Chris Penn Found Dead in Apartment

Recommended Posts

Seemed to be a possible rumor a couple hours ago, but more news outlets are reporting it. I've heard it's possibly he'd been dead for several days. Here's one of the stories...

Chris Penn, actor and younger brother of Sean Penn, has died, Access Hollywood has learned. He was 43.

Penn starred in the 1992 film "Reservoir Dogs." His other film credits include "Best of the Best," "True Romance," "Mulholland Falls" and "Starsky & Hutch."

Most recently, he worked in "The Darwin Awards" with Winona Ryder, David Arquette and Wilmer Valderrama, as well as appearnces last year on "Law & Order: CI", "Entourage" and "Everwood".

Dare I say it? I will.

The wrong Penn brother died.

I was going to make a crack along the lines of, "That's not the cast member of Corky Romano that I would have chosen." ... but your "wrong Penn" joke is sooo much better, my joke would have been out of place.

Vyce wins the thread.

My dislike of Sean Penn isn't really political. I'm pretty apathetic what celebrities think of politics.

My dislike of Sean Penn is based around his considering himself 'above' people talking about the Jeff Spicoli character. The guy was in a stoner movie 2 decades ago, long before he was really famous ... and now that he's famous for more serious roles he refuses to speak about it. Allowing people to speak about now that he is famous won't detract from his body of work. It makes him come across as a pompous prick.

Sorry to threadjack the Chris Penn thread for this post ... carry on.

I actually think it just comes across as bitter, since I've seen that joke made in other threads by people with similar political beliefs, but whatever.

I haven't seen this guy in a movie in awhile, so it didn't really shock me or anything.

Oh, don't read too much into it. It's just that Chris in the "Nice Guy Eddie" role alone was more entertaining than anything Sean has done in the last 10 years. YES, I'm including Mystic River. Tim Robbins was the workhouse in that one.
