CanadianGuitarist Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Couple things of note this week. Is it wrong of me to find NE vs SD far more interesting that the first ever game outside the U.S, when San Fran and Arizona square off in Mexico City Sunday evening? I'm also interested in Tennessee vs Indy, which is gonna screw up every bet I've made one way or the other. The Toronto Star is also reporting Paul Godfrey, #2 man for Rogers Communications will be in Mexico City(also a Blue Jays bigwig) in hopes to woo NFL execs into an exhibition game in Hogtown.
razazteca Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Its the only way the Cardinals can sellout a stadium....
devo Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Is it wrong of me to find NE vs SD far more interesting that the first ever game outside the U.S, when San Fran and Arizona square off in Mexico City Sunday evening? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not at all. SF/Arizona is pretty much guaranteed to suck regardless of where it's held. It'll be interesting to see how the crowd reacts to the game, though. I've got my breath held and my fingers crossed for the Jets game, where we'll see if Bollinger is any good and if he can keep any hopes for a decent season alive.
strummer Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Will Peterson might be out for the year for the Giants. Yup, take away the one decent player they have in that HORRIFIC secondary. The Rams are going to run wild.
Guest *KNK* Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Its the only way the Cardinals can sellout a stadium.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was the only franchise that wouldn't have upset fans for virtually losing a "home game". The decision to use SF was just confusing, as I figured they would try to give Mexico a marquee team in that spot.
Just John Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 I'll be attending the Philly/KC game this week, and I'm excited. I picked the Chiefs in an upset. McNabb's hurt, and the Akers loss could prove critical. NE/SD will be interesting to see if the Pats continue to prove doubters wrong.

RepoMan Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Any opinions 'bout the Bills @ Saints @ San Antonio? I think the loser's season is over.
2GOLD Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Any opinions 'bout the Bills @ Saints @ San Antonio? I think the loser's season is over. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> God help us if the Saints win. It'll be week one love times 100,000. And if the Saints lose, it'll be that they broke the hearts and the spirit of the people trying to get through this ordeal and it's a shame. Either way, we lose.
Guest Vitamin X Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 What took so long to get this one going? What the hell are you talking about? It (was) only Wednesday/Thursday. Usually this thread gets started on gameday Sunday, sometimes Saturday. I don't know why, but I still have a little bit of hope for my pathetic Packers. Even if they are playing the Panthers in Carolina after the cats lost a tough game to the fins in Miami. Green Bay is going to be one hell of a desperate team, and I sincerely believe it's the little things that are really killing them, penalties.. stupid turnovers, bad playcalling.. They could be 3-0 as much as they could be 0-3. They lost to a very good Tampa Bay team by only one point, lost to a shitty Browns team by 2, and should have beaten Detroit and were in it until they just gave up in the 4th quarter. I knew they weren't exactly going to be Super Bowl contenders or anything, but there's enough talent on the team to be better than 0-3, that's for sure. Although I must say my 7-9 prediction is looking pretty accurate at this point. I just don't want Favre to ever endure a losing season, he'd be the only QB in NFL history to not do so I believe, and I'd like for that legend to stay intact. Also, aside from this being a semi-homer pick (since they're my 2nd fave NFL team), I honestly do think the Dolphins will win the AFC East this year, becoming this year's version of the Chargers. They'll only get better once Ricky gets back as well.
Red Baron Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Skins 24 - Seahawks 13 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats if you expect Mark Brundell to show up.
CanadianChris Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 What do you mean, "what took so long?" Last week's thread didn't start until 2 hours before kickoff.
Slayer Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Hell, some weeks the thread doesn't get started until well after kickoff. As for the game in Mexico, they keep sending us crap, so it's only fair that we do the same.

I don't get why anyone would care about this game, except for maybe the Mexicans that are going to see it live. It's not like there are any different rules or anything. It's just a pair of piss-poor teams playing in a different stadium.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 What will they do in Miami when Ricky comes back? Ronnie did rush for 132 yards last week...
Guest I miss Test. Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Any opinions 'bout the Bills @ Saints @ San Antonio? I think the loser's season is over. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bills' season is already over due to losing Spikes... the one player they couldn't lose. The defense drops from strong, to average. And with a rookie QB, that isn't good.

Ripper Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Falcons play the Vikings. Ugh. Falcons secondary is completely depleted. Deangleo Hall and Bryan Scott are the only starters left and Deangleo shoulder is hurting. Two guys that weren't even playing football 2 weeks ago are the back up corners.. Hell...one of them is starting at the other side (either Cash or Morton) If the Falcons D line can get to Culpepper (which they should be able to do) then they can get something done, but he should have a field day with this beat up secondary. BUT. You have to factor in the Minnesota D, which I don't think can stop the running game of Duckett, Dunn, and Vick. Plus, Crumpler is going to murder who ever is covering him. (guessing Kieth Newman)
Black Lushus Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 who's NOT covering Chad Johnson this week?

Black Lushus Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 depends, porter...what's YOUR take on awesome bench guys who go back to the bench once a starter returns? Me, I say keep a good thing going, that's life in the big city...just like in Pittsburgh, keep Willie Parker out there until he starts sucking...there's no way in hell Ricky is at his regular level, why stick him in there to suck it up...maybe put him in on 3rd downs or other situations, that's it...
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 I'd have to see WHAT value Ricky has left. If he lost a step or two, I'd trade him out, but if he can still go, I'd demote Ronnie.
jwpeer Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 I'd have to see WHAT value Ricky has left. If he lost a step or two, I'd trade him out, but if he can still go, I'd demote Ronnie. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ricky did lose a lot of weight, and no one really knows just how much he's gotten back. I might use him in short yardage situations, and maybe in the 3rd/4th quarter to really beat on a tired defense, but early in the game I'd let Brown have the carries. Chad Johnson is gonna be 'covered' by Dunta Robinson I would imagine, and that could be a really good matchup as Robinson is fast, young, and has decent size. Chad Johnson will still make him look stupid though (Good for my fantasy team!)
Mik Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 I'm hoping Eli can continue producing like he did against the Chargers. To be honest, I haven't been this excited about football season in a few years. Even though Eli looks like one of those guys you used to know in high school that still can't quite figure out long division - I really think he has a chance to be a special quarterback.

therealworldschampion Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 I think there's a good chance that the Eagles lose on Sunday. Had KC won on Monday night, I'd figure that the Chiefs would be overconfident coming off a short week, but I think this game is potential trouble. Eagles cut McCants today to clear room for the extra kicker. GOD FOR FUCKING BID they cut Billy McWorthless....
Guest Vitamin X Posted September 30, 2005 Report Posted September 30, 2005 Skins 24 - Seahawks 13 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, imagine that.. The Skins breaking the 20-point barrier..
