"Continuity" and "logic" are foreign to WWE right now.

I'm in the minority here, but to me, this doesnt sound like a bad ppv lineup at all really, especially considering it's Smackdown and this brand has had issues with decent lineups on paper all year long. NWO, GAB, Judgment Day and No Mercy all had much weaker lineups going into the ppv than this. Still probably not going to buy it but might at least be interested enough that I'll go find it for free at a local bar or something.

HIAC: Orton has to go over here considering they want him as their next champ, apparently. Might be a stretch, but I could see Orton taking a big bump, basically selling it like he's done, and then just as Taker is about to win, out comes Boogeyman to start a feud with him and Taker. Think deja-vu of sorts as this would be a similar formula they did for the first HIAC (Michaels gets ass kicked pretty much entire match, is about to lose, but wins via screwjob).

Batista/Rey v. Show/Kane: Match should have been hyped up much better than it was and given the circumstances, they really could have made this a tag title match that would merge the belts together and whoever would win, that specific brand would get the tag belts. Knowing how the booking is lately (hotshotting alot) they very well might add that stip during the pre-show or something. Rey/Batista should be going over here considering there is zero steam on this feud and I would imagine Batista/Rey are going to stay a team for awhile now with the injury Batista is nursing. Plus Raw doesnt need any tag belts at this point since there are virtually zero teams around there, and Kane and Show seem to be headed to seperate singles feuds down the road.

Booker/Benoit: Benoit has to win this, losing would just bury him. All of their matches so far have been very solid, so this should be around the same line, if not a little better than usual. Possible MOTN if HIAC doesnt click.

MNM/Mexis: Looking forward to this match, could be good. MNM wins to get some heat back from the title loss.

Kash/Juvi: Dont think they have ever worked against each other, dont remember anything in TNA at least. Might be good if you give them 10-15 minutes (which may be possible since there is only 6 matches on here and a virtual squash w/ Lashley match) and if both stray away from typical WWE style. Could see a title change here.

Hardy/JBL: Not a bad match for just being thrown on a ppv. Could see this feud going longer than just this one match, likely some sort of schmoz finish with Hardy losing.

Lashley v. Regal/Burchall: Basic squash, we all know who will win. Hoping this bury job on the tag team here means they might get a title run from Batista/Rey losing them to Regal/Burchall down the road.

This card actually looks very good on paper from a match standpoint (save for the Lashley squash), but the problem is there isn't really anything important going on. The major titles aren't really up for grabs, and Orton/UT just seems like an upper midcard level feud, instead of the ME. This could actually be a solid show and a sleeper candidate for top 2-3 ppv of the year. Kinda reminds me of one of those mid 97 WCW cards with nothing major happening, but lots of potentially good workrate matches.

I also think we see the return of the big HIAC bump, as I think Orton has the balls (and health) to take one.

Out of the whole PPV, only three matches matter (4 if you count MNM/Mexicools). IMO, Vince should really consider doing away with the December PPV (and Taboo Tuesday) and have Survivor Series as the last PPV of the year.

Randy Orton will attempt to outdue Foley and re-earn the respect he got for the thumbtack bump. Thats my only prediction for this el dandy of a payperview.

Isnt 3 meaningful matches pretty good for any ppv nowadays?

A little off topic, but does anyone know if you can burn a WWE PPV webcast to a blank DVD-R disc if you bought the webcast?

Has Benoit re-signed with WWE? The more and more I think about it this Sunday seems like it could be Benoit's last match.

That's barely enough to make me buy the DVD next month, but not to order the show.

Soo I was thinking about going to the PPV today because it is in Providence which is about 50 minutes away from me. However, Ticketmaster.com says that there aren't any tickets available, which is nonsense since the show isn't sold out.

I'm too lazy to make a phone call, so fuck them.

So, I think this should be the OaO thread, Heat has begun. There was a problem, and now it started again. There were small TNA chants. Seriously.

There must be some bizarro universe where people start "WCW" chants.

Jamie Noble vs. Funaki is the Heat match. As good a match as you're going to get in 3:30 with Noble winning with a dragon sleeper via submission.

WHO ARE YOU TO DOUBT EL DANDY?!

Beat me to it

I'm in agreement with everyone else. Orton has to bump like a MAN in this match for it to work, and still pull off the win. Brock and Undertaker managed to pull off one of the best HIAC's ever back in 2002 with really no sick bumps. It was just a bloody fight that saw Brock get a relatively clean win.

JBL/Hardy to start things off.

Think about this, last year, JBL was MAIN EVENTING this event.

I that's more a reflection on Hardy's status than JBL's...plus there's no actual feud to go with this match.

Anyone else getting annoyed during the promo for the Wrestlemania box set when they say "Legends are born" and they show Bret, HBK, Austin, Benoit, Eddie, etc, with John Cena in the middle of all these guys?

In fairness, he is the current company champion and he did win the title at Wrestlemania (even if the match sucked).

Orton needs to do an Eddie Judgment Day 2004 level blade job tonight AND work like a madman in order to make me care about him. I don't find anything he does interesting, but if he's willing to go "the extra mile" then maybe that'll make me not want to stab my eyes out while he's wrestling, especially if he's due for the Rumble/'Mania double next year.

JBL vs. Matt Hardy opens the show. JBL won what was really a fairly quick squash match after a clothesline. Hardy only got one 30 second or so comeback spot the entire match. I don't know what was said, but there was a fan at ringside who must have really gotten under JBL's skin because at the finish out of nowhere he flipped the fan off and you could see he was not happy about something.

Awesome. I bet that'll get edited out of the DVD, though.

Pretty enjoyable match, did absolutely nothing for Matt Hardy, JBL looked damn dominate though.
