spman 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2005 Which Wal-Marts in CT?
res37618 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2005 Yeah, I just don't get it - our Wal-Marts (we've got 5 in a 40 mile radius) always carried the WWE DVD's, without fail for the last year +. Starting with WrestleMania 21, the price tag is up below the shelf on the DVD display, but there are no DVD's at ANY of the 5 stores. And the same thing has happened with Backlash '05. Price tag, and they've even got Cena's CD in a sub-shelf thingie below where the Backlash DVD's are supposed to be, but no DVD's at any of the stores. It's just kinda strange, and when you ask someone in electronics if they know anything about it, they're pretty much clueless. I can't imagine someone is coming through and buying every one of them, but why bother putting up the price tag and leaving an empty space for a DVD you're not carrying. Rather odd. MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2005 I bit the bullet and ordered it from WWEShop since it came w/ a shirt of the cover of the dvd. Also picked up the ECW shirt for a grand total of $35 shipped.
tpww7 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2005 Shelton and Derby have it. I havent watched it though yet.

MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2005 I'd wear a Judas Priest shirt, so I'd certainly wear an ECW shirt. I really don't care.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2005 How much is it at WalMart?
Guest TroughOfMantaur Report post Posted June 5, 2005 $22.88 at our Wal-Mart. The retospectives on each guy are great, and everyone participates, except for Dusty. However, the matches rumored to be included that had been on previous sets, and Savage vs Steamboat, are not included. Trust me though, the retrospectives are worth $40 alone, much less $22.88. River City Rocker 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2005 I just picked up a copy from the Wal-Mart on the east side of Evansville, IN (where I also work). I can also confirm that the Savage/Steamboat match is not included, unless it's an easter egg, and I seriously don't think they'd hide such a high profile match. Haven't watched a thing from it yet. But seriously, guys, start hitting those Wal-Marts if you want it bad enough. -Ben
spman 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2005 I picked it up too at another Wal-Mart in CT, and I am dissapointed that Savage vs Steamboat isn't included, even if I do have a copy on VHS. I wonder if the rumors about Savage being blacklisted forever might be true, becasue surely he was as big a star in the 80's as Bob Orton or JYD. edit: To add, here's whats missing from the Highspots match listing JYD vs Savage Patterson vs Slaughter The WM 1 Main Event Snuka vs Muraco Iron Shiek vs Bob Orton and Savage vs Steamboat Unless of course these matches are all hidden easter eggs which is doubtful As for the extras: Disc 1 JYD Preforming "Grab them Cakes" at the 1986 Slammy Awards Seargent Slaughter tells a story about Verne Gagnes training camp Slaughter tells a story about meeting Ronald Reagan Pipers Pit w/ The Haiti Kid Greg Valentine gets a back rub on Tuesday Night Titans Bobby Heenan Show with Guest Jameson Disc 2 Dusty Rhodes Promo- World Wide Wrestling 5/7/85 Jerry Lalwer interview after winning AWA Title 5/15/88 Ricky Steamboat gets his name Arn Anderson Interview 1/21/86 Four Horsemen Interview 6/21/86 Jerry Lawlers worst injury in wrestling Disc 3 Iron Shiek Swings the Persian Clubs - All Star Wrestling 12/7/83 Posedown: Paul Orndorf vs Tony Atlas TNT 11/27/84 Bob Orton goes to the Doctor TNT 5/10/85 Jimmy Snuka - TNT 6/26/84 Hogan promo on Hercules 11/29/

spman 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2005 This thing even has the full first Lawler vs Kaufman match during the main feature. I'm impressed. Another odd note, nearly all referneces to WWF both visual and spoken are edited, but Finkel says "World Wrestling Federation" unedited during the ring entraces on Backlund vs Shiek. WWF. however doesnt. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's so sad, isn't it? I'm sure there are tons of wrestling fans who will get confused when the initials WWF are used on a wrestling broadcast, though, considering you really can't tell them apart The whole settlement is such a bunch of crap on both sides of the fence, I really wish Vince could find a way to settle this so we don't have to have a blur-fest on every DVD release with Attitude matches on it . . . res37618 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2005 Well, after visiting our a local Wal-Mart in Bristol, TN, I can tell you that they had the Greatest Wrestling Stars of the 80's DVD set. I'm watching it as we speak, and it's been a pretty solid DVD set so far.

Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted June 8, 2005 FYE.com has it for $14.99. If place an order by tonight, you can get an extra 15% off your total purchase (promotion code is BESTFRIENDDAY2005). Even if you add in shipping costs, I think this is a pretty good deal.

Guest DVD Spree Report post Posted June 8, 2005 Would someone who's bought the set already be kind enough to give us the full match listing? I've got to import this one, so I need to figure out if it's worth the hassle. Also, roughly how long is the main programme/retrospective and is it any good? Cheers all. Guest *KNK* Report post Posted June 8, 2005 I saw it @ Wal-Mart but i didnt pick it up since I had already planned on getting a couple other dvds already but i picked it up to look it over and since they only had one copy, is it supposed to be like that? the box i mean, its not designed like normal WWE dvds and had a slanted side to it. I wasn't sure if the box was dented or thats how it was designed.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2005 Disc One - Greg Valentine vs. Roddy Piper (Starrcade '83) - Sgt. I'm not sure how long the rest runs, but each profile is given a fair chunk of time dedicated towards their contributions in the '80s. According to the box, everything clocks in at a grand total of eight and a half hours.

UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2005 Wow no Savage/Steamboat on DVD? Ha. This set looks pretty shitty, except for a few matches already released on DVD or some "nostalgia" moments. Seriously, I just can't get into the boring era of Backlund, Sheik, Valentine, etc. in 2005 again.
