Great episodes. The only thing that could have made them better was Jack's phone playing "Pop Goes the Weasel" when he started it before blowing the hell out of the terrorist.

Was anyone else kind of pissed off that Jack gave in to the terrorists just to save that stupid kid? If they were even mildly intelligent, they would have noticed the "Flank Two" thing right off, and then he could have blown the whole mission. I have to say, tonight's episodes were nowhere near as good as last night's.

My one qualm with this season thus far is that the timeline is shaping up to be very similar to last season. This year's airport hostage crisis is last year's Secretary Heller and Audrey held captive in a factory, both of which seem to be diversions to a much greater end...both groups using live broadcasts...I liked last year's "Marwan springs a new disaster every three or four hours," but I hope that's not where this year is headed.

Actually, I'll agree with that too. When he was working on his own, and trying to sneak by the FBI agents, it felt fresh. However, when he's on the phone with CTU guiding a team to take out the terrorists with hostages, it felt like it was back to formula pretty fast.

Another great two hours. My only problem was when Chloe was telling Buchanan that the treaty signing was a minute and a half ahead of schedule. When in American history has any political moment gone ahead of schedule, much less on time?

I, too, hope they don't go bouncing from catastrophe to catastrophe - whatever those guys were stealing, let that be the focus for most/all of the season.

Also, any guesses on what it is? Are we building to yet another nuke, or something else?

What happened to President Keeler? Did he die or is still in a coma or what?

They haven't particularly addressed it, so until further notice he's having martinis with Behrooz Araz in 24 Character Limbo.

I wonder if Keith Palmer and Kate Warner are there as well?

Kate actually did get written out of the series at the start of season three, so she's accounted for. Palmer's daughter (Nicole?) is totally there, though, as is Rick, who just got screwed in Day 1.

So we could get Jack Bauer v. Jack Bauer?

That sounds like a Nicolas Cage movie or something.

How about Jack Bauer vs Jane Bauer?

I cant find a picture of her, but she's his twin sister..

She's on the right, Kiefer's mom (the actress Shirley Douglas) is on the left.

Well theres a lot of resemblence.

I know shes not an actress, but..that would be awesome.

You know, I rewatched this first episode and something struck me.

David Palmer knew he was about to be killed. I don't know why yet, but I am pretty sure that Palmer knew. Dennis Haysbert is a great actor and I am sure that all that stuff on his face before he was shot wasn't by accident. If you look at that scene again and the look on his face and how he approached that window, its like he knew. Why he would sacrifice himself like that...I don't know. But I am calling it.

You may be right, Ripper. He knew the entire plan that's about to go down. How and why? We don't know yet. But I bet bits and pieces are going to trickle out over the season.

Now everytime I watch an All-State commercial, I'm going to be waiting for one of those cars to clip him while he stands in the middle of the intersection.

Was anyone else upset that they didn't keep the Jack Bauer mullet from the prequel?

Hell no.

24 airs at 8pm tonight in Canada, due to election coverage. So we get to watch the show twice if we want...

The only thing that makes sense is that Logan is still pissed at Jack about the thing with the Chinese last season. I think he's going to take Cummings's word over Jack and jeopardize everything over a grudge

"I'm not CTU." Walt, you is f-u-cked.

I love, love, love the idea that Spenser was just internal affairs, and that he had no idea what was actually going on. That's so much better than doing "there's a mole in CTU!" again, and something I hadn't thought of at all. Everything about this episode was great; it's a slow burn and exactly what I wanted out of this week. I think the nerve gas/getting at Jack Bauer are going to be the big things this season, and I'll be really happy if it keeps going like this. Martha Logan is great, too, and she was the part of this season I was most worried about after last Sunday.

Unless they get proof on Walt soon, Jack is the one that is fucked. He's accusing the president's right-hand man of treason...Logan already doesn't like Jack and obviously is not going to side with him. I don't know how many people watched the "SCENES FROM NEXT WEEK'S 24" thing, but it's looking like

Logan's gonna believe Walt

Posted

I think the Martha Logan thing has a chance to be the greatest secondary 24 storyline.

edit: Beside the fact they don't get along, how the FUCK can Logan not believe Jack? Jack has freaking saved the U.S three times now, is never wrong, saved Logans ass once already in the day, doing all that knowing he doesn't even work for CTU. Christ, Logan might be the most idiotic tv president in tv history, but i like his character.

Posted

Logan's too stubborn to believe someone he doesn't trust. Take his wife, for example. He doesn't trust her because she has mental problems, but even if he pretended to be interested in what she said was a conspiracy theory, who knows what would have happened? Instead, he wrote it off as her being crazy and everything happened the way it did. In Logan's eyes, Martha makes things up and cannot be trusted to speak the truth.

Why would it be different for Jack? Yeah, he's saved the country from complete annihilation three times, but as far as Logan is concerned, he killed the Chinese consul and faked his death to get out of punishment. Logan cannot trust Jack. On the other hand, Walt has been with Logan for 15+ years of his political career.

Now, Jack brings this to Logan with what proof? "Uh, some guy tried to kill me and I interrogated the guy that let him in and he said that he was ordered to do it by Walt Cummings...oh and by the way, I faked my own death to get away from a Chinese labor camp after potentially putting us into WW3. Nice to meet you, Mr. President." That'll go over like a fart in church.

Watching the teaser

Jack is obviously going to try to talk to Mike about it to see if they can expose Walt. Jack is taken into custody by order of President Logan.

I find it funny that they sent one assassin at Jack. You'd think the bad guys would know by now its probably going to take a FUCKING army to kill Jack, and comsidering its Jack Bauer, he'd probsbly find a way to survive.
