RedJed 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2005 Will there even be a World title match due to Raven's contractual problems? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's already been debunked as a BS rumor. Overall, other than Joe/Sabin and Styles/Waltman, I am really not feeling this ppv at all. Of course I'll still order it though, hoping to eat some crow. That X Cup qualifying match looks weak as fuck on paper, didnt I see something like this on Impact just about every other week? I expect Naturals v. Team Canada, maybe a Roode-Hoyt rematch as well to round out the card. Rhyno appearing should be good though. I expect something with Jarrett, perhaps Jarrett v. Zach Gowen or something, or else just a segment with Jarrett and Rhyno perhaps. I expect most of the finishes to be pretty formulmatic, probably no real major chances taken here since they are still dark.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2005 It's funny you say that this card is weak, Jed, because I'm considering ordering this show because of how STRONG the card is. It has wrestlers I actually enjoy watching in matches that have either never happened before, or if they have were good enough the first time to repeat. Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2005 Jeff Jarrett's not on the card, It's already 100% better show on this fact alone. If I can get confirmation JJ won't make a surprise appearance, I may order this for fun.
Astro101 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2005 Yea, this card is strong. Raven and Abyss in a brutal match. Daniels vs Petey is gonna be very good. Super X qualifier will be a fast paced spot fest. AJ vs Waltman will be good, and will be better if Waltman delivers. Looking forward to the show.
Styles 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2005 According to Meltzer add Outlaw/Monty Brown vs. Killings/Konan and Naturals vs. Team Canada for the tag titles to make the card complete. Looks like a good show and I expect a few suprises too.
BoboBrazil 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2005 Too bad Matt Hardy won't be here now. Hopefully they push the button on the BG James turn and go ahead and put him back with Outlaw. The fans want it badly. Hopefully a few of the released WWE guys might show up too.

Hopefully a few of the released WWE guys might show up too. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's too bad Vince has smarted up after the WCW fiascos (meaning Hardy signed a new contract) as it would be fantastic to see Matt Hardy do a run-in. Now that TNA is the greener pastures that WCW was or anything, but that's beside the point.
Styles 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2005 I still leave a 1% chance of hope that he ends up getting a ticket ringside and is shown on camera in the crowd or something like that to further the character and to pay off his Sunday in Orlando rumors. But it's probably not likely to happen.
Astro101 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2005 Well, all he needs to do is show up early for a ticket. It doesn't even cost anything. But then he'll be in line being swarmed by the fans asking him about everything that's happened..
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2005 I think this is the strongest TNA card they've had since the Super X Cup. Joe/Sabin, Daniels/Williams, Styles/Waltman and AMW vs. Shane and Shelley are FRESH good matches. Team Canada vs. Naturals will be alright. As will the X division spotfest and the Raven/Abyss match (which will...at least...be different than everything else on the card). The guys always bring the effort...and I think this card is set up to be a homerun for TNA.

Looks like a good show and I expect a few suprises too. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have no problem with a 6 match card, cause it gives each match more time, but I must say that the 2 above mentioned tag matches were indeed expected. I dont know when Shane and Shelly got together and am a bit disappointed that Shelly is getting the same treatment as Joe.
Magus 0 Report post Posted July 13, 2005 Thoughts/Predictions: Raven vs. Abyss: This should be an excellent textbook brawl, better than any World Title match JJ could've pumped out. Raven wins, but only barely. Styles vs. Waltman: This should be interesting to see if Styles can carry Waltman again. Jerry Lynn's return is cool. I'd like to see him screw AJ out of the win, setting up a Lynn vs. Styles fued for old time's sake. Daniels vs. Petey: Solid X Division match, Daniels goes over clean. AMW vs. Shane/Shelley: Should be a good match, but I'm wondering how this will help turn AMW heel. Joe vs. Sabin: This will be better than Dutt/Joe. It'll probably be more evenly matched, but in the end Joe will come out on top. Perhaps a handshake afterwards. Naturals vs. Team Canada: Naturals retain, although I expect D'Amore to do his normal routine. Outlaw/Brown vs. Killings/Konnan: Well, this is the best opportunity to get-r-done. James come out, feigns helping 2LK, then KOs them to reunite with Outlaw. I see them fueding with Killings/Konnan for awhile, but where does Brown go from here? Skipper vs. Shark-Boy vs. Dutt vs. Batts: This should be a good opener. Good to see Batts is still working for TNA. Expect Skipper to get the win. I'd also like to see Jarrett come out to the ring at some point and start on another tirade about TNA being Planet Jarrett and how he needs the title back, only to have Rhino appear and GORE! him across the ring. Could cut a promo the next night, with Lynn saying that he thought Styles was phenomenal but Waltman was right, he just an egostical selfish asshole who is only interested in he himself getting bigger at the expense of others. KotM was every man for himself, what gave Styles the right to expect Waltman to hand him the belt. You dont think Team Canada will interfer in Petey's match? Maybe AMW lose, ableit barely, to them and one of them blames the other for it. Tenay could say the most established team in TNA lost to the a newly formed green team. I think its more a case of Sabin turning heel. Thats what I feel TNA will do this, but a handshake would be real cool. You think Team Canada will interfere in this match but not in the Petey match? What is the Team Canada combination for this match? Maybe back to where he should be? The ME? He could form a team with Rhyno intent on running JJ out of TNA. He could be baited by Zbysko with a Title shot. I only 3 words to say in response to your last comment: GORE GORE GORE!

As for Team Canada, yeah, they could get involved in Petey's match. That could make the title match more hard-fought, but I still see Daniels walking away the winner. Here's an idea for the AMW match. Maybe the Team Canada members are Young and Roode. They start to cheat, of course, which would lead Hoyt to come out and powerbomb Roode (or something, since he hates Roode) to help give AMW the win. After the match, Hoyt sticks around as Team Canada leave, thinking he's safe, but AMW get on the mic and yell at him that AMW doesn't need help getting a win. Hoyt gets beatdown and AMW leaves him lying. Attacking a beloved face like Hoyt is a good start at a heel turn, and could be a good fued for them.

Styles 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 TNA is now offering iMPACT! on it's website streamed through real player. They have the past 3 weeks of iMPACT! up for you to watch any time you want, so you can catch up on the storylines since the last PPV Slammeversary: http://www.tnawrestling.com/ (short version though, Raven won the King Of The Mountain match at the last PPV, Abyss won a #1 contender Gauntlet match at Hard Justice 2 PPVs ago, and now Father James Mitchell is back to manage Abyss and get his revenge on Raven from their feud 2 years ago where Raven ran Mitchell out of TNA. It became a "No Surrender" Dog Collar match after each guy attacked the other with a chain on iMPACT!)
Astro101 0 Report post Posted July 14, 2005 About the Styles/Waltman match, Waltman has said that AJ was naive the past either week or two weeks. What if the tables are turned and AJ works something out with Lynn? Waltman expects an unbiased ref but becomes the naive one when Lynn crosses him.
