RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2006 The thing with Cummings totally had me off guard. Brilliant. I like the idea of letting people know only so much, anticipating them betraying you and then changing the plan. But Cummings is still in on it, right? starvenger 0 Report post Posted January 31, 2006 Was also nice to see Agent Pierce in a little more active role, always hoped they'd find more to do with him on the show To be perfectly honest, I like how they use Pierce. Solid complementary character, and a nice nod to the past. I think we were all wondering when the Pierce-Palmer card would be played, and they used it about as well as I could have hoped for. But Cummings is still in on it, right? Well, for his sake he'd better not be. Otherwise he'll join Ryan Wolfe as a "Monday night TV character with eye problems". Still, given his "patriot" line, I'd expect Cummings to go the "dies a hero" exit from the show.

packwingfn 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2006 only good thing about this episode was the mention of Kim
the max 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2006 Good calm before the storm episode tonight. Mostly plot filler, but solid filler. Big letdown with the Ukrainian girl being the one behind the bed and then killing whatshisname in the end. I'm disappointed in them recycling the season 2 idea of Jack having to assist in terrorism. Hopefully they put a twist on this.
Guest Fook Report post Posted February 7, 2006 It seems like they've completely put the whole Palmer murder and his call to the Crazy First Lady on the backburner. I was actually finding that more interesting than the whole nerve gas issue. And we still don't know who was setting up Jack to take the fall as Palmer's assassin and who knew he was still alive. the max 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2006 I think it was Cummings, although it's odd that they dropped it that fast. They'll probably go back to it midseason.
chirs3 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2006 (edited) Kinda blech. The Kim tease was nice, and Chloe'n'Edgar are always awesome, but the rest just felt a little too familiar - crazy woman killing important villain moments before said villain will do something to help us out (Alexis Drazon, Saunders), the "Listen to me, no listen to me!" Presidential advisor thing that's been going on in almost every season... ... although I'm now beginning to suspect that Mrs. Logan is dirty, and in it far more deeply than Walt (who didn't know - sort of a Jamie/Nina in reverse). It's entirely possible that she manipulated events to force her husband into giving her a seat at the table, even if only out of guilt. No proof, obviously, but I'm keeping my eye on her. I think she's pulling a power-play. I wonder if this Crazy Druggy Sister thing is going anywhere. I didn't expect the mugging, but I can't really see many interesting places for it to go from there. Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2006 Crazy druggie sister is the worst. Filler episode for sure.
Guest Fook Report post Posted February 7, 2006 Hopefully they'll play it like when they stole Lynn's wallet, there was something in it that's supposed to be for his eyes only, like passwords to something important. Then they can play the "breach to national security" card with Lynn caught in the middle of trying to protect his sister and doing what's right for the country. Mik 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2006 I would be surprised if that DIDN'T happen.
chirs3 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2006 (edited) Actually, that's not a bad way to play it. Good call. I do believe this is the first season of 24 where Jack and Co. aren't looking to thwart an elaborate terrorist plot - that is to say, the bad guys are pretty much improvising at this point (unless there's a bigger thing going on we don't know about yet). I wonder how they'll keep it chugging along, then, if it's not going to follow the "Jack finds out enough of the conspiracy to set up the next episode, repeat" formula the other seasons did. Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2006 I wonder if this Crazy Druggy Sister thing is going anywhere. I didn't expect the mugging, but I can't really see many interesting places for it to go from there. Well, her friend stole his wallet, and for a brief second they showed the CTU keycard. I have no idea how they're going to tie that into things though.

No, there isn't, but Jack could probably detox her in 30 minutes, so it's probably just an "out" that they've built in in case they run out of ideas. But again, remember that I picked the Seahawks on Sunday...
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2006 "The 'About Me' Section From Jack Bauer's Friendster Profile," courtesy McSweeneys.net: I don't have a lot of time to explain right now, but you're going to have to trust me. During my years of covert government service, I have gone through hell and back. Yes, I am proud to have served my country, helping to avoid many horrific tragedies. Rules are meant to be followed, but I have a history of insubordination. While the methods I employ may seem harsh, I always have one goal in mind: saving lives. In the process, I have had to make some tough decisions, often within seconds, in order to avert disaster. To my friends: I'm sorry for not telling you everything. It's not that I don't trust you, but we are operating on a strict need-to-know basis. But when I'm in a jam, I hope I can count on you. Whether it's illegally hacking passwords of suspected terrorist financiers or keeping your mouth shut about my smack habit, I really appreciate everything. And if you ever find yourself unavoidably chained to a weapon of mass destruction counting down to zero, you know I'm the first one there with an ax. You can even use my belt to stop the bleeding while I radio Division for help. Sorry I can't stick around to accompany you to the emergency room, but there's still work that needs to be done, so get me that chopper. And set up a perimeter right away. To the ladies: Yes, I'm a single father, widowed. You have to understand, my job takes a heavy toll, and it's hard to maintain a stable relationship. If you don't handle stress very well, my advice to you is this: don't date a field agent. We aren't always around, the hours for my job are highly erratic, and I'm often too tired or traumatized when I get home to make whoopee. Yes, my life seems glamorous and exciting. Yes, I exude a brooding sexiness with my skills in unarmed combat and hostage negotiation. However, if you are forced to spend one whole day and night with me, you may not like everything you see. But damn it, I get results. To my enemies: If I need information from you, seconds count. So apologies in advance if I have to break your thumbs or threaten to kill your family; I empathize with you. Believe me, I've been tortured plenty of times myself, and I know interrogation ain't no picnic. Please listen to me very carefully: I will DO WHATEVER IT TAKES to stop this assassination/nuclear bomb/horrible karaoke. P.S. Feel free to add me to your friends list! Send me a detailed message first (preferably encrypted) with your full background information and a recent photo. I will reply within 24 hours with instructions as to how to proceed from there. Understand that if you deviate from my orders in any way, I will be forced to place you on the "Ignore/Block User" list. Are we clear?
The Tino Standard 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 Does anybody know where I can find last week's episode (2/6/06) online? My DVR screwed me over royally. If there's a web site where you can get 24 episodes that you know of, I'd be eternally grateful. Send me a PM.

the max 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2006 Standard stuff. I liked Jack at the mall. Seeing his character actually have a conscience while on the job was something that they haven't done before this season. His only weakness right now seems to be children. Next week: Why do government officials always question what Jack does? He's always right and has saved the world about four times from a complete wipeout. Yet again, they do the "authority figure has Jack taken into custody to explain himself...even though each second brings the country closer and closer to complete chemical warfare. bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2006 the episode had a very 'been there done that' feeling this week (although it was awesome to see Jack go all heroic by saving the kid. Not only is he a badass killing and torturing machine, he saves kids too! Jack of all trades). The stuff with Cummings and Logan and Jack was high drama, but they haven't rebounded yet to the next cool situation. Maybe the whole 'he disobeyed Logan's order' thing will take us there. the max 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2006 I'm thinking that Jack disobeying orders will give us what we wanted from the beginning of the season; Jack has to be on the run while trying to track down the canisters. On the teaser we see Jack getting arrested by Curtis (I think) and CTU Hobbit flipping out about Jack disobeying a direct order from the president. I think Curtis "accidentally" letting Jack go and letting him act on his own authority would be rather enjoyable...although that calls into question what their plans are for Kimberly.
