NoCalMike Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 Bah Gawd why are they giving this man his own show. It seems today anyone with "attitude" is handed a show....
Hogan Made Wrestling Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 I guess ESPN figured they weren't quite at blowhard critical mass and could afford to get that much closer. I'm already getting annoyed by the promos for this show. "Quite frankly, that's all you need" is at about 0.6 Everest at this point, and rising.
Crimson Platypus Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 The good news is that it will get a few viewers at first and then drop hard after people see how bad it is and get cancelled with a quickness.
Guest Smues Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 The good news is that it will get a few viewers at first and then drop hard after people see how bad it is and get cancelled with a quickness. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I assumed the same thing about Rome is Burning but that's still on, so I'm not getting my hopes up on this pile of crap getting cancelled fast.
Crimson Platypus Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 The difference being that Jim Rome has a HUGE fan base from his radio show that probably watch every day (or whenever it's on, I don't watch it).
kkktookmybabyaway Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 So when is this crap-fest going to air?...
Crimson Platypus Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 Monday nights, I think it was at 8pm
CanadianChris Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 Monday nights, I think it was at 8pm <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's not going to last long in that spot, with MNF moving to ESPN next year.
The Czech Republic Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 So they're putting a Stephen A. Smith vehicle in prime time. Are they mad?? I hope this doesn't last long at all. And yeah I think the promos are gonna end up being 0.8 Everest when all is said and done.
Dangerous A Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 While Stephen A. Smith is bad and shouldn't have his own show, they could've done worse and given Lebatard his own show.
Cheech Tremendous Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 I wonder how many times he will be able to say "flat out" during one show.
Black Lushus Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 you know who needs his own show? Woody Paige...I could watch him fucking around and acting stupid for a half hour everyday...
Crimson Platypus Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 I couldn't take the way he talks for more than 5 minutes at a time really. Something about it just bugs me.
The Czech Republic Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 Woody Paige sorta has his spinoff, doesn't he? 1st and 10?
Cheech Tremendous Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 you know who needs his own show? Woody Paige...I could watch him fucking around and acting stupid for a half hour everyday... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Screw that, we need a Bill Walton show ASAP. It doesn't even have to be about sports, just a running commentary on anything he observes. I don't think I'd be able to turn away.
KingPK Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 "Turning the Paige" ....I kinda like that. However, if Skip Bayless gets his own show....
the max Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 Skip Bayless's show: A Retarded Guy Talks for 30 minutes! Tonight at 6!
Damaramu Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 Stephen A. Smith's show isn't even on primetime. It's on ESPN2 with Poker, Dog sports, softball, Rockies/Pirates games and other stuff nobody really cares about.
Black Lushus Posted July 21, 2005 Report Posted July 21, 2005 Charles Barkley is the one that needs his own show...
Steve J. Rogers Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 The difference being that Jim Rome has a HUGE fan base from his radio show that probably watch every day (or whenever it's on, I don't watch it). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Also Rome has built up a rep on talking general sports All the general public (except those listening to his radio show 12-2 on 1050am ESPN Radio in New York) knows about Steven A. Smith is that he's an NBA analyst
Guest Smues Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 HOWEVER! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's what I was thinking the show was going to be titled.
The Czech Republic Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 Screw that, we need a Bill Walton show ASAP. It doesn't even have to be about sports, just a running commentary on anything he observes. I don't think I'd be able to turn away. Oh man. I don't think I'd be able to handle it. Does Bill have a blog? That might be the next best thing.
cabbageboy Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 The most horrible thing ever would be a Smith/Bayless show though. I've seen the Old School/New School segments and remember them doing PTI last year, and lord did they suck. They shouldn't have two guys who are both annoying blowhards....1st and 10 works better simply because Bayless' boorish act is countered by Woody.
nl5xsk1 Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 you know who needs his own show? Woody Paige...I could watch him fucking around and acting stupid for a half hour everyday... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A lot of my animosity for Paige stems from living in CO as a Pats fan when he was writing for the Post, just pissing on them for losing to the Donkeys each year ... but a lot of my animosity towards Paige stems from the fact that I consider him an idiot. Man, Lushus, we disagree BIG time on this.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 you know who needs his own show? cabbageboy Posted July 22, 2005 Report Posted July 22, 2005 You know, if they're going to have these guest hosts on PTI why not to Mariotti/Woody? Thus, Paige can still do his Cold Pizza and 1st and 10 stuff on a monitor (like Buster Olney has done of late with Bayless) and then host PTI with Mariotti. It'd be nirvana for all the Woody Paige marks out there.
