Favorite ECW Moments

This is prabably a redundant thread but I thought I would post it since the product has been so boring the last few months.

 

What are some of your favorite ecw moments ? I didn't get ecw on tv until early 96 so I won't post anything before that.

 

When I first saw ecw I imediately thought it was the best wrestling on tv.I also noticed a bunch of ex wwf/wcw guys in the company and being much more interesting in ecw.

 

Raven was by far the best character in the company imo.I thought his program with sandman was one of the highlights.

 

Shane Douglas being censored in every other sentence in his promos seemed cool at the time.I don't remember why but I liked his short fued with scorpio.

 

I marked out big time when rick rude showed up as the masked man.It seemed like a big deal that a former top guy like rude would go to a smaller fed.

 

I also liked it when terry gordy showed up and was there for a little while.

 

Taz choking everyone out in 2 minutes was also cool.

 

The best moment was when dreamer beat raven and lawler showed up.

It's probably different from my list on this thread 6 months ago but:

 

5) Bam Bam and Taz go through the stage.

 

4) Dreamer hands Raven a tag title.

 

3) Mikey gets the title.

 

2) Cactus turns on Dreamer.

 

1) Terry Funk rolls up Raven.

 

 

Honourable to New Jack's dive at n2r 99, and a bunch more that I'm too drunk to remember.

Most of mine are from the TNN era since that's 90% of the ECW I saw.

 

- Super Crazy shockingly wins the TV Title

- The Mikey/Tajiri/Minister promos

- I enjoyed the dynamic of Mike Awesome defending the ECW Title vs. New Jack

- The ECW/WWF fiasco from WrestlePalooza 1997 right through Taz winning the TV Title

- Kid Kash wins the TV Title from Rhino after intereference from almost the entire ECW roster

Maybe it is just me,but I thought ecw started to decline after 97,at least storyline wise.There were a few bright spots like rvd/lynn,awesome/tanaka,and tajiri/crazy but overall I thought it started becoming less interesting after 97.

I think it was the other way around, Raven hands a tag title to Dreamer.

 

One line from Joey stood out to me during an old Rey/Psicosis match, following a highspot.

 

"I'm sorry, but "Whattamaneuver" isn't gonna cut it here!!"

5. Tony Mamaluke and the unbelievable fucking flip onto the guardrail from TNN

4. The crazy brawl from TNN that involved Corino (first time with the red hair bladejob), Sandman, Rhino, Tajiri, Dusty, Dreamer

3. Wrestlepalooza 98 - The first show I watched. I disagree with all the bad critics.

2. RVD doing the Van Terminator for the first time

1. Seeing ECW live in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Sandman bringing his beer schtik to where my friends and I were sitting, Steve Corino and Dreamer brawling near us, Tanaka bouncing a basketball off one of the Baldies heads about 25 rows into the crowd, and a great Awesome-Rhino title match.

I remember Joey and Gertner doing commentary during a match between Super Crazy and somebody else, and then I guess Gertner got hit in the head, and he started speaking Spanish. Fookin' hilarious.

 

That, and the whole Awesome/Tanaka series. Also, gotta love the visual of Brian Lee chokeslamming Tommy Dreamer off the stage through the tables, and Dreamer getting his revenge at High Incident (terrible match, but worth a watch just for the ending).

I think the greatest moment(s) in ECW history was The Final Battle, The Rematch, and The Challenge and what happened after. 3 awesome moments back-to-back-to-back.

 

- Dreamer finally defeats Raven after various super near-falls.

- Louie/Dreamer feud continues.

- Sabu, RVD do the "lights out, lights on" attacks.

- Dreamer gains momentum, Raven leaves.

- JERRY FUCKING LAWLER in the arena.

- Locker room can't take Team WWF down.

- Run-ins galore, still, Team WWF reigns.

- Taz runs them off.

- Taz Vs. Sabu rematch.

- Sabu wins this time with a controversial pin.

- Douglas mocks Taz.

- The 3-minute match challenge for the ECW TV Title.

- Taz chokes Douglas out.

 

BETTER WATCH OUT, CAUSE IM A WAR MACHINE.

 

And the fans go wild.

Also, Raven coming back to win the tag titles with Dreamer (I won't list ALL the Raven-related moments, and this one stands out to me more than all the others), the WWF invasion, and I know there's some that I'm missing...

How about RVD winning the TV title from Bam Bam? The insane somersault into the 5th row made me leap out of my chair watching at home.

 

I'll also agree on the Wrestlepalooza 97 show from Raven/Dreamer till the Taz/Douglas match. ECW never had a better show. I got that show on a DVD a while back and it was like being taken on a wild ride.

Taz punking out Paul Varlans on the mic. That earned my loyalty when I saw it.

 

Taz almost breaking a cop's arm after doing the Pitbulls and nearly killing Lance Wright with a suplex through a table. That looked like it hurt legit.

 

Taz then cutting a promo the following week, basically punking out both Pitbulls and Lance Wright by challenging thrm to a three on one match.

 

Yes, these moments are Taz-oriented, but at the time I thought he was the baddest man in ECW bar none, especially when he had that TV title. It wasn;t as good when he had the World title, IMO.

Taz on Paul Varelans (it was at the end of an ecw tv episode during the "Pulp Fiction" music part)

Taz was more dominant as TV champ I think. And frankly, as world champ he didn't do much that he hadn't already done (beat up Douglas and Sabu) and after that was just messing around with the Dudleys, Steve Corino, Tajiri, etc. (guys no one thought had a shot). Besides, when Taz was world champ RVD was also the TV champ and RVD was clearly the bigger draw.
