King Kamala 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2005 For comedy's sake, Let's Go Mariners! Bring that streak up to 19.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2005 Yes, the 1961 Phillies hold the modern record. Worth noting that they came one win away from the National League pennant just three years later. The 1899 Cleveland Spiders lost 24 straight, and the 1889 Louisville Colonels of the American Association lost 26 consecutive games.
Bored 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2005 Royals are down 8-0. A's swept by the Orioles at home. Disgraceful. Yup the Royals are ending their streak this weekend. A's will be out of the Wild Card lead by possibly Friday.
ISportsFan 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2005 Twins break it open in the 16th and of course, the White Sox announcers are blaming it all on a fielder's choice they thought was a doubleplay. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was a double play, he missed the call. Of course, the Sox were bound to lose anyway with Adkins pitching over the next inning or two anyway, since the offense is nonexistant at this point. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2005 Fun Royals note. If they lose today, they would need to win every game the rest of the year to reach .500.
mike546 0 Report post Posted August 17, 2005 I hate watching Al Leiter pitch. Thank god Smalls up in the bullpen. The one who should be starting.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 Small is smoke and mirrors. There's no reason I would expect him to be any better than Al Leiter.
mike546 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 Wang was smoke and mirrors for about two months, and I'd take Smalls smoke and mirror stuff over Leiter walking everyone.
Guest Fishyswa Report post Posted August 18, 2005 He hasn't dropped the smoke or the mirrors yet so until he does I say we take him over a guy who hits 100 pitches before he gets an out in the 4th.
Mik 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 Yet another CG shutout for Dontrelle Willis tonight. Glad he hit that "second half wall" again. 16 wins.
the max 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 Dontrelle's not an ace. Don't be stupid.

devo 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 Glavine turns in another terrific performance (7 IP, 1 R, 9 H), and Floyd has a great night (gets on base in all four plate appearances) in a 5-1 Mets victory. With Houston losing and Philadelphia winning, the Mets are now 2 1/2 out of the Wild card behind said teams.
mike546 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 Why does Al always have to be right. edit: Embree got an out, holy crap!

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 Why does Al always have to be right. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The peripherals don't lie. That's how we can predict Leiter's bad season despite his 3.21 ERA last year.
Guest Fishyswa Report post Posted August 18, 2005 FUCK. Can we at least lose with some dignity. A walk and a wild pitch and we lose another series to the D-rays. Can we just play KC for the rest of the season? That would help.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 Brutal, crucial loss, as the Yanks drop 2/3 to Tampa, on a night where both Boston and Oakland lost as well.

For some reason, I always thought that 21 game losing streak by the Os was the longest. -- And as for the game today, I just finished watching it off the tivo, and I was really worried at first that Cabrerra wasn't starting and they had to use Dubose. But 1 hit through 6 innings was an awesome performance, its just ashame that the bullpen tried everything they could to blow it. So anyway, 7 gb of Oakland in the Wild Card at 60-60. Makes me happy. bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 That was the longest to start a season. Braves kicked the Dodgers' ass with Francoeur being a big assist. I think if he keeps this up, he's got to be a ROY contender.

I'd still be a little concerned about him not knowing the strike zone that much cause coming into tonight he had not drawn a walk yet. Which is really surprising. Fartsauce 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2005 I gotta toot my own teams horn again. Vernon Wells, Aaron Hill and Orlando Hudson just made 3 highlight reel catches in the span of 15 minutes. Josh Towers will be the blowjob giver after the game.
