Bruce Blank Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 I can't believe you overlooked this guy Mick Foley
Bruce Blank Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 Well that'll show me to trust the "word search" function in IE won't it? woops
Guest shark boy super fan Posted March 2, 2006 Report Posted March 2, 2006 Da one Da only Da Crusher was main event talent in the AWA for years ened his carrer as a jobber in the wwf
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 CRUSHER did NOT job in the WWF... He was put over with main event tag teams with The Machines, Hogan etc. He most definitely did not job out at ALL /slaps head and gives up on thread.
CBright7831 Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 Bobby Eaton went from being part of one of the best tag teams of the 80's to jobbing on Saturday Night in 97-98. HHH was very low card guy in WCW too. I'm not sure if he was a complete jobber, though. But he lost to Alex Wright for God's sake.
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted March 3, 2006 Report Posted March 3, 2006 DAMN IT PEOPLE PAY ATTENTION!!!! A JOBBER IS TOM STONE, KERRY DAVIS< BARRY HARDY, RENO RIGGENS, THE GAMBLER, ETC BOBBY EATON WAS NOT A JOBBER LOUIE SPICOLLI WAS A JOBBER IN WWF, AS RAD RADFORD HE WAS JUST AN UNDERCARD GUY NOT A JOBBER ANYONE CATCH ON YET?
Guest ken adams Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 How about Paul Roma & Jim Powers? Total jobbers, but due to fans, they were given a little push, a victory over an established team, and a name. A want to say it was "Wild Stallions." They were quickly sqaushed and back down to jobbers.
Si82 Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 How about Paul Roma & Jim Powers? Total jobbers, but due to fans, they were given a little push, a victory over an established team, and a name. A want to say it was "Wild Stallions." They were quickly sqaushed and back down to jobbers. ...and together we are Wyld Stallions!
Dobbs 3K Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 (scratching head at how someone came up with the Crusher being a jobber in WWF)
Guest The Showcase Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 Randy Orton started out as a Orlando Jorda-esque jobboy back in earlier Smackdown years.
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 *sighs* at the continued failure of the basic thread concept
Maztinho Posted March 15, 2006 Report Posted March 15, 2006 Kenta Kobashi... he lost his first 63 matches. That would be qualified as a jobber.
fisticuffs Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 "Pistol" Pez Whatley was an upper-mid carder with NWA in the 80's and was a complete jobber with WWF in the early 90's. He didn't even get an entrance while he was in the WWF. He was the guy standing in the ring as the show came back from commercial.
Dobbs 3K Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 Arnold, I think the simple fact is there have been very, very few true jobbers who have gone on to main event success.
haVoc Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 Bret Hart was a jobber before the Hart Foundation.
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 Bret was NOT a Jobber - lower card - yes - jobber - no
Copper Feel Posted March 24, 2006 Report Posted March 24, 2006 Kenta Kobashi... he lost his first 63 matches. That would be qualified as a jobber. Whered you get that statistic from?
DCMaximo Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 In an article in Power Slam magazine earlier this year, they wrote that in spite of his potential, Kobashi lost his first 63 matches to test his devotion to the business.
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 Wasn't Mikey Whipreck a jobber?
Copper Feel Posted March 25, 2006 Report Posted March 25, 2006 In an article in Power Slam magazine earlier this year, they wrote that in spite of his potential, Kobashi lost his first 63 matches to test his devotion to the business. Oh, I havent bought Power Slam since 2005.
Special K Posted March 26, 2006 Report Posted March 26, 2006 I think the thing is, there haven't really been pure jobbers in quite a long time. I was thinking Scott Norton, who went on to hold the IWGP title, but nope. Fire & Ice won a few matches. Even more nowadays, since WWE just brings in local boys to job on Velocity. Public Enemy were treated like complete jobber goobs in the WWE, but that lasted a really short time. Randy Savage went from being one of the biggest stars in wrestling to jobbing to Spider-Man.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Norton worked Japan long before Fire & Ice.
Jericholic82 Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 Norton worked Japan long before Fire & Ice. Plus he had a brief WCW stint in 93 feuding with sting, but was replaced by The Prisoner (Nailz) at slamboree 93
nl5xsk1 Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 I think that everytime this thread gets a new post, Arnold_OldSchool dies a little bit inside. This hasn't gone like he thought it would.
