Guest nokia Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Wade Keller just reported in his latest Torch VIP audio update that Joe and TNA have agreed to a multi-year deal through 2009. * This is great news...

Guest SavageRulz Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Great news all round really. From TNA's point of view it's smart because whether they'd use him right, or even push him big, you know that WWE would want to snap him up if they could to damage TNA. From Joe's point of view he has a secure deal (I assume?), mainstream attention on a nationally promoted television show and pay per view, and the chance to work in a company that won't restrict him and will allow him to go, continue to push him, and start to build around him. From the fans point of view we're guaranteed to see a lot more Joe, potentially an even bigger push, and we know he won't get restricted or trained to work a different style. Awesome stuff. Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Good for Joe. Now, TNA, I beg you. Please, please don't give him the Goldberg push to the title. Please.
SamoaRowe 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 This is great news, since everybody wins! TNA gets a great worker who they can build up as the star. Joe (in theory) gets the money he wanted and a secure job. We get Joe every week on national cable WWE doesn't get to ruin him!

What I want to know, did Joe get to keep his ROH clause in the restructured contract. That was an important thing for Joe, when he signed with TNA last summer. TNA will be pushing Joe to be the NWA Champion, within a year. I can't imagine TNA, with a national promotion and primetime slot will like it's star and champion working indy shows. Anyways, this is good news for both sides. Joe, did have leverage because WWE would take him and Joe, has stated before that he would be content just working ROH and indie's. TNA needed Joe, and they smartly gave him the deal he deserved.

Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Guess Christian's not getting the ball, after all. Fuck TNA. What does Joe getting a 3 year deal have to do with Christian not getting the ball? If anything, it means TNA can do a slow build and burn to Joe getting the Hvywt Title since he will be with them for awhile now. For all we know, Joe might end up holding the X title for the next 6-12 months. You are jumping to conclusions.
BoboBrazil 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Joe vs Christian? Nice...
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Not necessarily jumping to conclusions. Samoa Joe is a great asset to TNA but in no way should he be the "franchise". Christian is a better choice than Samoa.
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 I don't see any relation to the two events. Daniels and Styles signed through 2008 last year yet they're still confined to the X Division.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 But my question hasn't been answered, what does Samoa Joe getting a 3 year deal have to do with Chistian not getting the ball as Hvwt Champ? The plans for the next several months don't have Joe anywhere near the title and for Christian to be given a chance to get over as a main event champion. I don't see how Joe's business deal is directly effecting Christian right now or for the next year.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Well in honesty it was really a reaction to Corey Lazarus's prediction.
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 I do feel that with the proper build, Christian vs. Joe and Sting vs. Joe (the latter happening before the former to further establish him) could be matches that draw very well.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Agreed. As long as Christian gets a long and strong reign, I'm fine with him losing it to Samoa next year. I don't think Samoa should get the belt this year though. It seems like they have a lot of guys they want to put the belt on like Monty Brown and you know Jeff Jarrett will want it back. So where can Samoa Joe fit in the equation? This is a honest question.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 I think TNA has cooled on making Monty champion. He hasn't had good matches since the first push on Spike TV. Jeff may try to sneak in, but the word in the sheets is they want to give Christian a real shot at getting over. I think they'll give him about 3 months. If he doesn't have any legs by then, I could see Jarrett back in the position.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 I maintain that Joe needs to lose cleanly a couple of times in the X Division before they move him up, because they don't have a deep enough roster to feed everyone to him and then try to build those guys back up after Joe squashes them. The Orlando audience loves Joe now, but if they try to have an undefeated run through the entire top of the card, I don't think it'll work nearly as well. Since he's locked up for a few years there's even less of a rush to get him to the World Title, and they need to make him have some flaws BEFORE he wins the strap, not after. I am already sick of him as X Champion... there's no interest for me anymore cause he has squashed the entire division with ease. if he does that in the world title scene, TNA is no better then WWE cause that's not gona be enjoyable. he should have flaws and some losses. Guest Desperate Housewife Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Sad really. I remained hopeful that Joe would, at the very least, listen to an offer from the WWE, hear what they had to say, before committing himself to jobbing to Jarrett. Is it not an aspiration anymore, to join the Bigtime? And don't gimme that crap about Joe being above OVW. If CM punk can do it - Joe can

Also, Joe never said he didn't want to work for WWE. He did say he would entertain the offer but it would come down to what suits him right now.
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 And neither Joe nor Punk should be relegated to OVW hell. Some house show tours at first before debuting, sure. But OVW has become the place where WWE sticks the signees they simply don't want TNA to have. Also, when Ace made the remark "Joe could be the Samoan heel Rikishi couldn't be", RIGHT THERE that should be an indication that they don't have a clue what to do with a talent like Joe. The two couldn't be more different other than heritage, but then you get a comparison between a well-traveled, well-rounded wrestler and a former midcard/comedy act talent. GODSON 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 PWInsider.com is reporting that TNA Wrestling and Samoa Joe have come to terms on a long-term contract renewal, that would keep Samoa Joe in TNA Wrestling for another five years. No terms of dollar amount were given, however the new contract links Samoa Joe to TNA Wrestling until 2011. TNA World X Division Champion Samoa Joe’s first deal with the company gave him the right to renegotiate his deal with TNA Wrestling if his initial run with the company was a success. WIth the lighter schedule and more freedom, alot of wrestlers is starting to entertain the idea of joining TNA over WWE. Joe was not the first or will be the last. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Is it not an aspiration anymore, to join the Bigtime? Being a small fish in the "Bigtime" is NOT better than being a big fish in the "larger-than-average time". Especially when the big time views you as the next Rikishi.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2006 Well I always thought Ace just meant that Rikishi was supposed to have a monster run as a Samoan heel but no one bought him because he was a comedy wrestler prior to the heel turn. Samoa would probably have come in as the killer heel from the get-go, and thus, could have been more successful. I don't think Ace meant that Samoa should wear those trunks with the strings and that he should give himself a wedgie before sticking his ass in opponents' faces.
