Insane Bump Machine 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2005 The game I want so see most is Legend of Zelda, of course. Other than that I hope Konami shows PES5, but I don't think they will. The PS2 will dominate yet again, but I think that XBOX360 will make quite a splash. The big 'surprise' will probably be Diablo 3, which I don't care for AT ALL. I'd love it if a new Perfect Dark would be revealed now that RARE is done with Conker. Duke Nukem Forever will still be on some rlelease lists.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2005 You bastard! You stole what I was planning on doing when I got home! ... What game(s) are you looking forward to the most? # RPG Maker 3 (PS2) # Wild ARMs: Alter Code F (PS2) * Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (PS2) * Tales of Legendia (PS2) What system will dominate? Sony will probably come up first, Nintendo second, and MS third. What surprises could there be? PS3 has a working game and will be released in time for the holiday season. In what form will the new consoles be shown? ~Xbox 360 live demo performance ~Nintendo's Revolution controller is shown and while we all thought it would suck, it doesn't. But isn't as Godly as you'd think. ~ PS3 full out game on display, just cause Sony wants to up the ante. Will Duke Nukem Forever be shown? No.

In response to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata's recent comments on the company's upcoming networking plans (Wada's comments seem to have been made prior to Nintendo's official announcement regarding its DS WiFi service), Wada offers up praise for the ideas featured in the plan, and even suggests that Nintendo could bring new users to the Online gaming world. One area that Wada seems to be impressed with is a particularly controversial side of Nintendo's Online plan. In his comments posted at Impress Game Watch yesterday, Iwata states that Nintendo is going through with the idea of letting players connect only to players whom they've met in real life. While it's unclear how strict Nintendo plans to be with this idea (Animal Crossing DS is reported to allow for play amongst strangers), Wada applauds the move in his comments today, stating "It gives the image of taking the real world seamlessly into the virtual world." This new structure could lead to a number of changes in the current network gaming system, with Wada suggesting "the means of building a community will be completely different, and support and services will also change." The stance Square Enix takes on the new networking plan in relation to Revolution is the most intriguing. "What increased our interest further," states Wada regarding the networking plan, "is that the next step is already being prepared for Revolution." Nintendo's networking plan is, according to Wada, "not just a portable, not just a console -- it's exactly what we wanted in that it's the birth of a completely new platform." Wada finishes off on the note of support from Square Enix: "From here on, we'll have to challenge ourselves with content in response to what Nintendo offers. We would like to give strong support." With these comments, Wada seems to be committing Square Enix to support of Nintendo's new networking plan, and this will almost certainly take early form on the DS. The mention of Revolution's role in the company's decision process suggests that future support for the console is a possibility as well. Revolution at E3 2005 The rumor that Nintendo will not reveal the successor to the GameCube, codenamed Revolution, at E3 2005 has been circulating for some time now, putting the gaming public in a tizzy over the looming disappointment. Here's the real deal: Nintendo sources have confirmed Revolution's presence at the show. The company may decide to reveal the system's official name, technical specs and even the system itself. The controller, however, will probably not be shown. It may not be the system "launch pad" gamers hoped for, but to count the Revolution as a no-show is inaccurate. Taking into account Nintendo's E3 lineup and other information, the company will focus on the handheld market this year. Specifically, Nintendo will focus on its new online service for the Nintendo DS and perhaps deliver first details on the new Game Boy Advance. Not the genuine successor to the GBA, but an improved version of the current model boasting new features such as built-in wireless networking. It may also include the Play-Yan adapter, enabling gamers to download games, audio and videos. And of course, Nintendo will spill a ton of information on its new, free online service, since it's actually set to debut later this year. On the console front, Nintendo will provide a playable version of The Legend of Zelda for GameCube, along with playable versions of Fire Emblem, Advance Wars and Geist. Gamers can also expect to see the new Mario Baseball title. As for the Nintendo Revolution, expect certain details plus a video presentation showing a number of next-gen games. What makes the system unique may be revealed to some degree, but considering the supposed mid-2006 ship date, it plain doesn't make sense for Nintendo to reveal all, or even most, of its secrets. Of course, it just wouldn't be E3 without a few surprises.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2005 The ONLY thing to look forward to on the Gamecube is Zelda. Thats sad....but at the some time awesome. Well, all three of the main systems don't really have a hell of a lot more in the works. Nintendo/Sony/MS are basically just gearing up for the next gen. Zelda though...sweetness. Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2005 Urban Reign has me seriously interested. It's like Streets of Rage had sex with Tekken and spawned offspring. I'm hoping it lives up to its hype and blows me away. Other than that, this year has me seriously psyched for FFXII, the PS3 and Nintendo's speech on the Revolution. I WANT MARIO 128! Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2005 These are the games I look forward to: Vivendi Lineup: * StarCraft: Ghost Namco Lineup: * SOULCALIBUR III (PS2) EA Lineup: * Battlefield 2 (PC) * Burnout Legends (PSP) * Burnout Revenge (PS2, Xbox) Square-Enix Lineup: * Final Fantasy XII (PS2) * Kingdom Hearts II (PS2) And that's what it's all about, ladies and gents, out of that list, anyway. I'm also interested in the next Unreal Tournament, provided it gets here reasonably quick. This gaming PC is my last. Final Fantasy games are NOT the kind of thing I get excited for, but 12 is looking at breaking the mold and actually SUCCEEDING at it. And give me Kingdom Hearts II over Zelda any day thanks. Matt Young 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2005 Oh man. A guy I know who is going to E3 informed me that his friend is unable to attend, so he can give me that friend's badge to get in. It's exhibits only, which means I won't have full access, but I'll get to see the meat of the show. He wants me to go all 3 days and, as a favor to him... photograph booth babes. Sounds great to me. He says that I'll also need to bring a bag for the sit ton of free stuff that is given out at the show. Assuming nothing goes wrong, this should be fucking awesome. *prays*

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2005 OOOOH!!! Nintendo Revolution Details from Endgaget: We already knew it would be packing some backward compatibility and WiFi functionality, but a couple of new bits of information have now come out about the Nintendo Revolution. The unit is apparently going to be quite small, about the “thickness of three standard DVD cases and only slightly longer” — not sure if that means regular jewel cases as with CDs, or the bigger plastic cases DVDs often get cased in. The unit will be playable either horizontally or vertically, making for a more flexible gaming setup. As noted with the backward compatibility, 3-inch GameCube disks will play in the same self-loading media drive as the Revolution’s double-layered DVD discs. Hardware partners IBM and ATI are packing a lot of graphics power into a small space, giving the device quick game startup times and quiet, low-power operations. And, of course, we’re still looking forward to all of this compactness to be showing up in 2006.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2005 Artist Rendition of the Revolution Few things I like: 1 - Grip buttons - squeeze the controller grips to depress buttons in them 2 - Open button to allow the disc slot to expand/contract to accept GC/NR games 3 - 2 Gamecube controller ports to go along with 4 NR wireless ports I dont like the controller though for the most part...and I know none of this is official and all, but the design of the console itself is nice and simplistic. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2005 Translation: Yet another non-standard sized DVD format? Well, it plays DVDs, so don't think so. Oh, and we have a subtitle for the new Zelda game: http://home.comcast.net/%7Elazie4351/NintendoE3.jpg Just incase the pic doesn't work: Here's a partial list of Nintendo's 2006 lineup Gamecube ------------ Batallion Wars Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix Donkey Konga 2 Mario Party 7 Pokemon XD (a full fledged Pokemon RPG) Super Mario Strikers (a soccer title) The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Nintendo DS -------------- Advance Wars Animal Crossing Mario and Luigi 2 Mario Kart DS Metroid Dread (a 2D Metroid Adventure) Metroid Prime Pinball Nintendo Tetris Touch Golf Game Boy Advance ----------------------- Donkey Kong Country 3 Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones Mario Tennis Advance Not sure about that "2006" thing, since Donkey Konga 2 is coming out a lot sooner, and the new Zelda should be this year. Metroid Dread? Well, hopefully it blows away Fusion and Zero Mission.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted May 14, 2005 Wow, if that's how Revolution is going to look like, I'd be quite happy. And if it plays DVDs as well? I'm sold. Now I'm REALLY curious as to what Sony has in store for its competitors. If I were Microsoft, I'd spend some time upgrading the hardware and making sure it stays top-of-the-line, but they're working on marketing their strength in online play. Looks like Nintendo might sneak up on them for that, though. I was going to post this yesterday also, not sure if you guys know about this, but it could be tremendous help for Microsoft: Legendary Sakaguchi Now a Developer for the Next-Generation Xbox Platform! Father of the “Final Fantasy” Series and AIAS Hall of Fame Inductee will develop Xbox roleplaying games! February 24, 2005—Microsoft Corporation today announced that Hironobu Sakaguchi, videogame legend and president of Mistwalker game studio, has joined with Microsoft® Game Studios to develop roleplaying games (RPG) exclusively for the next-generation Xbox® video game system. Sakaguchi is best known as the creator of the Final Fantasy franchise, which has sold more than 60-million units worldwide. He was the executive vice president in charge of game development at Square Enix Co., Ltd., until February 2001. Citing a shared vision with Microsoft for the next generation of video games, Sakaguchi will lead the creation of two upcoming Xbox-exclusive RPGs to be published by Microsoft Game Studios. “Sakaguchi-san has taken roleplaying games—traditionally a niche market—and introduced them to a broad and diverse audience across the globe,” said Peter Moore, corporate vice president of Worldwide Marketing and Publishing at Microsoft. “We are ecstatic to work with Sakaguchi-san and celebrate what this news means, not only for Xbox, but for gamers worldwide.” “I’m excited about the two epic game titles we will be developing,” Sakaguchi said. “A number of talented creators have signed on to help develop these games, and I’m confident we will be able to create games that provide gamers with a new kind of thrill. “Microsoft’s cutting-edge technologies in the next-generation platform will allow me to bring to life an array of ideas that I have had for many years,” Sakaguchi said. “I want these games to be alive with a new vision for gaming and vividly depict new characters that will transcend the game, find a place in the hearts of gamers, and make time spent with my games a fond and long-lasting memory.” Sakaguchi started his career at Square Co. Ltd. in 1986 as director of planning and development. He was promoted to executive vice president in 1991 and eventually ascended to president of Square LA Inc. (now Square USA Inc.) in 1995. In 2000, Sakaguchi was inducted into the coveted Academy of Interactive Arts & Science (AIAS) Hall of Fame for his groundbreaking work on the Final Fantasy series. In 2004, Sakaguchi announced that he had started his own development studio, called Mistwalker. Xbox is coming off a blockbuster year as the only video game system to show year-to-year growth in 2004, while competitors declined.* Driven by epic, platform-exclusive content—including Halo® 2 by Microsoft Game Studios, Fable™ by Microsoft Game Studios, Ninja Gaiden® by Tecmo Ltd., and Xbox Live™, the only unified online video game console service—gamers worldwide continue to flock to Xbox for an unparalleled digital entertainment experience. * Source: The NPD Group/NPD Funworld, January 2005
