godthedog Posted October 22, 2005 Report Posted October 22, 2005 Outkast - Aquemini what do you think are the standout tracks on this album? i think it works really great as a whole, but aside from "rosa parks" i have trouble pointing to enough knock-you-on-your-ass songs to qualify it as the best.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 So many, I think. Return of the G Rosa Parks Skrew It on the Bar B Aquemini Da Art of Storytellin' (Part 1) SpottieOttieDopalicious Liberation Chonkyfire Plus, in a rarity in rap, the skits are pretty entertaining and/or add something to the songs they're sandwiched between.
UZI Suicide Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx Makaveli - The Don Killuminati - The 7 Day Theory Stone Temple Pilots - Tiny Music
Hank Kingsley Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Most of the good ones have been mentioned, but I'm surprised by the lack of Liquid Swords.
Gary Floyd Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Most of the good ones have been mentioned, but I'm surprised by the lack of Liquid Swords. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh yea, that is an awesome album. Can't believe I forgot that one. Anyways, some newer additions Meat Beat Manifesto-Subliminal Sandwich Aphex Twin-I Care Because You Do Merzbow-Music for Bondage Performance #1 Depeche Mode-Ultra
Lord of The Curry Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 Radiohead- OK Computer Broken Social Scene- You forgot it in people GZA- Liquid Swords Jeff Buckley- Grace DJ Shadow- Entroducing....
Edwin MacPhisto Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 I think one of the reasons no one named Liquid Swords initially is that the first Wu-Tang album is still better than pretty much anything Wu-related that followed it. Lots of the solo albums are really good (and Liquid Swords is one of the best), but Enter the Wu-Tang is unstoppable.
k thx Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 Although not many peoples favourite album, I think OK Computer is easily the best album since 1990. As a work of art, it's unmatched.
The Czech Republic Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 OK Computer is fantastic from start to finish, but "The Tourist" is a horrible song to listen to by itself.
CanadianGuitarist Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Although not many peoples favourite album, I think OK Computer is easily the best album since 1990. As a work of art, it's unmatched. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're certainly not the first person I've heard praise this album, even if I never cared for Radiohead.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 I've rediscovered Nasum's Inhale/Exhale and love it more than ever before. Very scathing and destructive.
Coffin Surfer Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 After putting a little more thought into this, I'm gonna withdraw my pervious nominations and go with Guitar Romantic by the Exploding Hearts.
Henry Spencer Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 The Soft Bulletin, after some consideration, is better than anything else mentioned here.
Copper Feel Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Wow, I finally listened to ATLiens. It's probably the best Outkast album I've heard, and I have all of theirs apart from their debut. The only other contender would be Stankonia.

Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 still gotta go with ween's 'the pod'. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think I might like The Mollusk more, but The pod is more of a mindfuck.
Guest *KNK* Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Jeff Buckley-Grace Pretty much the one album I continue to listen to on consistant basis because the theme and element of the album is always surrounding my life.
Skywarp! Posted October 31, 2005 Report Posted October 31, 2005 Although not many peoples favourite album, I think OK Computer is easily the best album since 1990. As a work of art, it's unmatched. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think that's Pitchfork's number 1 album of the '90s, so it can't be that odd of an opinion.
Kinetic Posted November 3, 2005 Report Posted November 3, 2005 Although not many peoples favourite album, I think OK Computer is easily the best album since 1990. As a work of art, it's unmatched. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think that's Pitchfork's number 1 album of the '90s, so it can't be that odd of an opinion. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was originally Loveless but they swapped the placing of those two albums when they revised the list a while back. The reasoning for the switch was pretty dubious, but I ultimately agree with the result.
SamoaRowe Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 Ben Folds Five- self titled album Tool- Aenima Pearl Jam- VS/Ten

The Czech Republic Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 Does everyone have a moment in their lives where they abruptly realize they cannot stand the Dave Matthews Band? I know I did. I think "I Did It" was the breaking point.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 Yeah. It wasn't a particular song, but I remember listening to Radiohead's The Bends one day towards the end of high school and thinking about halfway through "Just" "why the hell do I own a Dave Matthews album?" It was promptly sold.
The Czech Republic Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 Overhearing some idiot stoners fumbling through the beginning of "Satellite" over and over in an independent-study class down the hall cemented my decision.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted November 14, 2005 Report Posted November 14, 2005 There are a handful of songs I can stand, which is weird since I hate most of that particular genre. Sentimental value I suppose. Not my personal favourite, but one that doesn't get enough love (I don't think Pitchfork placed it even in its 100, and no one seemed to care) is Achtung Baby by U2. Just a great pop rock record from start to finish. Or just pop record, if the term 'pop rock' illicits too many bad images. Loveless is still my favourite though everyone seems to cream themselves over it anyway.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 Although not many peoples favourite album, I think OK Computer is easily the best album since 1990. As a work of art, it's unmatched. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Agreed. I feel if I attempt to rate a different album at the top, I'm just stretching. Here's my top 10 in alphabetical order. -Radiohead's Ok Computer -The Dead Milkmens' Not Richard, But Dick -Belle & Sebastian's Tigermilk -Belle & Sebastian's If You're Feeling Sinister -Pulp's This Is Hardcore -Nine Inch Nails' The Downward Spiral -Tori Amos' Little Earthquakes -Stone Temple Pilots' Core -Jeff Buckley's Grace -Bjork's Post
Giuseppe Zangara Posted November 15, 2005 Report Posted November 15, 2005 I always hated DMB, but, ya know, I've always been hip.
