I think Clive Owen could pull it off, and Ewan McGregor is a bit too old at this point. Statham would make a better enemy of Bond than the role itself.

Jude Law will be the popular decision.

Owen's the kinda guy who'd be standing there.. calm, cool and collected, drinking a martini (shaken, not stirred).. and the next thing you know you're on the floor with a light bulb in your mouth and he's punching you in the face. Awww, yeah!

...so, Clive Owen's Bond villain would be Uncle Fester? O_o

I agree with Clive Owen and Julain McMahon. Has Colin Farrell already turned it down or something, because he'd bring the female audience.

McGregor's not too old if they base Bond's age on the originial books.

On the topic of McGregor being too "bright" to be Bond, it's not as though James Bond is some dark, brooding figure.  He's just calm and collected, something McGregor can play.

James Bond can smile. :)

I have to say Jude Law would be my pick. He's a good actor, has ALL the f'in charisma in the world. As for 'kicking ass', well Jude Law looks more like a spy than a soldier...isn't James Bond a -spy-?

*shrug*

Casino Royale is one of the earliest Bond books, which would imply that the actor would have to look rather young. But the producer has already said Judi Dench returns as M, and she's not getting any younger, so who really knows, really.

There's been a strong suggestion that they're going to slam the reset button on the continuity they've built thus far, so it's possible they could go with a younger Bond and an older MI6 crew.

That being said, I nominate Vince McMahon as Bond.  It would own and you know it.

Vince, after blowing up the hideout of the villian at the end- "You're FIRED!!"

Eric Bischoff would be the ultimate Bond Villain

Bischoff? Please, it should be Ric Flair.

"Now that I got cha sittin here, I'll tell ya what I'm gonna do. AT TWELVE AM.... FRIDAY NIGHT.... I'M GONNA STROLL RIGHT ON OVER TO THAT LIL BUTTON THERE.... AND WITH JUST A TAP... There's gonna be some serious *unintelligbile*"

(Flair starts speaking gibberish while flailing his arms around and makes a gesture that looks like the globe exploding)

"YEAHH! WHOOOO! So, how's that sittin with ya?"

Also, Kevin Nash would get 2.3 seconds of cameratime as Jaws before hurting himself.

What about Gerard Butler? He was in Phantom of the Opera as the Phantom, but I've seen him cast in other films and he's a good character. He's got the Scottish accent bit going, but he has the "Bond" look.

Jude Law would never work b/c he wouldn't want to be typecast as a "Bond" guy. I'm sure he'd want some more diverse roles than Bond movies.

Just my two cents, though.

Clive Owen is 7 years OLDER than Ewan McGregor...

Agreed with Christian Bale, but in 10 years when he's done dressing up as Batman... He's much too young right now.

So Bond is becoming a total puss?

Should have just hired Don Cheadle, at least he can act and be a bad ass.

And keep Julian McMahon miles away, his performance as Doctor Doom was an disgrace to villians everywhere.

I don't like this choice, they should have gone with Jude.

I disagree. I thought he did the role just fine.
