Dandy 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 Okay someone has got to give me a brief synopsis of what went on after Dwight asked Jan if she was staying at Michael's. I usually record Earl and the 30 minutes that follow Earl on my DVR so I can get both shows. Totally forgot to compensate for the 40 minute shows this week, and me and Ms. Dandy are dying to know all that happened. Much thanks to anyone that can help! Dandy 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 Do I have to have an Ipod for that? Never used the site. We will see it for sure sometime, definitely when Season 2 comes out on DVD. We just want to know the gist of everything that went down. I caught that Jim told Pam he loved her, but nothing else.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 No, you don't need an IPod. Okay- here's the gist, and I'll put this in spoiler in case anyone doesn't want to know- Jim told Pam he loved her but Pam turned him down. Later Pam was talking to her mom about what happened and Jim came back and they kissed. And Jan didn't seem to happy that Michael was into the real estate agent, but Michael was just happy that he got both girls.
Dandy 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 Thanks, Bob. If I don't need an Ipod I will just download it. Thanks for letting me know what happened.
ZGangsta 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 God this show is too damn good. The end of tonight's episode was intense. I seriously think this show works drama better than almost any sitcom (if you can even call it a sitcom) out there because the characters are just so REAL. Some of my highlights: -Toby running down the reasons why they can't have boy scouts there and Michael's response. -Dwight as the wingman -"My God..." -Creed! That guy is hillarious, his straightforward explanation about stealing. -Pam giving Michael the 'dry runs' on the phone. -"And I am going to drop a deuce on everyone.' -Jim's attitude while confessing to Pam, no bullshit, no sitcom cliche overwrought speeches. That guy is a great actor. The Office started out good, but since the middle of the second season it has just shot into the stratosphere in terms of quality. It's dangerously close to Arrested Development level of goodness now in terms of the comedy.

DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 (paraphrased) "I don't believe you... please continue." "We're giving money to charity that was gambled... why don't we just do drugs or prostitute ourselves for charity too?" Great stuff all around, though I was a bit confused when I started my tape after work last night and was seemingly way too far into Earl's plot to have just missed a minute, but I guess NBC had a gimmick of 40 minutes shows last night. Special K 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 Loved it! As to which is better, Office UK or US, they've diverged a lot in tone. Office UK is painful to watch. That's not a criticism, it's meant to be that way. Michael Scott's a dick, but Carrell's loveable, and Dwight's hilarious. The show's a little broader, but still believable. Everything the boss says in UK Office is so exruciating. He still sort of means well, but he's just completely insufferable. The show's still very funny, though. Either way, they're about equal in my mind, but quite different.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 I believe "pathetic, but loveable" is the best way to describe Michael Scott...
The Electrifyer 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 All of the funny bits in the show last night have already been talked about, but I think I should point out how much I love Dwight's terrible timing and terrible excuses. Like when he came in to the meeting Michael had with the black warehouse guy late and then his reason for why he was there. Also when Jane or Michaels' realitor arrived and Dwight as the wingman delivered the warining to Michael late both times. Hilarious... I think he deserves his own pathetic, but loveable category too. Special K 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 I loved Rainn Wilson on 6' Under. He brought some creepy levity to a miserable (again, not a statement on its quality) show. I'm glad he found a consistent role to use his comedic talents. I get the feeling he improvs the most out of the cast, aside from Carrell. From the deleted scenes of Season One: My ideal date? I take her out to a nice dinner. She looks amazing. Some guy tries to hit on her... now he wants to fight. So I grab him! I throw him into the jukebox! Then the other ninja’s got a knife, he comes at me, we grapple, I turn his knife on him. Blood on the dance floor. She’s scared now. I take her home. I’m holding her in my arms. I reach in for a kiss. I hear something in the leaves, I flip her around, she gets a poison arrow right in her back. She was in on it the whole time... But I knew. I think the one happy thought I have about the demise of my beloved AD is that it has indirectly inspired a lot of good, no laugh-track comedies that seem to be doing pretty well. (BTW, how does the Office do) Though 2.5 fucking Men is still the #1 comedy in America, apparently.
Special K 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 BTW, even though it's a hilarious show, I am SO invested in the Jim/Pam relationship like a 14 yo girl (you know a lot of 14 yo girls?) Best couple ever in a sitcom. Ever. It is a bit too soon, but, but. Well I just watched the 6-hour Pride & Prejudice, and dammit, Go for it Jim. Go for it Pam. I know if this show's successful we'll have a fucking sitcom moment, but that felt natural, real, and completely unaffected. Pam is so goddamn cute. And Jim is fucking cuter. And as was said, it was done in a realistic way. A way every cute nerd guy, and every cute nerd girl could relate to. I mean GAY nerd. Who sniffs jockstraps. And does mothers. The Electrifyer 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 I might be in a minority about the Jim/Pam stuff but I'm not really digging it as much as some of you guys are. To me, the Office is just a silly show with humour and no seriousness. With the development in the last episode and Jim telling Pam his feelings, I just hope this doesn't interfere with the comedy and they control the level of "serious" moments. Guest StylesMark Report post Posted May 13, 2006 I liked the finale. I wish Michael would have dumped the other chick for Jan, but, meh. The Jim/Pam stuff should hit close to home for anyone who's ever been in that kind of situation.
