Eddy Guerrero passes away

Recommended Posts

Guest Fishyswa

I think this should serve as a reminder that these guys literally do give everything to this sport, so much so that family's are left broken and lives are cut short. Eddie literally gave his life trying to entertain us, and it should be no wonder why people can become so emotionally attached to what's really just a TV show. The actors on CSI don't have to sacrifice years off their life to put on a good show. Wrestlers do.

I just watched the press conference that Chavo and Vince did regarding Eddie, and then watched a video of Eddie winning the title from Brock... teary eyed already... that video tonight on RAW to "Hurt" is going to break me down, I know it.

I told my girlfriend she can't watch RAW with me tonight. I'll be crying probably.

It's taken me this long to post since learning last night

I'm trying not to dwell too much on it, because I know if I do I'll probably break down

It'll be a while before I can sit down and watch the Eddie DVD again, I'm looking at it right now, it'll probably all sink in tonight on RAW.

Off the top of my head I remmember 2 live events seeing Eddie wrestle, one was a Smackdown taping in Nov 2002 vs Rey Mysterio during the height of the Smackdown Six era. The other was a WCW house show in 1996 vs Dean Malenko, I still feel lucky to have seen those to go at it live.

Vaya Con Dios Eddie, may your soul never suffer again

To his wife, daughters family and friends, he will never be replaced and will be missed far greater than I am sure any of us can imagine.

Huge loss to the wrestling world. Even bigger lost to his family and friends. I watched the end of his DVD last night after I heard the news and it made me smile because Eddie overcame so much in the past few years.

R.I.P. Eddie... thanks for the memories.

Thanks for reminding me why I stick with this stuff. It won't sink in until I watch raw tonight. Eddie Guerrero R.I.P.!!!! What more can I say that hasn't been said on the net already?

It takes weeks for toxicology reports (which sadly have usually become standard for wrestling deaths). Autopsies are usually immediate.

My Testimonial on WWE.com:

Eddie Guerrero occupies a place in my heart, and the hearts of all wrestling fans. We daydream about seeing, meeting, working with men like Eddie Guerrero. That dream is gone, but it is replaced by another. I now dream that I can be the kind of man Eddie was.

Thank you Eddie, for making me laugh, for making me smile, for making me jump out of my seat and cheer. But most of all, thank you for being the man that you were.

A message from Vicki Guerrero

Nov. 14, 2005

On behalf of the entire Guerrero family, Vicki Guerrero would like to thank all the fans for their overwhelming show of support at this most difficult time. Mrs. Guerrero would also like to ask the fans to respect the family’s privacy, most especially the privacy of their children. Eddie’s funeral will be closed to the public.

I'm not sure what this says about how the general public views the WWE, but today when I told my friend about Eddie he said he read about it yesterday but just assumed it was just another one of those "shocking" storylines. I had to reassure him this wasn't a work.

This was the main talk of work today, I thought I was the only one who knew who Eddie was but it turns out, more people then I realize at least knew of Eddie Guerrero.

We mainly talked about our favorite matches and such. During lunch break, a couple of us went into the office and we watched the Mysterio HH97 match and had some local mexican take out (cheesy but still) as a mild tribute to him.

That's one of the best things about Mexican food though.

Seriously though, we all have had some sort of tribute I'm sure, and if most haven't by now, they will. I watched a bunch of his best matches, and have been talking about his career with a bunch of other people, even those who just watch wrestling causally. RAW and SD will be, I'm sure, fantastic tributes.

anyone else flip through the local news and cable news channels looking for any mention? I did last night and today, it was on the crawls of several of the channels and such. Actually when there was no mentions, I almost felt angry that someone would ignore this (but hey this is pro wrestling not exaclty a big news in mainstream) MSNBC had a piece on him earlier today showing the fans at the taping last night, later they had a live interview with JBL, who paid tribute to Eddie and gave him credit for making him a main event wrestler in WWE (he claimed Eddie went to management last year when there were worries JBL couldnt work a main event with him and gave him his approval and stuck up for him).

This RAW is going to be as hard or maybe worse than the Owen show to me.

I'd like to think that somewhere above Eddy is tagging with Art again in the main event, with his dad in his corner.

well I was just trying to be nice guys, if there is a heaven I know Eddy is there, likely reunited with his father. sorry if my lame tribute line offended someone.

this sucks

Thank you Eddy fo all the memories.

Funeral is Thursday, not Wednesday in Arizona. They are keeping the location a secret so it doesn't become a fiasco.

Well I'm sure someone out there knows where The Superstar goes to church. He said that's where it was going to be.

I hope fans don't crash it though, I hate when people pull that shit.

Could be a diversion. However, It's not like Arizona is crawling with obsessed wrestling fans looking to be involved with his funeral.

Wasn't Owen's funeral in Canada a major deal? I remember seeing footage of it and it looked like a royal funeral seeing how deep the crowd was.

Im sure in Heaven, Owen has suddenly lost his wallet and Eddie has told him that he must of misplaced it. Boss Man isn't so convinced.

Yea, Owen's funeral was crazy. In Martha Hart's book, it sounded like the city of Calgary stopped to remember him. The premiere of Alberta was even there.
