Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2005 New ESPN Rankings... 1. Pistons 2. Mavericks 3. Spurs 4. Grizzlies 5. Pacers 6. Nuggets 7. Clippers 8. Suns 9. Cavaliers 10. Warriors 11. Timberwolves 12. Wizards 13. Bucks 14. Sixers 15. Bulls 16. Heat 17. Hornets 18. Magic 19. Kings 20. Nets 21. Jazz 22. Celtics 23. Trail Blazers 24. Bobcats 25. Lakers 26. Sonics 27. Knicks 28. Hawks 29. Rockets 30. Raptors Well, I guess me calling Memphis a "power team" a couple weeks ago isn't so out of line, eh? The Rockets have to be the biggest disappointment of the season, even with T-Mac hurt. Yao isn't bad, but he isn't as good as he should be.

C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2005 Went to the Sixers/Blazers game last night. Attendance was terrible and the Sixers didn't play particularly well, but still killed the Blazers. I take that to mean that Portland is going to have a long year. As a side Portland question, I thought that they were going to upgrade their image? Why is Rueben Patterson anywhere near the team then?
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2005 I wonder what will bring the ugliest result tonight...Pacers/Suns, or IU/Duke
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2005 As a side Portland question, I thought that they were going to upgrade their image? Why is Rueben Patterson anywhere near the team then? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They want to trade him, but he's got a fairly expensive (for what he brings to the table, defense and energy, not much else) contract, and so far it seems like the Knicks are the only interested team. I think they're offering Malik Rose, who the Blazers don't seem to be interested in. Malik Rose is a leader by example, high character guy, brings about the same skills on court as Patterson just as a 4 rather than a 3, and the contract is about the same IIRC. Seems like Portland would want to do it just to get rid of the headache.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2005 Everytime I read about a trade rumor, it seems, the line "the Knicks are offering Malik Rose" is included.
lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2005 I can't wait for the Larry Brown vs the Pistons matchup on Sunday. Hopefully LB will realize that he not only fucked up a two peat, but he left at worst the second best team in the league to go chase his dream of coaching the lottery-bound Knicks

Good read as usual http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...=simmons/051130 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The man knows what he is talking about, but he would be sooo much better if he didn't pull one-liners in every other sentence... seriously, Bill, ease back on the schtick just a little bit. Brown fucked up a two-peat? I didn't realize it was his fault they lost. I know he's coaching your team Roy, but it is rather common knowledge that he kept an excessively tight rotation and would not play the youngers guys to give the starters rest and it caught up with the Pistons in the Finals. And even then, they were nine minutes and change away from repeating. If the Knicks had a starting five half as good as the Pistons do, Channing Frye would be their version of Darko, sitting on the end of the bench. Larry is playing the younger guys because he has nothing else, and it just so happens that its paying off. I wish I could say that he has finally learned a lesson, but I just don't think so. bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2005 ^ Also I know a lot of people give him flak for going small and putting Tayshaun Prince on Duncan late in Game 7 when the other bigs got into foul trouble, feeling it turned the tide and allowed Duncan to get back into the game (remember, there was quite a bit of Duncan = choker feelings going around at the time). He was having a bad game up until that point.
lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2005 All those statements are true, but also you have to remember during the entire playoff run there was so much talk of how Brown was going to the Cavs as the director of player personnel or whatever, and it was obvious it agitated some of the players. Brown lending some truth to those comments no matter how realistic they were, could not have been anything less than a mild distraction to the Pistons. I honestly feel if he would have waited until after the season or at least not made his feelings public, that the Pistons would be the defending champions right now....especially if Sheed doesn't have the retarded idea to leave Horry open
Ripper 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2005 Dear Lord did the suns put a whoopin on the Pacers last night. Boris Diaw is going to win most improved player. Seriously, the guy is dropping a near triple double a night.

He was having a bad game up until that point. I agree. Tayshaun is a wonderful defender, but thats asking a little too much of him to match up defensively against Duncan, arguably the best player in the league, period. And yes, the "Duncan is a choker" talk was rather overblown. I got caught up in it, then I remembered just who he is. All those statements are true, but also you have to remember during the entire playoff run there was so much talk of how Brown was going to the Cavs as the director of player personnel or whatever, and it was obvious it agitated some of the players. Larry Brown is like TO in the way that he does and says things strictly to get attention. If he had simply kept quiet about coaching the Knicks, things might have been different, but we'll never know... Its one thing to come into a situation like the Pistons and take that team to the promised land, when they were already close. I just wonder if he will stick around long enough to make the Knicks respectable again before his eyes start to wander and he opens his mouth about another "dream job". When it come to coaching teams, Larry Brown is a slut. Nuff said.
jwpeer 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2005 Dear Lord did the suns put a whoopin on the Pacers last night. Boris Diaw is going to win most improved player. Seriously, the guy is dropping a near triple double a night. I think his improvement also vindicates Steve Nash's mvp award last year. He's turned Boris Diaw into Joe Johnson
Ripper 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2005 (edited) You know, i think that Nash's improvement over the past few weeks has been alot because of Diaw. The bascially have a point guard playing center and powerforward for them. I saw his talent when he played in Atlanta, but apparently the Atlanta management didn't. The suns have been winning since they started playing their offense through Diaw and its taking some of the pressure off of nash and he looks alot more energized. The lineup of Amare, diaw, Marion, barbosa and Nash looks damn good for the playoffs. Edited December 1, 2005 by Ripper
