Sagat: Is this a joke? This money isn't worth the paper it's printed on!

Bison: On the contrary, every Bison Dollar will be worth five British Pounds. That is the exchange rate the Bank of England will set, once I've kidnapped their queen.

Chun Li: Colonel Guile? Colonel Guile! Colonel Guile, Chung-Li Zang, GNT News. May we speak to you, please?

Colonel William F. Guile: No.

Chun Li: But don't you want to speak to the world audience?

Colonel William F. Guile: No, but I do want to talk to someone.

*takes Chung-Li's microphone*

Colonel William F. Guile: That bastard Bison! I know you like to look at yourself on television, you sick son of a bitch. So look at this!

*flips Bison off*

It's fun! I've always thought that, years before it was ok to admit that on the internet.

It's not even really "unintentially funny" either. Those favorite lines didn't just magically write themselves and Raul Julia was surely aware he was acting way over the top. The movie is silly on purpose, it's got some legitmately funny parts. Bison changing into a smoking jacket version of his uniform with the goofy portriats of him on a horse and as a clown, Dee Jay wishing he had stayed at Microsoft, E. Honda no selling the whips, Sagat talking about how he owns the town and can do whatever he wants then you hear the warning about curfew over the intercom, and Bison's speech about wanting to face Guile with honor in hand to hand combat.....then snap his neck.

I never cared much about the story differences. The game doesn't have much of a story at all in the first place. So much of the SF story was all retcon from years after that movie came out anyway. Mortal Kombat changed a bunch of the story and nobody cared. SF movie's story does a decent enough job of explaining why all the characters were there. Better than how MK Annihilation did it where they just threw in random characters for 5 minutes just to have them there.

Edit: and the way Bison's floating platform of doom is driven by the control panel for Super SF II arcade is such a cool nod to the games. If Capcom ever gets around to actually making a new game they should do an intro for Bison where he comes out floating on that thing.

Street Fighter is my favorite video game movie ever, if The Wizard doesn't count. My friends were all over the Mortal Kombat movie when both films came out, I was the only one who preferred SF over MK. Raul Julia IS the movie. I remember the scene after the credits where he launches back his world domination plans to tease a sequel.

Since we're talking about video games-inspired movies, I think Mortal Kombat : Annihilation is by far the most retarded movie of the genre. However, I didn't saw any of Uwe Boll's films, so maybe Annihilation is like Citizen Kane compared to them. Does anyone else remember the Mortal Kombat TV series ?

Was that the one with the asian chick from Girl Next Door playing a fortune teller?

I liked the series, it was one right before WCW. It was pretty cool IIRC, pretty dark too.

The first movie was good, the second was awful. It was a direct-to-video movie that somehow got released in theaters.

Mortal Kombat the series was good old fashioned cheesy fun, complete with some WCW tie-ins (didn't a couple of wrestlers show up?). Plus, it had Kristanna Loken, Jamie Pressly, AND Fabiana Udenio so at least it had some nice eye candy. And of course, the all time best series ending episode with the Emperor coming to Earth and killing everyone. Classic.

First movie kicked ass. Saw it in college with a bunch of my teammates from the football team (came out during two a days IIRC, so there wasn't a lot going on on campus). Enjoyable popcorn flick.

Had no interest in seeing the sequel, and waited until it came to TV before seeing it. I'm glad I didn't spend money on a ticket. Awful awful awful movie.

MK Annihilation is terrible but terribly funny. MK and SF are much, much better films on any scale, though.

The writing sucks. The best character from MK1, Johnny Cage, is killed off. Chris Lambert wouldn't return for Raiden (big warning sign there). Liu Kang and Kitana are supposed to be having a developing romantic relationship despite the fact that they have zero chemisty. People are shot around through holes in the earth in giant hamster balls. Two major characters are revealed to be LONG LOST BROTHERS. You see people being tossed to their death and changing into someone else. Sheeva got squished so save on fx since they were going to be having Motaro fight. There's the cg tattoos that come off people's skin. Then there's animalities...

Oh, my favorite line... "DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF THE HUMAN SPIRIT!" spoken as a word of caution to Shao Kahn. Like, it's supposed to be a feel-good moment or something, but it's giggle-tastic with it's timing and deliver. The whole thing with Jax's bionic arms was stupid too. Not the arms themselves, but Raiden badgering him to fight without them. Yet they'd been a big help the entire movie and there was no noticable downside to actually using them.

IIRC, Shao Kahn kills Rain because, even though his accomplished his task of knocking off his target (who I think was Kabal, or Stryker, or something like that), he DIDN'T MAKE HIM BEG FIRST.

And it's still better than Uwe Boll's movies.

It's both Kabal and Stryker.

I've always wondered why Rain was in such a high position in the movie. Rain? How random. Why wasn't Motaro his right hand horse man?

Quick! Change The Channel!!

But seriously, there was a moment in that video where Vega was standing with the other bad guys with his mask on, and it was the coolest he looked in the whole time as that character.

Oh man. I thought the Street Fighter movie was truly awful when it first came out. I actually saw it right around Christmas in 1994, seem to recall looking forward to it. Much like Judge Dredd it seemed like just a mediocre to bad actioner at the time, but now it's hilarious and campy.

There was sooooo much wrong with this movie. From Van Damme trying to be an American Guile, to Guile being the lead in it anyway, to the burial of Ken and Ryu as two loser con men, to the Carlos-Blanka deal, to Balrog and E. Honda being good guys in the movie (they seemed heelish on the game), to Dhalsim being a doctor and nothing else (he was one of my favorites on the game). Julia as M. Bison is really the only thing they did right, along with some of the lesser heels like Zangiev and Vega. I will say Zangiev was hilarious and Vega had a really cool look.

Street Fighter is really kind of hard to do as a movie, since the game is essentially "pick a fighter and face everyone else" and not a whole lot else.

I always had a soft spot for the Mortal Kombat Soundtracks. Don't know why, but I do.

I also have a soft spot for the Super Mario Bros. movie, simply because it has Dennis Hopper as Koopa.

Chun Li: My father saved his village at the cost of his own life. You had him shot as you ran away. A hero at a thousand paces!

Bison: I'm sorry... I don't remember any of it.

Chun Li: You don't remember?

Bison: For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important

day of your life. But for me... it was Tuesday.

BUMP - because this is STILL the greatest line ever spoken on film. :P
