2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2006 1) Throwing it at all when up 5. 2) Running on 4th and 2 at midfield when a punt pins them inside the 10, or at worst the 20. 3) Sending a blitz and using prevent D on 4th and 5 allowing Vince to walk into the end zone from the 9. 4) Calling your last fucking timeout to stop a 2-point conversion that had no bearing on the fact you needed a FG either way. 5) Leinart wasting the last 8 seconds instead of just throwing the ball into the dirt. I can't think of what the dumbest move was there, and that doesn't even touch on Bush's idiocy in the first half. Props to Texas, but it was like USC didn't want to win this game and did everything they could to ensure that happened. I'm pretty sure the non-review of the Texas touchdown in the first half ranks right up there as a dumb move. You review the obvious stuff that didn't need reviewing but review the shit that was a waste of time.

yankovic fan 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2006 If it isn't the greatest performance in college football history then it's damn close. Vince Young appears to be a god. I always pictured God as having a beard and not holding up the \m/ sign, but that's just me. What would happen if they drop the crystal football?

Guest Report post Posted January 5, 2006 Lienart took WAY too much time on that last play....sad. Yeah, oh well. That has to go down as one of the worst decsions in college football history. Why in the fucking world would he call time out? No reasonable explanation can be created. Are you fucking retarded? Carroll didn't call timeout, a player did. 1) Throwing it at all when up 5. 2) Running on 4th and 2 at midfield when a punt pins them inside the 10, or at worst the 20. 3) Sending a blitz and using prevent D on 4th and 5 allowing Vince to walk into the end zone from the 9. 4) Calling your last fucking timeout to stop a 2-point conversion that had no bearing on the fact you needed a FG either way. 5) Leinart wasting the last 8 seconds instead of just throwing the ball into the dirt. Props to Texas, but it was like USC didn't want to win this game and did everything they could to ensure that happened. Carroll didn't fuck up at all. Texas was simply better. Also, I'm not punting the ball to that fucking quarterback. He made the right call.

teke184 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2006 Does Vince go #1 over Bush now? Depends on the trade situation... I'd sure consider taking Vince at #2 over Leinart if I were the Saints GM. I think it depends on the Saints needs. Aaron Brooks sucks at QB. Then again, the running game isn't great, its not bad with a healthy Deuce McAllister. I would take Young over Bush. I don't think I've seen any one player in football impose his will on a game like Vince Young. You see dominating individual performances in sports like baseball and basketball, but you don't see it in football, which is the ultimate team sport. Young is special, and he looks like the QB that Michael Vick isn't. A guy that can revolutionize and change the game. Brooks is gone... He wore out his welcome BEFORE the season and finally got pulled as starter, which had only happened due to injury before. As for Deuce, the combo of him, Antowan Smith, and Aaron Stecker at RB and Mike Karney at FB can work if there's a passing game to give them cover. Having someone like Young come in and be a threat to run FORWARD on a scramble, instead of losing 30 yards on a sack, would also help.
Guest Leelee Report post Posted January 5, 2006 Awesome performance by Vince Young. Does Vince go #1 over Bush now? Lol. I'll go out on a limb, and say an NFL team will not be able to get out of trouble like Texas did against USC and OSU... by having VY run for 200+ yards. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2006 Oh well if Vince doesn't come back OU can CRUSH the defending national champions! HAHAHAHA! Hell it'd be better to do it with VY in the backfield! What are Vince Young's final numbers? He was definitely better than both Mr. Heismans. Holy shit what a performance by Vince Young. Will we EVER see another performance like that? jwpeer 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2006 Reggie Bush did not look like a pro player out there. He should have cut upfield on that last run, the clock would have stopped with the first down spike it, kick the long field goal...or he does something amazing and scores a TD. Bush lost ALL of his confidence after the botched pitch play. Lendale White on the other hand, DID look like a pro player. Vince Young looked great...against a young and slow defense. I think it would have been...different against USC 2 years ago when Troy Polamalu was roaming the defensive backfield. Young is going to be an interesting pro, he's not going to be able to scramble like that in the pro's, he doesn't have the same type of foot speed that Vick has...but he may be a MUCH better passer already. I can't wait to see what team he goes to...and how they actually use them. Fun game, some bad coaching decisions especially on the last offensive drive. Carroll didn't gameplan the zone read play very well at all, either that or all his defensive players are dumbasses. Texas just kept running receiver flood plays and zone blocking schemes with playaction then Vince Young would run the opposite way. They needed to play a defensive end contain scheme and push young straight up the middle into a linebacker zone (Would have helped against the tight end in the middle of the field as well) Just poor defensive adjustments. So does VInce Young go to the nfl? I say he should, nothing left for him at this level.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2006 Oh and you know what else? Despite being on the losing end I think it's quite apparent that LenDale White is A FUCKING MAN. What a performance by him as well.

Guest Report post Posted January 5, 2006 (edited) I do have to agree with Matt Leinart on the better team part. Vince Young had the greatest performance that I've ever seen tonight and without him, Texas is sitting in the Independence Bowl. Also, on the shortcomings of USC's defense, that team clearly did not have the defensive talent to match up with Texas and the players that they did have out there had no business being out there. naiwf 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2006 I wouldn't take Leinart over Young unless I had a great line because Leinart is a next generation Drew Bledsoe when it comes to a lack of mobility. He'd get murdered at the pro level. Young could end up being better than Vick, but that also means he's a dangerous pick since he's more likely to get hurt scrambling and his throwing motion is not good for the NFL.
