HHH now is officially part of creative team

Recommended Posts

Source: PWInsider.com

For those wondering about the status of Triple H and WWE, he is currently working behind the scenes and still does attend both RAW and SmackDown! on a weekly basis. With Vince and Linda getting older, Triple H is basically being groomed to head up the company with Stephanie once they 'retire'. Triple H's name is also now on the format sheets indicating that he is a writer and a major force in the creative team. He had been working with creative but it was never publicized to any of the workers that he was a writer.

Triple H has also been at Titan Towers in Stamford, CT while TV tapings are not in progress. He is getting a more hands on look at the business standpoint of WWE. As of this time, he is not expected to return until the return of RAW to the USA Network.

While this isn't good when he decided to push himself and attempt to get no one else over but him, when he has to step aside, the fact remains that he loves the business and would want to do what's best for everyone in order to make money.

Yeah, this won't fuck morale up even more. Hunter loves the cruisers, and he loves anyone with a unique style, as shown by the way he put RVD over.

Sometimes I really wonder just how much of a genius Vince is. I forget who put the idea forward, but it was the idea that Vince really is just a jackass who got by through dumb luck and lucky breaks. I'm leaning in that direction now. No intelligent businessman would do the things he's doing to his company right now.

Sorry to say, but the shows haven't been good from a creative standpoint on a consistent basis since WM17. Sure, there were some spots here and there that were not terrible such as the SD Six run and some of the summer of '03 was watchable from the SD side. But the shows haven't had a run of even a month's worth of good TV in years.

Which was apparently enough to qualify HHH (who apparently was an 'invisible booker') as the new 'official writer'. Brilliant.

Who were the SD 6 again?

This maybe why Shelton Benjamin is getting squashed?

HHH probably loves Chris Masters and he wants to push him. He was probably thinking "Masters needs a nice win" and he looked at the tiny roster and thought ah who cares about Benjamin and just jobbed him to Masters.

Geez whiz, now this wouldn't be considered a conflict of interest, now would it? Isn't part of why WCW went out of business was because of wrestlers getting too much creative control?

Active wrestlers getting too much creative is what hurts booking. There have been some very small exceptions of wrestlers who were active who were on a booking team and didn't let things get in the way of doing what was right for business. Hiroshi Hase of NJPW in the early 90's is probrably the best example of this. Giant Baba would probrably be a close second, and even he would book himself to win things like Champion Carnival year after year. I would assume it's very hard to book things not involving yourself because you need to have the ability to think outside the box. HHH is very much inside the box.

Didn't we know this already?

With guys like Rey Mysterio coming up with stupid storylines as well I wonder how they stumble across entertaining segments and matches sometimes. Ironic, someone says the shows haven't been consistently good since WM 17 when the IWC was abuzz about HHH being with Steph. I swear they lucked out with WM 17 that year. It had to be the lead writer that quit who put down the basics around SummerSlam for Stephanie to be apart of WM 17. Although that show is over-rated sometimes IMO because we had crap like Jericho pissing in Regal's cup of tea and the RTC nonsense. Once the basic stuff like Austin turning heel and Undertaker retaining his streak were creatively well done it went to hell in a handbasket. At least we are getting some of the mid 90's worked shoot stuff with HBK's promos lately and not Katie Vick crap.

Well, it's official: I'm almost starting to believe that Vince is trying to destroy the company. Why else (other than the fact that HHH is married to the boss' daughter) would he make a dumb-as-shit move like this?

He really is that clueless.

Come on Benjamin had the belt for 8 months. He couldn't have jobbed that much :P

To be fair, HHH never actually said he was a writer although Landsberg started the show stating so. HHH said he was just "helping" with creative

Don't blame Vince. He's getting old and being taken advantage of by his little girl. Blame that Shane Mcmahon for allowing a wrestler to infiltrate the family and take his position

But they want to cry about it some more, Rudo. Same old, same old.

You can't possibly think it's a good thing for your top wrestler to be on the writing team, do you?

It's not like this is the first time a company's tried this. Flair had the pencil twice while he was in WCW. His stint as head booker in 1989 was probably the company's best year before the nWo storyline.

The problem isn't that the top wrestler is on the writing team, it's that that top wrestler is HHH.

No, in general it's a problem. Wrestlers obviously have egos and are obviously biased towards themselves. It is a conflict of interest, period. Having ideas is great, but wrestlers should not have the final say on what goes down.

So, I guess we are definitely going to see HHH become the greatest of all-time when he smashes Flair's record. I'm pretty sure the rumours of HHH/Hogan in the fall might have something to do with HBK/Hogan. I mean, he can't have HBK outshine him on this one after the last couple of years he's booked himself to defeat the showstopper. Some would call that retribution for all the times people called him a HBK wannabe in DX.

I've been saying since 1998 that Vince McMahon is not a genius, but a really lucky idiot.

Getting a little serious here, Meltzer says there are 18 writers on the staff. What the hell? He says that people rag on the wwe for not creating new top line stars, but they also haven't created any top line bookers and writers either.

When Dusty Rhodes is wanted on the team and is a breath of fresh air something's seriously wrong. Someone mentioned Flair being an excellent booker. So why isn't he on the damn staff? What happened to million dollar man and Steamboat?
