Sox to a few titles. Then again, I also thought that the Red Sox rotation was set after the division title win in 1995 (Erik Hanson, Fat Hick, Aaron Sele, etc.)
CanadianChris Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I thought Alexander Daigle would be the next Mario Lemieux.
Crimson Platypus Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I said Ryan Leaf would be better than Peyton Manning. I too am guilty of this one. In fact I argued with anyone who would disagree with me on that.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 Last year I thought someone was going to figure the Patriots out. That will happen this year.
the pinjockey Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I thought Cade McNown was going to be the best QB in the Class of '99.
Crimson Platypus Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 Oh, I STILL (who knows why) think that Kyle Boller and Patrick Ramsey will some day be good-great NFL QBs.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I predicted the Giants to go to the 2003 NFC Championship game after a 10-6 playoff appearance in 2002, and instead they finished 4-12. I predicted that the 2004 ALCS wouldn't leave Boston, and predicted the Yanks to end the Series in every game from 4-7, though admittidly I didn't like going into Game 7 with Brown. Then I angrily predicted St. Louis (After predicting Houston to win the NLCS) to win the World Series, knowing full well they wouldn't anyway. I thought the Yankees 2002 team in spring training was the best team they had fielded of the dynstasy up to that point. I thought they would roll Anahiem in the ALDS as well.
CanadianGuitarist Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I thought Alexander Daigle would be the next Mario Lemieux. I did too. And I thought he'd be revitalized in Pittsburgh and Minnesota.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I thought Griffey was going to get the Reds far into the playoffs in 2000. I also got suckered into thinking he was going to be healthy in 2001 and 2002.
MillenniumMan831 Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 In February, I thought the Cavs would make the playoffs.
CanadianGuitarist Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I predicted Phil Mickelson to win every major between 2001 and 2004. I seriously predicted him to win at least four of them, the rest of them was my being a fan boy.
Just John Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 After their good 03 season, I said the Royals would make the playoffs in 04. I thought the Magic and Cavs would both be in the playoffs this year.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 I thought the Saints would make the playoffs last season. Stupid Rams and Stupid Jets.
Just John Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 Oh, I also said the Pistons had no chance against the Lakers last year.
Brett Favre Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 How many people said that the Wolves would go to the Finals this year? This guy.
Guest Vitamin X Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 Same here. Worst off, I thought there wouldn't be damn near anyone that would be able to play as well as they did.
2GOLD Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 That no one would be stupid enough to draft Maurice Clarett. I forgot about that coach in Denver who still believes in Jake "The Snake" Plummer.
NoCalMike Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 After a botch field goal attempt on two plays in a row in the 1999 Divisional playoffs, I surely thought the Redskins would come back in 2000 and at least get to the NFC Championship, I bought into Snyder's FA signing spree......
Vern Gagne Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 I thought the the Gopher football team would be a legit Big 10 contender last season. I picked the Wolves to make the Western Conference Finals, losing to SA. But after about 2 weeks. I said they'd just make the playoffs, and than by January said they wouldn't make the playoffs period.
