Matt Young Posted September 10, 2005 Report Posted September 10, 2005 A mere 15 months after here smash hit debut, Autobiography, Ashlee Simspon will be releasing I Am Me on October 18th. Ashlee has been all over TV and awards shows, and she and her sister Jessica were recently profiled in an E! True Hollywood Story special. Come on guys... I may not have the Ashlee avatar and sig anymore, but I still love the girl. Maybe now I'll be able to see her perform live after missing her tour-opening shows in LA and Anaheim last fall. Anyway, here's the information I received tonight in my "Ashlee's Insiders" e-mail update: September 9, 2005 Hey Matt, it's Ashlee! It's been an exciting and busy week for me! I just shot the video for my first single "Boyfriend" for my new album called I Am Me which comes out Oct.18th. I'm really excited for you all to hear it and see the video! I am going to TRL next week to show the finished video and hope you'll all vote for it on the countdown. Still not as hot as her sister, at least not to me, but the blonde hair helps a lot I think. It makes her nose look smaller. As far as her music is concerned, I think Biz Markie could hit more notes.

She looked better blonde, and she looked her best with black hair. EDIT: Oh wait... I just checked out her site for the first time in a while. I guess she is fully blonde again. Thus, it was somewhat disappointing. I'd like to hear it on a decent sound system, though, rather than through my tiny computer speakers.

That's not in the Rome clip. 2) sssscreeeeeeeeeeaaaaammmm!

What is wrong with you people? Its not music and shes not that attractive...had she not been a lil sister, the label wouldve gladly used a much less butterfaced gal. Fucking rubes.

You know what, when you have no voice and you can STILL charge 30 dollars for your crap..I am officially scared. I don't get why people like it, but eh. More power to em I guess.

The Orange Bowl and SNL were two isolated, yet unfortunately nationally publicized incidents. Ignorant Ashlee bashers and other people who just don't like her or even that type of music cite those as examples to prove how "horrible" she is. I've seen at least a dozen of her live performances, and she is more than competent. I'm not saying she has a great voice, but she sounds about as good as she does on the record.

I'm not saying she has a great voice, but she sounds about as good as she does on the record. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, but when you're a pop star, as opposed to, say, rock musician, where maybe you can kinda cover your ass with the lyrics themselves being more important than how they're sung (Bob Dylan, Roger Waters, Thom Yorke, John Darnielle), you're kind of expected to have a great voice, since that's all you're there to do. It's not like Ashlee Simpson is coming out with albums that are signposts for rock music, or some of the most profound lyrics ever. Her job is only to sing, and there are better vocalists out there with much less exposure. Matt, she sounds as good live as she does on the record because she lip-syncs.
