CanadianGuitarist Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 If I die on good terms with the people who attend, A tout le monde by Megadeth. If I need to be heckled after I die, Eulogy by Tool.
Special K Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 Whatever you do, no SR. prom songs like "Good Riddance" or "End of the Road." Even if you're trying to be ironic.
Gert T Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 "Dust in The Wind". Hopefully Ferrell will be available.
Epic Reine Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 "Surprise! You're Dead!" by Faith No More.
SuperJerk Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 "Who Wants to Live Forever?" by Queen
Gary Floyd Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 If it was suicide, either Billie Holiday or Lydia Lunch's versions of Gloomy Sunday The ending theme from SNL
Lord of The Curry Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 I third the "Amazing Grace" on 'pipes love.
Nighthawk Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 Also, as far as popular music, I always though "Freebird" would make a pretty good funeral song.
Nighthawk Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 That's the song I play for people who have never heard of them before. Good choice.
Corey_Lazarus Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 "My Way" by Sid Vicious...heehee
haws bah gawd Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 My buddy has made me promise that whenever he dies, Metallica's "Unforgiven" will be played at his funeral. He's an odd guy. I'll take having "Dust in the Wind" played at mine.
Corey_Lazarus Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I actually have a full list of songs I want played my wake and/or funeral I carry around with me at all times in my wallet. "Amazing Grace" on the pipes and "Freebird" are on there, plus an assortment of White Zombie, Slayer, and The Misfits.
Ravenbomb Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I had a short list, but the only one I can remember off of it is Johnny Cash's cover of "In My Life" by the Beatles
bob_barron Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I've been listening to that song a lot recently, great stuff. I would pick Free Bird but Elizabethtown already used it.
yankovic fan Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Time to Say Good Bye - Sarah Brightman & Andrea Bocelli - freaking awesome On a lighter note: Haha You're Dead - Green Day
Rob Anybody Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Also, as far as popular music, I always though "Freebird" would make a pretty good funeral song. Seconded. Although 'Riders on the Storm' or 'When the Music's Over' would have to get in there somewhere, just because I want to have at least one Doors song at my funeral.
2GOLD Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 It's been ordered of my girl and my family that when I die, my hearse is to have speakers on it that play "The Peter Gunn theme" as they take me to the grave. On repeat. As for in the funeral home, fuck I'm going with "My Way" by Elvis. I like it. And "In the ghetto" doesn't work since I don't live in the ghetto.
The Czech Republic Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 I've been listening to that song a lot recently, great stuff. I would pick Free Bird but Elizabethtown already used it. Bob Barron, you're from Ontario and/or New York. You're not going to be buried to "Freebird," if you're indeed following up other people's "at my funeral, play" posts.
Murmuring Beast Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 At the cremation, 'Light My Fire'. It is my favourite song, though. I'm in a Kinks mood just now so I'll go with 'Days' and 'Waterloo Sunset'. 'European Son' to finish.
Special K Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 "Wish You Were Here" is probably a pretty good one. Not the shitty Incubus song. I want "The Most Exalted Potentate of Love" to be played at my funeral. Tom Waits' "Misery is the River of the World" would be good for a larf.
Vampiro69 Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Personally I would like to have AC/DC's "Highway to Hell." It would at least bring a smile to the faces of some of the attendees.
