AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2007 Not much of a trailer, but the game sure looks nice. I thought they would do a New York style city too, and there it is. I just hope they don't sacrifice the size of the city in order to jack up the graphics. Has that ever really been a concern? The PS2 games weren't very pretty until San Andreas. Invictus 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2007 I was hoping they would show some gameplay, although of course that wasn't a very realistic expectation on my part. I fully expect this game is going to be GTA III with nicer graphics, but hopefully I will be proved wrong.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2007 It's apparently going to be in Liberty City, at the very least.
World's Worst Man 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2007 Not much of a trailer, but the game sure looks nice. I thought they would do a New York style city too, and there it is. I just hope they don't sacrifice the size of the city in order to jack up the graphics. Has that ever really been a concern? The PS2 games weren't very pretty until San Andreas. Given that HD is all the rage these days, I was somewhat concerned that they would succumb to the hype and sacrifice the size and scope of the game in exchange for prettier graphics. I'd be disappointed if the game was smaller than San Andreas, considering the amount of content is probably the biggest draw to the game.

DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2007 http://www.moviehole.net/news/20070328_mor...series_reb.html Just like the long-gestating “X-Files” sequel, the third “Mortal Kombat” movie has been swimming in the Development Hell Channel for quite a few years now. Apparently, and again like the former, it’s delay can mainly be attributed to legal issues. Insider ‘Rayden’ gave us a quick run-down on what the deal is with it- whilst confirming that the film won’t actually be a prequel or a sequel but more of a restart. “The movie is not going to be a prequel, sequel, or in any form be related to the previous 2 movie. Pretty much like Batman Begins, is going to restart the series with new concepts, stories, etc. “Threshold had to wait till around early 2000 for the contract with New Line Cinema to end (Threshold blames New Line for the disappointing Annihilation, talking about forced release dates, limited budget, no understanding of anything, etc.) “The reason it is taking so long is the script, so many parts are involved. The team at Threshold (the ones that holds the right to MK) are constantly writing drafts (along with the director), which they have to send to Midway (makers of the game) so the creator of the game (Ed Boon) adds notes and some input to the draft, then to the studio (rumored to be Lionsgate at this moment).” The director of the film, Mink, has also been fielding fans questions on the IMDB Boards, we’re told. In short, here’s some of the director’s comments on the movie : - “It is a new telling of the MK universe drawing from the whole universe. As I have said think of it like Batman Begins”. - “Threshold(Larry Kassanoff) has a staff of writer's working on the script. The script drafts interacts with all parties involved being addressed with extensive sets of notes. The script is then revised according to these notes and then pushed through the approval process again. This is how the project proceeds. In regards to finishing most scripts it takes along time. Yes certain projects get fast tracked or fast followed into production and they bang the script out as fast as the writer can type and fix the script as they go but this money driven. As most projects finalize the script first in order to trigger all the financing into effect. Which then triggers casting etc... Today most financiers have alot to say about the scripts as it is their money on the line. So usually when you see a movie that has 11 or 12 producers on the slate each one of them has had a say at the table about the script equal to their involvement financially. As I have said in past on this project Threshold, Midway and the studio all have one or two producers each making comments on the script. So that is where we are at the moment. All of us working on the script with the staff of writers”. - “Casting adjourned for the moment before we got that far. As I have said in other posts we went back to the script after the initial movement on the project and have been rewriting(per the partied involved Threshold, Studio, Midway) since so no additional casting thoughts and or processes were even continued. As soon as the script is done we will proceed with casting again and all options in all casting areas are still on the table 100%... “ (He has confirmed that he’s met with Christopher Lambert and Robin Shou though)

Hey now, Pitof brought us "Catwoman". Yeah, I guess you're right. Although I hope "Mink" pulls this off just so we can get copycatters. I want to see movies directed by "Ferret", "Mongoose", "Otter" and "Weasel" dammit!
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 I wonder how long mink stays on the project before the project falls into Alan Smithee's hands.
Anya 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 I don't believe this movie will ever come out. This is like the 4th time it's been confirmed to be on the way. It was supposed to be just months away from being filmed before Katrina. It was just last year they were going on about a Sub-Zero movie. No one ever seems to know what's going on. Shou and Lambert have been "in talks" for YEARS. At some point they were even confirmed to be back.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 I wonder when whatever production company is in charge of this thing decides to cut their losses and hand the project to Boll. At least it'll get made. Hell, Alone in the Dark got made when the new game that was supposed to be released beside it ended up in a developmental hell it still hasn't escaped from. Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 So we got MONTHS till we get GTA IV, and I don't even have a next-gen system yet... and I'm still fucking stoked. This definitely looks like Liberty City to me (funny looking at all the idiot rubes on the Gamefaqs denying it and coming up with their own ideas). Perfect timing for me since I'm on a GTA kick. Just got done playing Vice City Stories that just came out for the PS2 weeks ago and I'm on Vice City right now, which is currently my favorite game ever right now. KingPK 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2007 I know this has been discussed before, but I've been watching some old TechTV/early G4TV X-Play clips on YouTube and I can see why a lot of people say that the show has taken a big hit in quality over the last year and a half. Adam and Morgan (especially Morgan), just seemed a lot more loose and fun back then. Now, it almost seems like that have a bit of contempt for their audience and focus more on dumb skits to go with their reviews instead of funny reviews with charmingly dumb skits. BUTT 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2007 Well, that clip should end the speculation of the game coming to Wii. I guess. I mean it's obviously all CG. But still, you know.
Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2007 Was that Sora getting his ass frozen and dropped off the cliff? Couldn't really make our a lot besides a lot of fighting, some Ice spells and the three knights (dragoons, keybladers, whatever) getting their asses kicked. EricMM 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2007 Looked like Roxas to me (blonde) Honestly I don't know what to say about what that indicates about future systems. After all, the first bit came out for PS2... It's all FMV anyways. I'm sure that they could make it for Wii if they felt like it, since the last one was on the PS2, and the game itself isn't extremely complex anyways. Whether or not they WILL is another question entirely. For all we know it could follow God of War as being one of the last PS2 games. If I wanted to sell copies, I know where I'd market... EricMM 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2007 I'm sure that the PSP could display that, and, given a fat enough cartridge, so could the DS.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2007 Yes, the DS could display pre-rendered video. What of it?
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2007 So, you want to buy the PSP, only have $220 and you're a big fan of Lords of Dogtown. Well, you're in luck! The PSP Entertainment Pack, which includes the UMD skate film, a 1 GB memory stick and ATV Offroad Fury: Blazin' Trails, has received the same $30 price cut as its little brother, the $169.99 Core Pack. BUTT 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2007 Really....... I was just in a Gamestop a couple of hours ago and checking out their N64 section. I wouldn't pay $5 for WCW Backstage Assault but for $1.25 I might. MIGHT.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2007 Any good N64 stuff has been pillaged from my area. Goldeneye? F-Zero X? Hahah! Nowhere to be found. Is there actually a Gamestop in the country that has Dreamcast games worth a damn? Every one of them in my area was combed through over a year ago. Except for, you know, NFL 2K/NBA 2K. Or crap PC shovelware.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 I did get Tony Hawk 2, Virtual Tennis, Space Channel 5, Ready 2 Rumble, V Rally, Royal Rumble on Dreamcast but missed out on Dragon Warrior 7 on Playstation $1.25 for Dreamcast games ruled and $1 for the controller! mysterious_w 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 Dreamcast Tony Hawk 2 for $1.25, Personally I reckon THPS2 is the best in the series. Reverts cheapened the combo system too much, and THPS1 was a bit too basic. The second game got in just right, and just last night on got 2.3million on the Hanger. (Yes I am bragging, Tony Hawk's is the ONLY game I am good at).

A few years ago me and Canadianguitarist split 50-50 on an N64 system and picking up some great games along the way, like Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, GoldenEye, etc...for a reasonable price. Now all you can find are NFL Quaterback Club and Breakaway Hockey.
