CanadianChris Posted January 19, 2006 Author Report Posted January 19, 2006 That game is going to be in the area of 17-14. I can guarantee Plummer will throw a pick for a TD. Right, like people have been "guaranteeing" he'll do that all season.
The Czech Republic Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 I could care less about the NFC game COULDN'T care less. Either way is correct, Faulty Grammar Nazi. How is that correct? "Could care less" means that there is already some level of caring being done, which you could do less than if you wanted. Do you use "literally" to mean "figuratively" too?

"Could care less" means that there is already some level of caring being done, which you could do less than if you wanted. Do you use "literally" to mean "figuratively" too? Actually, "could care less" implies that he could indeed care less, but that it would be difficult. I'm pretty sure that it's still correct, if a little less intuitive than the preferred form.
The Czech Republic Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Why would you say "could care less" when you could be more articulate with "couldn't care less"? Go all out, I say. It doesn't imply any difficulty. I could care less about the Chicago Cubs. I could care less about macaroni. Both statements are true. I really like the Cubs a lot. I prefer my macaroni be served with tuna if possible. It's just different degrees of care. If you want to say you don't give a shit, then I suggest the massive undertaking of augmenting the word "could" with an n, apostrophe, and t.
CanadianChris Posted January 19, 2006 Author Report Posted January 19, 2006 Well, it IS an American expression. The British use "couldn't."
Kahran Ramsus Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Speaking for myself, I could care less about the NFC Title Game. Like say if Washington had won. If Washington & Chicago both won, then I'd just be depressed.
The Czech Republic Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Well, it IS an American expression. The British use "couldn't." flog me bum and call me Nigel Only Americans can decide that opposites can be synonyms too
MillenniumMan831 Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Honestly, as a Browns fan I don't care which teams win this weekend as long as the NFC team wins the Super Bowl. Yeah, I'm bitter. So what? We got every right to be bitter as Browns fans. Ideally, I'd like to see the Steelers win the AFC Title in a classic against Denver only to get anal raped in the Super Bowl 62-0. But that's just me.
Dr. Tom Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 I'd like to see both road teams win. However, I'm going with the home teams. Denver wins by a field goal, and Seattle wins by 6.
Kahran Ramsus Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 How is Denver's pass defense? 29th in the NFL. Only the Chiefs, Patriots & 49ers were worse this year.
CanadianChris Posted January 19, 2006 Author Report Posted January 19, 2006 How is Denver's pass defense? 29th in the NFL. Only the Chiefs, Patriots & 49ers were worse this year. In yardage. They also ranked 4th in opposing QB rating, and 6th in interceptions.

Right, like people have been "guaranteeing" he'll do that all season. It's the playoffs. I think Denver will win regardless of how well he plays.
Special K Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 For whatever reason, while I think any team can win this week, I think one game will surprisingly end up a blowout.
Vern Gagne Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 Why did Trey Wingo just calll Jerome Bettis "brother"?
Special K Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 I would bet anyone money that the 'Hawks win Sunday. Let it be known, the Seattle Times just ran a 2 page blowjob of Steve Smith. He deserves it. He's a stud. I'm scared to think what Delhomme would do with two reveivers.
Red Baron Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 Imagine if Muhammad was still on the Panthers. Man I wouldn't even think twice picking Carolina then.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 It will be Carolina/Denver...that's my prediction.
Dr. Tyler; Captain America Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 Jake Plummer reminds me so god damned much of 2001, when Kordell Stewart went basically the whole year without making a single crucial mistake. He was mentioned (and I think even came in second) for MVP and when they got to the AFCC, he imploded just like everyone was waiting for. Plummer is Kordell Stewart 2006. He's gonna implode, it's just a matter of time. Dickie LeBeau is going to stop the Broncos' running game if he has to put nine in the box; do you really trust Plummer throwing 30 times? Do you think he's changed that much?
snuffbox Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 I have absolutely no idea whos going to win on Sunday...and for that reason its the most Ive looked forward to a Championship Sunday since the days when Green Bay was involved. I expect to see two really good games, and maybe even an all-time classic. Predictions for the hell of it- Seattle/Pittsburgh.
The Niggardly King Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 Pittsburgh by 10 or more. Carolina by 3. Pittsburgh wins the Super Bowl.
Hawk 34 Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 Denver 16 Pittsburgh 10 Seattle 29 Carolina 34

Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 I see the Panthers and the Broncos coming out on top here. I don't see two Wildcard teams going to the Superbowl and Denver's pretty much beaten anyone of any relevance already. It would be nice for the Bus to get a Super Bowl ring but--- then again no it wouldn't. That guy doesn't really deserve one. He's the fattest runningback I've ever seen step onto a football field and all he's good for nowadays is 50 yards. I like the guy and think he's funy, but as an athlete, I can't respect him for letting his body be in the condition it's in.
AboveAverage484 Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 I pick Carolina for the NFC title game. They're hot and Seattle has the track record of not winning the games that count. 30-23. Denver and Pittsburgh will be very interesting. They both have solid, reliable quarterbacks, fast defenses, great running games, and good receiving corps (with a Pro Bowl receiver for each; Ward/Smith). I guess I'll pick Denver because I'm biased and they're at home. Uhhhh, 23-20.

I like the guy and think he's funy, but as an athlete, I can't respect him for letting his body be in the condition it's in. I disagree. One of the most unique things about Jerome Bettis is how quick and agile he is for a big guy. Let's face it, no matter how muscular you are, if you're 5'10", 5'11" and over 250 pounds, you're going to have a bit of a belly. Guy's listed at 260 but is actually probably around 280, and he can move.. I bet he can still go out there and pick up 100 yards, but his body has taken a pounding with the way he plays. Power running backs rarely, if ever, have lasted as long as he has. To prove a point, he rushed for over 100 yards and two TD's against Chicago's defense earlier this year, in the only game where he was really the featured back. Also, the closer it's getting to gametime, the more I'm starting to feel as if Seattle might make it past Carolina. I still think Pittsburgh beats Denver, though. I'd really like to see Carolina-Pittsburgh, but I'd be okay with Seattle-Pittsburgh as well.
naiwf Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 Denver 24 Pittsburgh 20 - Big Ben throws a crucial pick early in the 4th allowing Denver to take the lead which they won't relinquish. Carolina 27 Seattle 14 - I don't think Alexander has a big game, and Steve Smith STILL catches 9 or 10 balls for 120-150 yards and scores 2 TDs, one on a long pass (30+ yards) and one on an end around or a reverse.

My picks though are Seattle and Pittsburgh. After last week, Pittsburgh seems to have the football gods in their corner.
Hawk 34 Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 Am I the only one disapointed in the lack of snow in Denver? It looks like it's summertime out there.
Gert T Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 I'll take Pittsburgh (ugh) and Seattle.
