Silence Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 Is it just me, or does the AI tag team partner only know how to do one Standing Double Team move (the command that only involves the circle button) in Tag Team matches? I tried letting the AI tag team partner do a grapple so I could get into the ring and try to do different double team moves but I was never able to pull them off. Does anyone know a way around this?
Ted the Poster Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 I'm more annoyed by the AI randomly leaving/entering the ring and grabbing weapons when it's about to lose. Even the faces do this, which makes even less sense.

I just let him hit me three times and got three easy falls. Also, the tag team matches are annoying the hell out of me. It seems as if the CPU just wanders in whenever it wants with little/no retribution and my damn partner never wants to attack the other person when I summon him in. He just stands there like an idiot and watches me have my submission/pinning move broken up.

I just play matches with my buddy, much more fun. I had my best SD vs. RAW moment ever yesterday. Me as Ric Flair against Triple H (my friend), the last two in the Rumble. I was totally red, he was totally normal. Everytime he hit me with the Pedigree it looked like I would get eliminated but every damn time I countered and it drove my friend nuts. I managed to make his face red but then the end seemed near again when he hit me with one last Pedigree. It looked like I was watching a real WWE match, such drama HHH tried to whip Flair but Flair countered it. Flair grabbed HHH, threw him out with everything he got and he won the Rumble. From nothing I won the match, classic. My friend went ballistic. Good times

It's weird how a wrestling game that's so much better than the disappointing SVR can have the most flaws out of all the Smackdown series video games.
King Cucaracha Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 I got the PSP version yesterday and I'm glad I didn't get it simply for Jake. Besides maybe his entrance music and the fact it actually is Jake, you don't really get anything. He, as far as I could tell, doesn't have a special DDT animation or anything. Anyone thinking of buying it just to get Jake, don't bother. Rent it, buy him, be done with it. On the other hand, the Texas Hold 'Em mini-game is a nice addition. They've even added in the non-playable characters (Tazz, JR, Cole, Tazz, Long, Bischoff, Coach) for just that mode.

OJ kept hitting me with a chair and I got lots of easy falls.

Steve Austin became the GM and wants me to find the Smackdown "mole" on the RAW roster, so he put me in a submission match with Chris Benoit. It went 35 minutes and I bloodied his face with like 4 superkicks, and I got out of 3 Crossface's. I finally won it with a sleeper hold. Best match I've had on the game so far.

I guess it's to be expected somewhat (every PSP game I have seems to have ridiculous loading times), but hopefully they'll find a way around it next time.

I've been able to create a decent Samoa Joe- I just tweaked a bit using the guidelines from that link. "Sick" Nick Mondo's spot on, Kobashi turned out great, and Liger turned out alright but I ran out of layering options. It felt like I was wasting time at first but it's created a refreshing approach to the game- kept it from getting stale.

I fight, as Hogan, against HHH and Benoit. Both times my meter is full, their's is empty, and yet they still reverse eveything and beat the shit out of me. I hope they get rid of this next year.

During Torrie's Contract, side with Cena in both instances, then go through Urning Your Spot as usual (I chose to go against Eddie to be on the safe side and I beat Undertaker). I think generally you just can't use anyone in Torrie's Contract or the ECW storyline.

I finally get up to the submission match and the computer chose me to be Lita and my oppenent to be Carlito. It took an hour for him to beat me. I bloodied him and he would get fatigued and I would get fatigue. It was a really horrible match and I wanted to end. He finally got Lita to submit to a leglock in over an hour. The sad thing is that you get like nothing for the trophy. I wouldn't really know because my hand hurt after the match and I had two more matches left.

But I played through as Angle last night and lo and behold, I got the ECW storyline, finally. Also, the Rumble meter has been tinkered with on the PSP version. You can survive the first attempt by two people to throw you out, as instead of just going straight down, it tends to stop in the middle. Naturally, the second time you're out on your ass, depending on if you fill your meter back up. But it's good to see the problem was pointed out and changed.

The Raw season mode isn't a fun as Smackdown's because you always get your ass kicked by HHH at various points of the season and you're mostly a face, too. BTW, does anyone else find it hilarious when if you finish a quick match, someone like Michael Cole still says "What a match!" as if it actually went back and forth? Also, sometimes even after I've done a long match, Cole thinks the match ended too soon.
