But anyways, what do you think of the new approach WWE.com is taking? It's obvious starting a while ago they've sort of stepped away from the just rigged polls and shopzone advertisements, to more of..a smark wrestling site. With things such as "off the record" backstage interviews, and sort of announcing things such as Brock Lesnar's possible return, and even the plain old ruthlessness in the way they just threw the names of the fired people up, with graphics even.

 

They've been posting stuff that before we would have heard about only through like PwInsider or one of the other big wrestling sites (Like the Meanie Situation) and although it still sort of has it's "WWE flavor" it's clearly like a completely different site.

 

(I mean, they had an interview with Matt Morgan about his firing for christs sake.)

The Matt Morgan deal is the weirdest thing. I still don't know what to make of that. But yes, I do like WWE.com's new approach. It actually makes the site worth checking out.

Which can be both a gift and a curse if not used properly. The 'net has a lot of good ideas where to take things and such, but the 'net also has biases that aren't necessarily good for business. It's a matter of taking the good ideas and exploiting them, but at the same time appealing to the larger demographic, the marks. If things get too "inside", you risk alienating a larger segment of the viewing audience for a smaller one.

It's fine by me, cuz if you have net acces and youre a wrestling, you are going to have the business exposed one way or the other. Even if by accident ,a mark comes across a news site or the like and turns smark.

 

I just wish the magazines would be a bit more real.

Yes, I like the new approach. Kayfabing everything is just going to make it seem like they're trying to insult everyone's intelligence. Now if only they would do this with the magazine, like someone said.

I'll tell you one thing - I find myself checking out WWE.com once every three or four days now, whereas I visited it about once or twice a year previously. So the new approach is definitely somewhat successful in gaining new visitors. Is it making me order the PPVs? No. But I am visiting the site more to see what's being printed, that's for sure.

I like it because it makes it more credible for the 'internet rumors'. Instead of having rumors of Lesnar returning, they came out and said he was meeting with Vince. Great improvement

Until they develop a way for people to know exactly where they're taking soft pitched ideas from, it is a fucking curse. Googling for wrestling sites and booking ideas is scary what you will find within the first few pages.

I don't care. I don't consider myself some kind of elite because I read what people post from the Meltzer newsletters, and I don't need people booking towards that knowledge just to enjoy what I'm seeing.

 

I prefer set-ups that everyone can understand, but may not want to admit it. The Edge/Lita thing is stupid to people that don't sit and read dirtsheets. But remember that kick-ass promo that Benoit cut on Austin about how Austin doesn't do much wrestling? "I'm talking about real wrestling, Steve. No chef hats, no monster trucks, no middle fingers. Do you remember what that is, Steve?"

 

That was a great promo because anyone who has followed the show for a number of months knew that Austin matches had more style over substance and those who watched longer took the "do you remember that" line as a reference to the old days when Austin displayed more technical skill than he does in his PUNCHPUNCHSTUNNER period.

 

That kind of subtle acknowledgement that everyone can get on some level, that's how you work towards those in the know. What they're doing now is borderline Russo WCW.

“JBL had it coming,” claimed Stevie Richards. “It’s that simple.”

 

Nearly a month after JBL attacked The Blue Meanie at the end of ECW’s One Night Stand, Richards responded with a resounding chair shot Thursday night on SmackDown!

 

Richards, who was leading the return of the Blue World Order, then watched as his act of revenge opened up a serious and bloody gash on JBL’s head.

 

“That’s called a receipt,” Richards told WWE.com.

 

“At One Night Stand, JBL took a cheap shot and went into business for himself,” Richards said. “It was the lowest thing I’ve seen in my 14 years in the business. I was absolutely speechless and appalled at what he did that night, and I’m sure my sentiments are echoed not only throughout the locker room, but throughout wrestling’s entire fan base.

“But it doesn’t surprise me because that’s the type of bully JBL is,” Richards added. “And yes, I called him a bully, just like Meanie did years ago when he was released. But he’s a classic bully and there’s nothing I hate more than bullies, especially ones who take cheap shots.”

 

While Richards knows he can’t take away the pain his friend Blue Meanie suffered at the fists of JBL, Thursday night’s chair shot does give him some sort of closure.

 

“I busted him open like I’ve never seen anyone busted open,” Richards said. “We hurt him where it matters most. We embarrassed him on SmackDown!, his show. We showed the wrestling God he can go down any night.”

 

Still, Richards, who was part of that 11-person WWE Draft Lottery trade, will obviously watch his back as he shares a locker room with JBL every week.

 

“I’m expecting to get my ass kicked by JBL,” Richards said. “But right is right and wrong is wrong. What he did was dishonorable and had to be answered.”

 

Richards also finds it strange that WWE never so much as gave JBL a slap on the wrist for his actions. Richards is now keeping his fingers crossed that WWE doesn’t respond to his response.

 

“Knowing my luck, they’ll come down on me for that chair shot,” Richards said. “But that’s fine. In fact, since this week seems to be a big one for releases, they can go ahead and let me go. I know I did what was right.

I really don't see much of a difference between the WWE.com of today and WWE.com of 3-4 years ago. They've always noted on the website who was fired, who was hired, and the like.

But does anyone really think the wwe is going to incorporate a shoot feud into its programming or website or anything else? If its somehow true and Stevie really did stiff JBL, he'll be released too.

 

The releases are mostly deadweight so Im sure theyve really been released. But I dont think the wwe.com site will be aforum from shootfight angles anytime soon.

I'm pretty sure that they are. Personally, I like the idea of released wrestlers getting to say something on WWE.com about their situation. It'd give them a chance to say "good-bye" to the fans (even though loyal fans would follow them to other promotions).

JBL feuding with the BWO is not good, especially for business. If in with the right person, JBL is a good ME heel right now. An "insider" feud with a low/midcard mock act will do no one any good.

 

I was at the SD taping in Sacramento and about 98% of the 10,000 or so people that were there had no idea what was going on or who the BWO even were.

I don't think WWE would make this a long feud. After all, you can't really have JBL face a bWo member on PPV. It's likely just a one night or few weeks type of thing.
