OAO Raw Thread for 7/11/2005

Recommended Posts

Well, Kane vs. Edge is apparently going to happen. Hopefully it'll be the blowoff. Then there's more diva crap and the possibility of a Matt Hardy return... it can't be worse than last week's Raw, I suppose.

I was there live last week and I can tell you it shouldn't be worse, but who knows. The Raw side doesn't have a PPV until August and they may just be spinning wheels, pretty much winging it until the Summerslam build.

So there is no match list for tonight? Will they bring in Nick Hogan as the special guest for Cabana Chat and will Carlito give him some dating tips?

Whatever happened to the good ol' countout or DQ finish, specifically in referencing last week's tag match with Hogan/HBK v. Angle/Carlito? Did they really need to pin the IC champ? I know it would be dumber to have Kurt do the job, but why not go for a CO or DQ? I mean, it was a July 4 throwaway show, not a PPV, so it's not like I'm clamoring for a clean finish. I guess this is why the undercard titles don't mean shit anymore. They are no longer protected. Why even have them then?

One of the downfalls of ECW revolutionizing North American Wrestling in the mid-to-late 1990's was the dismissal of the countout/DQ victory, to make the viewer's experience of the "top, big level matches" seem more complete, when they were constantly put on the air during the ratings boom and wow was this a big run-on trainwreck of a sentence.

For those who give a shit about the previews, here's the Raw Preview.

Will HBK have an explanation?

July 11, 2005

The Fourth of July edition of RAW provided plenty of fireworks, but the fallout from the show could be even more exciting!

Hulkamaniacs everywhere were left shocked and appalled at the end of RAW Monday night as Shawn Michaels delivered brutal Sweet Chin Music to his supposed “favorite tag team partner,” Hulk Hogan. HBK just stared at the fallen Hogan as the crowd showered Michaels with deafening boos. Will HBK provide the fans with the method for his madness? Tune in to RAW to find out.

WWE.com has just learned that Intercontinental Champion Carlito will battle Shelton Benjamin tonight in a Vengeance rematch.

In another rematch from the Vengeance pay-per-view, Kane will face Edge. Can Kane, once again, defeat Edge? Find out tonight on RAW!

Sgt. Slaughter’s first-ever Bikini Boot Camp has come and gone, and Elisabeth was the winner. The win was an important one, as it gave the Diva hopeful immunity in the first round of voting for the 2005 RAW Diva Search.

Tonight, the Diva hopefuls will compete in a talent competition. There will be several unique talents on display. But before all this, one girl will be eliminated from the competition. Watch RAW to find out which girl is going home.

Also, WWE Champion John Cena and Chris Jericho got into a war of words last Monday on the Highlight Reel, but it soon turned into a war of fisticuffs as the two Superstars had to be separated. Will their paths cross once again tonight?

All this and more Monday at 9/8 CT only on Spike TV.

I've heard this from Bryan Alvarez online and Meltz last night on WOL, that HHH is keeping himself off TV indefinitely, although his movie project "La Jornada" is on the shelf indefnitely as well. The word from Meltz was since Hogan is back in the picture and HHHe feels he has been overexposed, he's keeping himself off of TV for awhile. That's not to say he won't be back in a couple of weeks, but he isn't slated back anytime soon.

WWE is not responsible for injuries inflicted by flying ping-pong balls.

He must have hit his head on the steel steps in HIAC and woke up and smelled the coffee.

For all the complaints of Carlito-Shelton...I would have hated to see the online reaction if Honky Tonk Man-Ricky Steamboat happened today.

All I know is, its always best for business for a face to chase the heel's title. I dont think theyll be releasing Shelton. He had a long run as IC champ, he got wins over HHH...he'll be kept around. I hope.
